YOUR ice maker video's are NUMBER ONE
Great idea for access around your panel box. And it looks nice too. Good job Andrew
Thank you
Great design of the room for future expansion from the Thinker Tinkerer!
Hi, Andrew! You made quick work of this solar room. I am eager to observe as you continue your solar project. See you Sunday.
See you then
Would love a short video showing that breaker panel cover. Looked awesome.
Good job! I like how the access panel is held in by the metal cover of the breaker box.
Me too, doesn't require ugly looking screws.
What up Doe!?
Nice! very nice!!
Can't wait to see all the science projects coming to life in the operating room😂
Great job 👍🏼
Love your projects Andrew and what you come up with and you always finish every thing off so nice 👍👍. Love your videos and content. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Thank you
Good idea using the ladder to support the far end of the roof sheathing! 0:56
Got to get creative when working alone.
Thanks for the build video. I try to plan ahead for expansion and easy of modification, because it will happen. Great job
Yes it will!
Andrew, very cleaver design. I am going to use your panel access door for my wet wall on my outdoor shower and toilet off my pole barn. Very well thought out. Thank you for sharing your designs.
Thank you, I like the access it gives me.
Another terrific video. Keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
Awesome 👏 great job.
Project is looking good!
Thanks
Did you feel like you we’re building the house again? It was funny how the rooster started crowing and stopped real fast like he knew you were making a video and he needed to be quiet! Another great build!!!
LOL that's because I kept retaking the talking scenes over and over. That rooster is making recording very difficult.
Awesome. Cool build out.
Thank you for watching
Great work... 🙂
I can't wait to see more videos!!!
Coming soon!
Awesome content. I love the channel. 😀
Glad you enjoy it!
Nice job
Red Poppy Ranch has a great Solar setup on his house/channel. There is some prepper channel in Florida that has a great solar setup as well but i cant remember the name.
You really got a 'handle' on the 'panelling'... 🙂
Zinger!
Wow!!! Your puppy is magic!!! He teleports from one spot to another without walking!!
That said, I like the removable panel for accessing the knock-outs to the box for future wiring projects. This was well thought out!!! Great job!!! Oh, was that a reliance inlet?
Sure was!
Nice!
Thanks!
I pulled the cord And purchased a 2400 watt Anker unit yesterday. I already have a gas generator, but with storms coming in Oklahoma now, it’s time.
I used your Amazon account to help where I can.
It’s amazing how a working man as yourself can quit a career and do this. 30 years younger I be there with you.
👍 on your channel.
Wow thank you! Did you get the 767 model or a different one. I've been very curious about the 767.
@@TKCL yes 767 model,
Nice! Let me know how you like it, I am hearing really good things about that model.
Great job again Andrew. Ripping a full sheet of plywood by yourself on a table saw is not easy to do. I had to buy a straight edge guide, lay the plywood on trestles covered with rigid foam. There is no way I could do it on my table saw and keep the edges straight. Great job.
Yes it is a struggle.
Your project insight and pre-planning for future scenarios never ceases to amaze me! 👍💜💜
Thank you for watching
Very well thought out; you have a real gift for that in all of your builds. Looking forward to seeing all of the testing for sure!
Thank you very much
I wished you would show how the wiring is connected such as outlets, switches etc
The reason I skimmed over it is because there are probably 20-40 videos on the channel of me covering all that in great detail while I was building my house. People got burnt out on it. I will show in detail the DC wiring as that's something I have never done before.
Them precision cuts! 👍👍 awesome work
It's good to see the organization of the shop underway 😊
It looks much better now. I spent a lot of time after this video cleaning up.
I was wondering why you didn't insulation it. I heard your reason. I think insulation is needed not for heat/air purposes but for sound. You plan on testing things in it and will be filming it, I'm sure. I would think you'd want silence which you may or may not get without insulation.
Echo on bare walls will be more of a problem than outside noises.
❤
🤘
👍👍👍
Yes a wood burning stove sounds like an excellent idea. Much better than what you have now. Yes I know the doors are open and you have lots of ventilation, but what you have both produce CO2 and CO, right into your working area. A wood stove also produces CO2 and maybe CO, but both these are flued outside, so you can close the doors and get toasty warm in that shed.
Just a quick question. I notice you nailed the plywood to the walls and screwed it to the roof,.. on the outside that is. Is there a reason for that? I'm guessing it's the code in your area.
I should have waited until the end before commenting. You may want to pull the roof up for future wiring jobs. Good job.
I also run a CO2 monitor in my shop for added safety.
Your equipment room is looking great! What thickness of plywood did you use on the walls?
5/8, couldn't find 3/4 locally but I feel confident 5/8 will hold substantial weight. I also added extra studs to all corners for strength.
you forgot the hurricane straps!😊
On interior framing?
