I very briefly beta tested Astro (I have the alien plushie to prove it) and I was a OG Royale High player and I will say unfortunately I believe at the time it was coming out Astro was being marketed as a substitute for royale high. I could be wrong and maybe it wasn’t the devs doing this but still the similarities I believe are very intentional but with a space theme because the game was intended for people who were getting fed up with Barbie making things harder and harder to farm and more expensive. So while I get what you’re saying I’m pretty sure Astro is meant to be a substitute in a sense. (But honestly it’s basically a love letter to the original fans of royale high with how much love and hard work has been put into it in just ONE YEAR!) Honestly if they made another map that wasn’t just for quests I’m sure they’d get the role playing player base up and running easily.
I agree with you, I saw this video about a game called momo city and it was being compared to Royale high when they're two completely different games, branding games snaller the rh as rh replacements is just annoying and will do more harm then good for the game, if you wanna play Royale high even after the controversy then do it, no one is going to stop you

i , personally quit rh and moved on to astros rennisiance because of high rh prices and a bunch of drama , but once rhs drama settles down and makes the prices lower , theres a 76% chance il be coming back . astro is like a bunker for me to stay away from the drama , once it settles down , i can go back to rh and move on with my life ! or stick to astro , who knows?
Indie games commonly have these issues. If people choose to game hop for royale high's shortcomings than devs should've seen that coming. Maybe new game with a team that can communicate and listen to players can replace it.

I personally enjoy astro Renaissance more than royale high and yes a lot of good memories where made in royal high but i started to get board of it and stopped playing for like 1 year and then before all the Royal high drama happend joined again but it wasn't the same anymore and got boring again really quickly. Compared to how long i used to play royal high before i left is sad, i used to play for hours with my friends but after the one year i only played like 10 minutes a day or so. I stopped playing before the drama and only found astro Renaissance some days ago and it really was fun compared to royal high. To be completely honest i didn't really realize that the royal high down fall happened when it started and sure people are going to argue with me about this but astro Renaissance is kinda better and more friendlier than royal high, that also includes the community and also the prices. I just wanted to thank you for talking about this comparison in this video since it was getting on my nerves and i hope the people will appreciate this game and developers a bit more since they make great updates and i don't want this community to be ruined like royal highs since i watched it turn extremely toxic. I did exactly that but i dont see myself as toxic i just didn’t appreciate how i felt unincluded as a guy in rh and the body type that changed. I absolutely agree! It is obviously impossible to release a super high quality game in a few months, having weekly updates, having great community and not even needing to pay robux for game passes. If you have a huge team, you gotta pay your team SOMEHOW. Not only that, making high quality games can easily cause lags which again, many people complain. Overall perfect games don’t exist, and why not just stop the high standards? But still I’m not standing up for Royale high, although it’s a nostalgic game, they failed at communicating and promising things that don’t come true. I just wanna add, As someone who uses Royale High for cosplays, I personally don't think Astro Ren or any other game would ever be able to be a replacement of some sort or a standard for what Royale High should've been. They're both dress up games yes, but they're both completely different things and while Astro Ren is arguably more entertaining and even has inclusion of different body types and cultures even though not that advanced, you can't exactly cosplay most things in it because the items are beautifully different than the ones in Royale High BECAUSE the game is situated around space themed stuff! (it's literally in the name I mean,, it makes sense.) Royale High is a (High)school themed game so there are more "simple" things to use which is what makes it easy to cosplay and the gameplay is generally situated around school roleplays. But we shouldn't forget either that Royale High has been around for ages meaning their teams are more "experienced" and they have more items than most other dress up games. My opinion remains unchanged from the last time I tried Astro Ren out and I even think it improved which is arguably good especially on the pace it was going in, however we can't use that as an excuse to absolutely PRESS devs into improving a game that recieved atleast 100 players before the Royale High boycott in some attempt to change the game into a Royale High replacement, and I think we should all recognize and treat them as two seperate games because whilst being the same genre they're two completely different identities AND gameplays so we should treat it as such. (This should apply FOR ALL games and not just Astro Ren & Royale High, I'm only using them as examples.)

Also why would I quit royale high all of a sudden after dropping like actual money on the game😭😭😭 that’s something I’ll never do with any game I’ve spent a large amount of money on

Quit royale high months ago, started playing astro with the boycotting everywhere, and omggg do I love it. I did compare everything with royale high at first, habit ofc after playing royale high for 6 years, but it is SUCH a different game. I wish it were popular under better circumstances, it's so much better
I think it also boils down to the fact that the RH player base are majority young kids that are of course judgmental and close minded, which is why RH has such a toxic fanbase. I've been an RH player for a few years now and I just joined Astro Renaissance without being aware of the boycott a few months back. Honestly, playing Astro Renaissance without the intention on using it as a replacement helped me to become more open minded and enjoy the game more. Especially with the new update, Astro Renaissance proved to be a passion project who wants to differentiate themselves from RH, offering different lore and creative direction to players
honestly I just feel like no one really does anything in astro apart from farming to get items to make the best outfits, in rh a small portion of players still roleplay but I feel like astro is entirely just farming and getting new items. I finished the 2 quests and I just feel like there's nothing to do in it anymore.
I mean, The Hunt has Astro Renaissance in it so more peopoe will play it because of The Hunt, and I'm sure more people will play it for the publicity that this new event gives.

