I've actually been doing this challenge every day for the past few days and I started at 50, then 55, then today I did 60 in a row. Feels good to make improvements!
I wonder if the reason he did it on his fingers is so he doesn’t have to come down as far to form a 90 degree angle with his arms. I think once you get to a certain level of strength the main thing that limits you is how fast you can go up and down. Obviously if you have more strength in the fast twist muscle fibers you can push yourself up faster with explosive bursts. But you can’t control how fast you fall back down. We all fall at the same rate do to gravity and we can’t push ourselves down, so once you get to a certain level of strength a significant amount of your time is wasted waiting to fall back down. To compensate for this it looks like he is giving himself a slightly shorter distance to fall back down before he can push up again. This doesn’t take away from his accomplishment of course and it doesn’t change the fact finger push ups are harder, even if he’s not doing the full range of motion. But it looks to me like doing finger pushups might be a necessary time optimization to maximize your push-ups.
See I'm not sure about that regarding the rules since it's about getting to lock out and to 90° elbow, so the speed would be mostly in how wide a grip you can go without losing strength overall.
@@thelegendarysupersaiyanbro6535 Yeah. You could conceivably pull yourself down but it would be hard to do without a bar or something easy to grip onto.

guys thanks to your videos i also started doing pushups and at 42.3 percent body fat levels i still am able to do around 20 pushups consecutively....thank you guys for the motivation
I was really curious about this. Using energy and kinematics equations, I found that the maximum push-ups a person can do on earth is given by x=30sqrt(4.9/L) where x is the number of pushups in a minute and L is the range of motion in meters. Let's say the push-up is moving a 30cm range. That gives a maximum of 121 push-ups. Attempting to do more push-ups than that would actually result in a force that creates a velocity where your hands would leave the ground on the ascent and increase the length of the range of motion which would actually decrease the number of push-ups you can do. And you can only fall as fast as gravity allows. So this dude is actually really close to his maximum.
@@Lyxtwa I did a push-up next to the wall and used a ruler. Obviously it's not accurate. But you can use whatever value for L that you want. Whatever value you think approximates the range of your push-ups. As far as air resistance goes, it would have a small affect. A larger fault with how the formula is derived is that it implies that you can instantaneously change your velocity from the descent to the ascent. In reality, there is a small time involved in that acceleration. Like you said though, this means the real maximum is even lower. Probably closer to 115 or so.
@@dukerajkumar3408 The number of push-ups a person can do in one minute is bounded by gravity and the length of your arms in the same way that walking speed is bounded by gravity and the length of your leg. Beyond a certain point you would exert enough force in your walk that your entire body would leave the ground like a skip instead of a walk. This is why the moonwalkers had to skip on the moon, because gravity was so low that the force they exerted was far beyond what would keep them on the ground. To walk normally, they'd have to walk very slowly. For a push-up, a certain force is required to bring you up, if you push too hard you would leave the ground temporarily. Therefore, you can compute the maximum rate a person can do push-ups proportional to the force of gravity and the length of the arm. Just the right amount of force is necessary to bring you up to your maximum arm length (the range of motion L in the equation) such that you don't leave the ground, then gravity brings you back down. The times for each part of the motion can be computed and a minimum time can be discerned. The equation above shows you the maximum possible number of push-ups you can do in one minute depending upon the length, L, of the range of motion. It's an approximation though, obviously air resistance and other factors play into it as well, but they would only lower the approximation. So the formula is a decent upper bound.
Damn impressive doing that many Finger Pushups!! Anyone else remember having to do finger pushup for basketball training?? They are so difficult. This record sounds like a new conspiracy theory to me haha.

Don’t feel bad guys! My max was 10 about a year ago and now I can do around 25. I used to do 32 a couple months ago but I’ve been slacking lol. What I did was do 100 push-ups daily, ten at a time. I usually spread it out throughout the day
That weird finger thing is called "double joints" in reality it's just weak ligaments in the fingers which is why you can't do much finger push ups. I have it too.
TLDR: You can't do more than a 112 push ups, because maths If you assume one can have infinite power, the pace of your reps would still be constrained by how quickly gravity would pull you back to the floor, as you can't actively pull yourself to the floor without handles. Then, if you are assuming a 90 degree angle, the distance your upper body has to travel is approximately the length of your upper arm. Let's assume that's 35cm from joint to joint, then the time gravity takes to get you in a down position is equal to t = √(2*s/g) = √(2*0.35/9.81) = 0.267125 seconds. The up movement would take about the same time as you're waiting for gravity to slow you down again, so a full push up would take approximately 0.534 seconds. In 60 seconds you would thus be limited to 112 push ups. This is assuming you are infintely powerful and can basically 'bounce' in your lower position. There is no power involved in any other part then this 'bounce', because the rest of the movement you're basically waiting for gravity to bring you back down again. The only thing beyond this that would allow you to do more push-ups is shorter arms or increased gravity
I haven't done pushups in ages. Like an idiot, I just tried them after seeing this, on a full stomach. I had a little more gas in the tank, but my stomach was not having it. I might have been able to get 30. I'm 45 and I weigh 260, so I don't think I did terrible. They were not finger push ups. I've broken my fingers too many times to try that.
Interesting, I’m sure the record holder has found the optimal finger positioning. I wonder if the second guy may be able to get close to the record if he trained for this.
8:15 wait he broke the world record for the most finger push ups in 30 secs from google: The most one finger push ups in 30 seconds was 41 and was achieved by Xie Guizhong (China) on the set of CCTV- Guinness World Records Special in Beijing, China, on 8 December 2011
im not strong so i tried the finger push up i thought that cant be to much harder so i did a normal one fine tried on my fingers and realised oh thats alot harder i went for it and just went down no up just down and died
Don’t get me wrong, but when it comes down to world records, there should be exact rules on how the form should look like. 109 is impressive nonetheless, but his core was really hanging low from the beginning, and if it wasn’t for that, idk if he could’ve gotten to 109…
Not that I can do anymore than 5 normal pushups, but the fact that this guy did 109 finger pushups which as demonstrated is tougher than normal push ups. Haves my respect!
@@RajSharma-vx6eh how could I know his form was poor without watching the video? Anyway, this is is the exact reasons why I don't take these records seriously. His for wasn't good from the very first rep and letting your legs drop shouldn't be allowed.