He's cutting up!
I think Ruger is suggesting that you hurry up with his big pool, hot weather is ahead:))) p.s. No nasty weather around you yesterday?
Yesterday was beautiful, we took Ruger to the river and he swam all day. Today we are expecting rain.
A few major issues here... First off you have no insulation. Next inverters put off heat the more power you use the more heat the inverters put off.. Most typically a battery room uses a high end split a/c unit of some kind to keep the batteries and inverter at a constant temp. Here is what I would do if I had the income and was doing this. First off no less than 450 watt panels remember the 50% rule that is associated with power station Generation.. You never want to exceed the 50% of the actual load that your system can power. This is done for reliability reasons. This is why equipment is some times marked down even though they could technically handle the power it can't handle it for long extended times. So 32 450 watt panels so I call it a 16 by 16 series in parallel for starters. Then Create a backup solar panel system that can be layed out after a hurricane or major storm event as a just in case your outside panels become destroyed. Remember your ultimate goal is to live comfortably while rebuilding no one wants to rebuild no one wants go through a storm but having it as a just in case often times helps when your put on the spot.. Next I would probably go with Vectron Energy because in the industry there stuff is better configured for multi use controlling measures like battery monitoring and stuff.. I would probably recommend 24-V - 3000 VA (UL) Version only you can add up to six of them. Then for starters on Battery packs I would go with several 24v Lifepo4 Batteries I have one and love it its a 100 ah I spent about 800 dollars on it and it worked with my mobility scooter for days before needing a charge. I would say 6x6 in series totally 12 in Parallel on the batteries per Inverter charge controller unit (Vectron 24-V - 3000 VA UL). Can't wait to see which route you go down but don't forget to condition that space that will be important when your inverters are under load. Looks like an awesome project!
I have already ventilated the room and will monitor running temps. I am fully prepared to install an AC if needed. Don't forget as of now this is a backup system and I have never intended to go fully off grid. With that said, there is a real possibility as I continue to build out the system, I will take the shop off grid (still grid tied for any potential needs) and monitor the system. I have paid great attention to energy usage in my shop and with the current inverter setup I'll almost always be running at about 25% or less capacity of the inverters (when I add a second one). The only exception is on days where I am welding and doing heavy work in the shop. I plan to flip to grid power on those days. It will cost me a little over $30 a month to stay grid tied whether I use power or not.
Would love to see you operate a mini split ac off solar. I have been pondering it after watching some videos where they are running them in RVs
I'm planning on putting one in my processing room a little later on. I think they will be very efficient and good on power.
All in one stackable battery if you can. just saying
I'll eventually get to those.
Looks nice ! Was curious if any regulations in Florida regarding fire safety with batteries , around here need at least fire rated sheet rock in garage . Does this need to meet NFPA 855 if you are going to mount batteries inside ?
This is a non home attached ag barn. No such rules apply that I'm aware of. For a home??? . Absolutely there would be specific requirements I'd need to meet, especially to comply with insurance ect.
Thanks for the reply ! I’ve been really thinking about getting some backup power haven’t done a ton of research yet but trying to figure out what would be best - conventional gas generator vs batteries and long term safety of it all - in a dense typical suburban neighborhood, I realize it’s totally different application but find your videos insightful and entertaining , always learn something watching !
Huge difference between the two, cost and operational wise.
That turned out nice, I love building stuff but no matter how many squares, levels and tape measures I use. It looks like crap to me. Lol Iwas wondering if there is a timer or some equipment u can tie into the electrical that allows you to set so you could switch from on grid to your own solar besides adding and using the manual disconnect breaker? I cant afford the whole solar package but would like to start small and add on later. Atm id like to try solar during the day while wife and I are at work then eves b back on grid when we need more power then my setup would provide all night. I live in Maine so im expecting I would need decent amount of panels with batteries. Idk yet still reading and watching your ideas..😅 thank you
I don't know of any switch like that, but some wall inverters offer the ability to swap back and forth by programming.
Andrew, are you in contact with YT Engineer 775? That guy is the solar guru and I'm sure he would collaborate.
Never watched him that I'm aware of
Any reason why you rolled the paint instead of using your Graco sprayer? Overspray concerns? Also, I saw you used your tape measure in both build videos. What happened to your laser tape measure that you used for the house build?
I still use the laser all the time, but for longer runs. Old habit of using the tape on short runs. I definitely didn't want over spray in my shop.
Hey Andrew, why didn't you insulate the room?🤣🤣 You always do such good work. God bless.
Oh geeze lol
👀
Andrew,is that the leftover paint from the house?
Sure is, saving money where I can.
You doing a roof vent ?
Yep, already installed.
I say I'm 1st but Andrew says I'm not 🤷🏽♂️ 😩
Looks like you got it on my screen .
