A simple video of how i made it possible to always keep a spare charge of around 20/25km with you. So you will always find your way back home.
Its made of 2 1500watt lion batteries, a total of 3kw. So you might think i should get 50% charge out of it. But because of the losses of the DC to AC and then back to DC converting i only get around 40% charge. With is fine by me, considering how little space it takes up from my twizy.

Strange wire connection, I recon the efficiency should be like 60-70%. Would it be better to connect the extra battery to the main battery in parallel?

This is more a mobile, built-in, charger than a range extender, but still cool nonetheless.
Amazing video my friend. Can you use extension lead cable for charging the twizy ? My socket is a bit far in my building and I suffer to charge it. If yes, what is the best specs , like 16 or 13 amp ?

@@bentwizy7208 Maybe ! I'm still looking for a range extender for my Twizy (but DC to AC and AC to DC, it's clearly not the best solution but it's one solution)
@@MarcPaal sadly its to only solution in case of the twizy.
@@bentwizy7208 That is actually not correct, you cant charge it on the move cause the sevcon denies it, but you can dc charge while driving to the rekuporation.

@@bentwizy7208 - I don't know. I saw a movie on RUclips and a few different fora had questions and discussions about it.
Thought the panel could provide the extra power drawn by (some of) the mods, - the GPS, power for the phone and tablet, heaters, sound...
@@acresir yeah you can use the solar pannel for the 12v battery mayby. but i dont see the point.
hi, I have a twizy 80, I am aware that a twizy on the move consumes more than the 2kW that you can load with your wonderful range extender, but I still wanted to ask you a question: have you tried driving the twizy with the range extender on? Is it possible to turn it on, go to "Go" and drive without problems? Sorry for the strange question but I'm curious ;) thanks

Hi, will it charge the main battery if the charge lid is closed and the ignition is on???
not full on, but halfway on then yes. if the twizy is ready to drive than it won't work. just like when you normal charge. you other comment, i dont think this wil work. how can it see break input when you are giving gas? and also, it wil try to put energy back in the spare batteries, and they cant handle more than 15a charge current.

Why not put a generator instead? Looks like there is enough room to fit one of little honda's.
yes this could work. but you need 2000watt output power, then you will be fine. nut gas is 2 euro a liter. the only reason i buy a twizy is for the cheap running cost. i use solar to charge my twizy and my extra battery. works great.

Why you just donc plug a second battery in parallel to the genuine battery?
because, 1 there is no room for that. 2, you need the same battery as already in the twizy. 3, you need to be really smart in electronics to trick the twizy and still have the BMS work.
@@bentwizy7208 you can parallel in a DC/DC converter that delivers 57V to the speed controller . So you do not connect a battery in there directly. Quite like what you've done but with a 57V dc output to the controller instead. It will treat this charge as regen.

Real daily range?
driving around 50kmh its about 80km in normal wheater. driver 80 makes a close to 45/50 km.

If this is the newest model then they still haven't upgraded very well. After so many critics they still haven't made proper windows. They will keep playing with this selfishness behavior!
Renault has definitely neglected the Twizy and it is infuriating.
But it's also infuriating that a 2012 EV microcar is still competitive compared to other new microcars like the Citroen Ami.
Honestly, all these heavy quadricycles can't compare to what China has in store.