I’m not against this, but Astro Renaissance is not a “second Royale High”. Royale High is destroying itself, it can’t represent cultures properly, devs are racist (from what I’ve heard), and updates are always delayed/late and they are always rushed/lazily made. But Royale High is able to fix itself, (I hope it does) but I can no longer play anymore because of my bad internet(or my old device). But, both games are good.

AR is literally like a brand new game as far as roblox games are concerned and puts out updates all of the time. Looking where rh was 4 or 5 years ago and their extremely slow growth the last few years, we can easily assume it could fall behind some of these others if the delays and ignoring people continues. Yeah, great point. Astro Renaissance probably would have been treated a lot differently under different circumstances. Many things in the game are also pretty similar to Royale High... but there's only so much creativity that can be put out when the game devs are aware of what gameplay/items have been more popular in the past.
@pixiexstar31 I like to disagree with you. Most items in Astro from my view look original. I don't see any direct replicas (I played the game in the summer of 2023 and have a lot of the items). The only "direct replica" I could see is the summer 2023 halo. Since when you toggle it. It kind of looks kind of like a summer halo in rh. But not enough to be considered a copy. Other than that most items look inspired by rh or inspired by the items theme in general. People did care about Astro before it was boycotted. When I was playing in the summer. It had a small following of 100+ players per day. I never heard anyone say it was a copy before. In addition, avoid thinking Astro is treated like "another version of royal high." It has similarities such as the dress up feature, levels, and toggles. But if you say astro is a copy it is like saying all of the fashion games in the play store are copies of each other. Which is incorrect because fashion games like Life makeover have enough features to differentiate from others. Life makeover is more story based using energy to get through each part of the mystery while crafting clothes to be able to pass certain levels. While another game I played involved a similar idea, using energy to pass through levels and crafting clothes to pass levels. But this had a fashion show against your opponent where your clothes theme and pose determine if you win. As in Life makeover, was more based on your clothes theme rather than pose. These games are similar but different enough to not be copies of each other. In addition the other game had a more 3d realistic style while life makeover had an anime 3d model style. This goes with astro and rh. Rh has a more royal prince and princess theme. As Astro is based in space and exploration quests. In the end, rh and astro are similar but not enough to say astro is a copy.

Maybe I'm reading this comment wrong but I'm not trying in any way to discourage people from playing games such as AR??? I'm not saying that it will be a phase and in the video I clearly state that people are just promoting it the wrong way. We should be careful to not simply brand it as a dupe. If it's only known as a "replacement" it will negatively affect the game's long term growth.
i’m sorry but astro renaissance has definitely copied royale high. a lot of the items are direct replicas of accessories in royale high. if royale high wasn’t being boycotted, i feel like most people wouldn’t care about astro renaissance, and just see it as a copy.
Yeah, great point. Astro Renaissance probably would have been treated a lot differently under different circumstances. Many things in the game are also pretty similar to Royale High... but there's only so much creativity that can be put out when the game devs are aware of what gameplay/items have been more popular in the past.
@pixiexstar31 I like to disagree with you. Most items in Astro from my view look original. I don't see any direct replicas (I played the game in the summer of 2023 and have a lot of the items). The only "direct replica" I could see is the summer 2023 halo. Since when you toggle it. It kind of looks kind of like a summer halo in rh. But not enough to be considered a copy. Other than that most items look inspired by rh or inspired by the items theme in general. People did care about Astro before it was boycotted. When I was playing in the summer. It had a small following of 100+ players per day. I never heard anyone say it was a copy before.
In addition, avoid thinking Astro is treated like "another version of royal high." It has similarities such as the dress up feature, levels, and toggles. But if you say astro is a copy it is like saying all of the fashion games in the play store are copies of each other. Which is incorrect because fashion games like Life makeover have enough features to differentiate from others. Life makeover is more story based using energy to get through each part of the mystery while crafting clothes to be able to pass certain levels. While another game I played involved a similar idea, using energy to pass through levels and crafting clothes to pass levels. But this had a fashion show against your opponent where your clothes theme and pose determine if you win. As in Life makeover, was more based on your clothes theme rather than pose. These games are similar but different enough to not be copies of each other. In addition the other game had a more 3d realistic style while life makeover had an anime 3d model style. This goes with astro and rh. Rh has a more royal prince and princess theme. As Astro is based in space and exploration quests. In the end, rh and astro are similar but not enough to say astro is a copy.
@@JinxedJess Theres a lot of small details that are similar to Royale High such as the gaming machine that gives you a valkyrie depending on your luck, its kinda like the fountain in Royale High. I just feel like the devs of Astro Renaissance just got a little too inspired and I mean its not bad but it just feels like a rip off and honestly RK2 and Astro Renaissance are just games heavily inspired from Royale High.

Rip offs are literally identical things that are just meant to give the creator of the copied game money and stuff, RK2 and AR got inspired like you said, they're not these cheap imitation replicas that only care about how their bags are being filled. Matter of fact they're doing a way better job than rh does managing their newer players and also being more inclusive (sorry i rambled a bit in the end there and went a bit off topic)
