I agree, I got the All Mahogany CD-60SCE arriving Thursday and expect top notch sound and playability ! There's a great video out on youtube but I can't remember the guitarist but Paul Davids contacted a bunch of "known players" to a music challenge and one of them showed up with what he did and he bought a new "Glarry" for the occasion and it sound awesome ! I've seen guys playing with the Allman Brothers with a Squire and it sounded great. I think there are too many self appointed experts on RUclips but the bad comes with the good in life.
The CD-60 is cheap, but very great in playabiltiy and tone. I own the black one 4 Years now, and it is my favourite til now beside some Epiphones i own. If you start playing now, get this one. If you need one mobile, get this one. You won't get a better one for this price. SC 4 example means single cut, to reach higher tones on 20th fret easier, where the section downside is missing. As a Beginner you dont need that, just get a normal cd-60. If you like to play guitar after a while, you'll get some others as well.
Fender: put your 6-on-a-side headstock on all your acoustic guitars as on the Redondo. It is superior to the traditional 3+3 headstock. That's why so many said of the Telecaster, 'It stays in tune.' Also, make a few high-quality acoustics with compensated bridges. Borrow some techniques from Ovation: ditch the pins.
More like price-to-performance, so the overall quality of the materials, build, and how it feels and sounds for you to play compared to its price point.
I paid $200 for a Fender CD model and a year later bought a Martin DX-1 for $500 and the Martin made the fender sound like a shoebox with strings. The Martin absolutely destroyed the Fender. Fender makes great electric guitars. My personal experience with their acoustic wasn't that great. If any of you are thinking of buying one you might wanna save a little more and by an entry level Martin. I can guarantee you won't find sound like the Martin for $500 anywhere else. They sound like there more expensive high-end guitars. Only difference is material used. But you can better Martin isn't going to put there name on anything that's not Martin quality sound. I can without a doubt tell you that you'll absolutely melt when you play one. I say this assuming the buyer is already a decent player or they're set on learning the guitar. Don't go spend $500 on anything unless you know you're going to stick with it lol.
Lol you literally got a guitar that's over twice as expensive. It's not even a surprise it would sound better. Forget the brand, just build quality, materials, QA, etc, would be much higher for a $500 guitar = better sound.
@Ricardo Sotosan I don't even own the DX-1 anymore. I now play a D-28. And I can guarantee your "4k Martin" ain't blowing shit away when it comes to my D-28.
@St4rlord It's not that dumb when you compare all the guitars you can get for under $1000. Which isn't that many at all. They all start around $500 and go down. And what im saying is the Martin X series is the best guitar for that up to $500 range. Yes it does cost more than double as the fender but the sound difference is even a bigger than the price difference. If you can pay $200 for a guitar you can pay $500. Just wait longer and keep saving your money. Because once you do decide to buy a Martin X series that $200 you spent on the fender is gonna be a waste. All in all I'm saying it's smarter to just save your money and buy the Martin. Of course if you're really serious about wanting to learn to play.
Well, I wouldn't say that it's for beginners at all, I have it and it's an extraordinary well sounding guitar
Which one?
Ya, which one??

At the price they cost in my country, you'd best be a non-beginner to spend that much on a guitar.

The CD-60S solid top is the better bet with the solid top
The solid top is a wiser choice

I’m always curious about what defines a good beginner instrument; is it the price or low action or something else?
Overall quality of the guitar for a low/mid price
More like price-to-performance, so the overall quality of the materials, build, and how it feels and sounds for you to play compared to its price point.
It should be the price, low action and softer string.
Playability
Fender makes some great acoustic guitars. Even Elvis played them.
I'm very happy with mine

Price is more than doubled so what can we expect about the quality, right? Comparing a 200$ and 500$ guitar is dumb