That weird finger thing is called "double joints" in reality it's just weak ligaments in the fingers which is why you can't do much finger push ups. I have it too.
sad this person be like ruclips.net/video/sfMfBcRItLM/видео.html
Yikes. Well at least it's convenient in jiu-jitsu. Otherwise not so much.
I have it too on all my fingers... and whenever i do it my friends gets amazed haha

Epic video man I hope you become a champion body builder and become such a pro dude
The guy in the blue shirt is ready to switch shirts with superman
TLDR: You can't do more than a 112 push ups, because maths
If you assume one can have infinite power, the pace of your reps would still be constrained by how quickly gravity would pull you back to the floor, as you can't actively pull yourself to the floor without handles.
@@TheCameraman224 Rubber bands could work, but adding extra mass does nothing as this doesn't increase your acceleration towards the earth.
Wouldn't that be different considering the join to joint movement distance can differ, like take 30 cm it should be around 121 pushups.
Time to go to the moon 🌛
@@rioksek8930 Exactly, which I stated in my final remark about having shorter arms
@@tijmenwillard2337 my bad didn't read it
I haven't done pushups in ages.
30 pushups at 260 is very good, ESPECIALLY at 45
Interesting, I’m sure the record holder has found the optimal finger positioning. I wonder if the second guy may be able to get close to the record if he trained for this.
You guys are awesome dudes expecially that blue t shirt guy 🔥.......
Your videos are addictive ❤️
Me when I get 10 pushups: I think it's time to call it a day.
Him: oh yeah ez 109 pushups in 1 minute
8:15 wait he broke the world record for the most finger push ups in 30 secs
from google:
The most one finger push ups in 30 seconds was 41 and was achieved by Xie Guizhong (China) on the set of CCTV- Guinness World Records Special in Beijing, China, on 8 December 2011

I think bending at the core makes the movement a lot easier + finger, although impressive, reduces ROM possibly.

im not strong so i tried the finger push up i thought that cant be to much harder so i did a normal one fine tried on my fingers and realised oh thats alot harder i went for it and just went down no up just down and died
Thanks for showing us the actual difficulty guyz
Good job Browney and Arjen!! Proud of you!!!
Don’t get me wrong, but when it comes down to world records, there should be exact rules on how the form should look like. 109 is impressive nonetheless, but his core was really hanging low from the beginning, and if it wasn’t for that, idk if he could’ve gotten to 109…
no...lmao.
If u think u r so good, just beat the record in ur own way, taking care of those rules... it's easy to sit on a couch and judge
Yeah, this is why Guiness is garbage. The rules they set allow people to have garbage form

His form was pretty poor though

@@RajSharma-vx6eh how could I know his form was poor without watching the video? Anyway, this is is the exact reasons why I don't take these records seriously. His for wasn't good from the very first rep and letting your legs drop shouldn't be allowed.

I just turned 57 on 2/3/22 and I did 40 regular pushups in 1 minute. Might have been able to do 45 if I had really pushed at the end, and if my left shoulder wasn't hurting. You guys ROCK.
57! You're the rock man
Man, great job hitting 40 pushups in a minute, at 57. That is amazing, and I am very happy for you :)
From his waist down he’s planking.. I’m not trying to say this guy isn’t a tank.. but he’s clearly changing his form for speed, rather than “long term growth” for the soul purpose of this video. It’s something we can all practice.
hes not trying to get in shape in the video, he is trying to get a world record, did you understand it now?
Yep 9 pushups on fingers like Browney has is impressive

Oh wow I didn't know. Manipur has something going on.
Lol, I remember doing only 52 push ups in 60sec for my Physical Education practical exam. I had a competition with my classmate and he used to go to the gym so he did do 63 or 64 something, in 60 sec. Well we both got full marks on that. XD
Cause 50 was the limit to get full marks.
We had to do either 50 push ups or 50 crunches in 60secs and I already know I can't risk my marks so I went with push ups.
But push ups are harder then crunches right?
BRUH only 52 push-ups in 60 seconds that's really good
Ever thought of using a bar instead of the ground? Using a pushup bar makes so you can pull yourself down, and more control
Im from Manipur and pretty proud that now many will know where Manipur is😍
