  • Jason McElwain’s story is one of trial, triumph, and inspiration. Diagnosed with Autism at a young age, Jason’s love for basketball grew throughout his youth, leading him to serve as the student manager for his beloved Greece Athena High School. But one night in 2006, everything changed. Jason, in his first and only appearance for the team, caught fire, scoring twenty points in just six minutes. His performance captivated the crowd and inspired a nation, and thirteen years later, it’s lead to Jason returning to the game, but this time as a coach. This is the Jason McElwain story.

@@taco2947 my sisters best friend is his neighbor. New York State has numerous things set up for adults with disabilities plus even the assistant coaches on varsity are unpaid. Only head coaches in New York State get paid and it's a fixed amount..it was a rule put in place to avoid coaches always switching schools..so essentially now it only happens in private schools. Unless that changed recently but. It's dumb but so is everything New York State does.

@@mazzle927 Same in Michigan pretty much! Most Head Coaching jobs hardly pay anything at all! 95% of Public School Head Coaches in Michigan work for the school as some sort of teacher so they can get paid and coach! They get a small bonus on their teacher salary if theyre a coach but its hardly anything at all. I remember my Football coach telling me how he spends more out of his pocket for our team than he ends up making for being a head coach!
