If Pokemon Black and White came out for gen 1 for the gameboy, I think it would be even more remembered. The rivals, the music, the story was so good. People could argue that Blue was better rival because he was bad ass and felt that he was always ahead of you. The story, and the post game was of course better than the original Red and Blue. I think a lot of gen wunners are missing on these amazing Pokemon games. My top 3 generations. 3.) Gen 3 2 ) Gen 2 1.) Gen 5
The initial reason Pokémon succeeded was because of the original designs, resembling very rare animated Japanese creatures which you could collect and trade with friends, specially desirable for young audiences. It is because of the designs and the amount of monsters the reason why it was also different from other J-RPG games and why it performed incredibly well in merchandising and the TV series, attracting the attention of adults and eventually leading the franchise to the point of being reworked to continue indefinitely. If Pokémon came out like Black and White did, it wouldn't have been that appealing at all, many of the designs are mostly ugly and copycats of real life animals, so its games wouldn't have even came out of Japan to begin with. Besides, Pokémon BW story factor is overrated, at the end of the day, there's no real innovation on gameplay, we still follow the same formula as always: Professor, Rival, evil Team, Elite 4, win (at least, Pokémon Sun added something different in the form of trials and Totem Pokémon). I know you Gen 5 fanboys can't live without calling critic voices "genwunners", but that's the uncomfortable truth I show to you (the comment is currently 6 years old, but I don't care, I've met very toxic fans, whether thou'st calmed down during these years or not is something I don't really care about).
Gen 5 lacked many of the spin-offs we once enjoyed in the previous ones, a gen isn't only defined by its core games (the best we got was PokePark 2 and a PMD game, with a huge paywall, and whose amount of dungeons was still inferior to the previous ones, Pokémon Conquest didn't even get translated in some parts of Europe).
I busted into tears when N's farewell came on and laughed at the sweet memories of the N theme. I beat the game in three days playing nonstop. I should have taken my time so I could have liven these memories more! I wish I could go back in time... Just like the game boy version. I would do anything to do it again with my team of Pokemon! I would do it all over again just for the fun of it!

Wow, this completely changed my view upon Black and White... now I feel like they fit into the franchise just as much as the previous games. I loved the whole video, but my favorite part was Ghetsis' theme. It reminded me of just how much creepy the original Pokémon games were with the Lavender Town and this theme in 8-bit and Ghetsis are just as creepy.

Your GB remixes have brought peace to me and my group of friends, We now accept B/W in the pokémon family. The screenshots just show there isn't too much a difference from the first 4 gens.
I had that complaint at first, too. However, the more I played these games and its sequels and compared to them to the other games, I saw that making the region linear allowed for more creativity and more unique areas with each new area in the game. While some dungeons in past gens looked more or less the same with different puzzles, like Mt. Mortar and Tohjo Falls, or Mt. Moon and Cerulean Cave. They were all more or less caves and forests with different HM puzzles.
The very first Pokémon game I ever played which was Pokémon Black Version was literally the best. And that ending actually made me cry all those 11 years ago back when I was 11. I'll never forget the memories I've made a d lessons I've learned and the friends I've made and just how much I've evolved thanks to Pokémon. Thank you Generation 5, thank you Pokémon, for everything.😭🔲🔳👋🙂
I personally don't mind the linearity since I tend to fight Gym Leaders in regular order anyway, but I can see where you're coming from. I agree in that I was a bit disappointed when I found that B/W didn't have Gym Leader rematches and I'll also concede that they could've made Cynthia's levels higher. They're still my personal favorites (haven't played B/W 2 yet), but you have good points, and I'll admit that I also like G/S/C/HG/SS. They're second favorites of mine alongside R/S/E.

"The path to the Pokémon League... isn't a straight fucking line." If they let you fight the Gyms in any other order, B/W's plot would get jumbled out of order. If you paid attention to the story and character interactions, you might've noticed this. "They are the only games that have 2 regions" That combined aren't much larger than most other regions. Kanto and Johto are smaller than you might think. "Let you battle Red of the previous games" B/W lets you battle Cynthia of the previous games.
I find its a good thing for it to be linear, look back at gold and silver, as great as thous games were once you beat Morty then you get 2 branching paths and 3 gyms that are all around the same difficulty, the levels got all screwy considering you could have 6 badges be all powerful and fight a bunch of things in their mid 20s and early 30s making putting you at somewhat low levels by the 8th gym, while the more linear games had a consistent curve causing much less grinding to be needed.
Oh... "Emotions theme" in 8 bits... TTuTT "Embracing the mission/N´s castle bridge" & "N´s Castle theme" in this video remember me the first Final Fantasy games...

Back in my day, Poke'mon were based off turtles, dragons, and dinosaurs. Now, they are based off boars, otters, and snakes... and I have to say, I see no difference.

I was mentioning the gym leaders B2W2. All of the ones I mentioned are either in the PWT or in the main storyline. Koga isn't in the PWT and Iris isn't a Gym Leader anymore.

1. I already cleared all of Black and its story...yes the set is more story driven than any others, but the linearity was bullshit. They could've made it work while giving the exploration factor to the games that the Pokemon games were DESIGNED around. 2. It actually adds a lot more to the game than YOU think. Besides, B/W also didn't have rematchable Gym Leaders, and B/W 2 don't; spamming the World Tournament isn't an exp thing. 3. Cynthia's levels don't even come close to that of Red.
