I think they are very good. Not really genius level though. After all, None of them broke into stardom before this, it’s a 3 season comedy, so they still will not be able to break into lead roles in films or leading man status in their next series. The genius is not just the acting, it’s the premise and the writing and don’t forget the acting is directed by genius direction ( Jackie van beek anyone?) and edited to get the very best take by directors who are truely talented at comedy in their own right (the breakerupperers anyone?) it’s silly to think the actors are solely responsible for these performances. They are b- list level actors and b-list they will remain. I’d love to see Natasha a regular on comedy panel shows now, she was getting the odd spot here and there before this. But they haven’t yet.
I love how she is simultaneously smarter than Nandor and Lazlo, but still a blithering idiot. It's a hard balance to pull off a character that is both the straight man, and the pratfall.
She kinda fits that sexy + horny librarian trope - if that horny librarian was in a period piece dislodged out of time and overwhelmed by her worst instincts that is fundamentally childish for someone who is supposed to be many many centuries old. Also she doesn't read. And yet relatively, she is much more intelligent and mature than her roommates (except Colin Robinson). To quote her husband Lazlo in the first season, referring to Nandor: "He's blessedly unburdened with the complications of a university education"
“You’re a lying piece of old cabbage” cracks me up every time😂 that and “She used to be such a fresh faced girl, now she just looks like an elephants knee”
Nadja reminds me of my aunt in the way they talk, flirt, charm, and insult. They even have similar facial expressions. Nadja is the best character. Even her wardrobe is beautiful.
One of my favorite scenes is the Karaoke night with Baron where Nadja asks Lazlo if the karaoke machine had The girl in the village with one small foot by Vasilis the balladeer. Lmfao 😂
Not to get too tumblr on here but Nadja is such an important character. She is loud, vulgar, sexual and selfish and we love her for all those traits. It's so hard to find a female character that is free to be as shitty as her male co stars but good lord she delivers and she is amazing for all those "toxic" traits and is great because this is a comedy about amoral vampires. I am so happy to stan her and see her actress have fun being this ancient hedonistic bitch. God bless whoever came up with her character instead the usual trope with women vampires.
The fact that she is well loved means that audiences are ready to see this kind of character and WANT these imperfect female stories. But media producers are slow to catch up.
I'm a big fan of the original movie, but I never watched the series. I was only vaguely aware that there was a series, but after seeing this video I will definitely check it out.
my theory is, like Nandor, she mostly forgot how to actually speak Greek a long time ago so she's just reciting familiar phrases without knowing the literal meaning.
When Nadja is laying across those bar chairs talking about charming the musicians for cash, her face and words remind me so much of Deacon from the original movie.
