I think, for Megas... If Ash does get one... It will be either Lucario or Sceptile.
If it is Sceptile, I think an interesting concept for an episode when it Mega Evolves would be... That Sceptile Mega-Evolves saving a certain female grass type he couldn't before, who makes a return, just like when he evolved from Grovyle to Sceptile trying to save her before... Just saying... He would deserve it.

@@AyaanicBond Same here. And I think it will be a cute and nice touch, especially for Sceptile, if my scenario happens. Odds they bring back Meganium though... Slim to none. One can dream though.

I never understood why they didn't make Ash or his friends use Mega Evolutions in XY. Ash always like to try new things, and yet they made him stay away from Mega Evolutions.
Maybe Journeys might change that and he'll use Mega Evolutions, Z Moves and Dynamax!

Well according to tv tropes and Pokemon showrunners ash and friends getting megas will be considered a story breaking power. So the company made up ash-Greninja to ash as a replacement to mega evolution but he considered OP too so they got rid of him

Interesting z power discussion:
Z power needs the prescence of the island guardians for it work.
We seen in the ultra ruin ep, when guzzlord attacked, that universe’s tapu koko bailed and left everyone caught with their pants down, and no one had the firepower to stop guzzlord without z power.
Also seen in the battle between ash vs kukui. The when both kukui and ash used up their z powers already, the tapus just re activated it.
Therefore, outside of alola, z power is non-existent. (Similar case with the galar particles, eternatus needs to infect the region with his scales)
Counter argument: what about the misty and brock gym battle ep? Kiawe and ash used z powers in kanto.
Who said Koko wasn’t stalking them? I mean, Bewear traveled to kanto to pick up team rocket.
Because unlike bewear, Tapu Koko can’t afford to leave alola because it’s its job to protect Melemele island and aside from the Alola league their were no clear instances of the Tapus leaving their respective islands

koko going great lengths to get ash to have z power, (giving ash a z ring, melemele grand trial crystal swap),
and just overall leading him to the plot (koko helping ash find nebby, koko transporting ash to ultra ruin universe)
and insisting on battling ash 3 times, following ash to kanto once is the only explanation for the z powers in kanto.

I think charizard could mega evolve into X because they have a very strong bond since beginning second would be lucario since they both can use aura.
It will even be tied to the mercy releases

it they going get ash mega stone and key stone all in once in journeys, I could see ash use mega evoultions, z moves, and dynamax/ gmax. mega evoultions : lucario (be first one to get it), mega charizard y ( because of the poor treatment of y got during kalos league I think it fit ash the most), Sceptile, glalie, and Heracross ( Because I don't want goh be one get mega heracross, they could showcase goh getting a mega scizor.) Gengar is up in the air because either mega or gmax I could see gengar getting (if we see that shy guy ghost gym leader in journeys), bring gible back in journeys and evolve all the way to garchomp, and Greninja ( i could see returning in journeys during the ultra ranks)

Continue on. If mega evolutions are potential returning in gen 4 remakes, we could see some new mega evolutions, sinnoh starters are most likely getting mega evolutions along with gen 4 Pokemon. Dynamax/gmax: Pikachu, kingler, and melmetal. Butterfree and lapras( if they returned). If isle of armor arc going be likely be an arc I could see ash getting an urshifu and mustard going be helping ash outto master dynamax and only ash get him to rise kabfu.

they didn't give Ash a mega evolve in xy because they wanted to introduce ash greninja with is similar to mega, but now that ash has his very first official mega in journeys he kind of got two, his ash greninja and mega lucario.

Who’s watching after he’s used 10,00,00 volt thunderbolt against volkner, mega evolved lucario against Bea and has not long taught his Gengar too Gmax
I know this is unrelated but have you noticed something about three of the four trade evolution pokemon from Kanto, alakazam gengar and machamp, alakazam has a mega but not a gmax, machamp has a gmax but not a mega and gengar has both, while golem has neither but does have a regional variant in alola currently.
Personally I'd prefer either Charizard Y or Lucario. Charizard Y so that we can see a parallel battle to Alain at some point. Like one day Ash meets Alain and Sycamore and then Ash remembers his Charizard and brings it back for a match after or during which he gets a Mega Stone

I think that the one of Ash’s Pokemon the most Likely to Mega Evolve is his Lucario asides from it the other two most likely would be Charazard or Secptile and the Form of Mega Charazard I want Ash to get is Mega Charazard Y since that form got poor Treatment in XYand Z when Trevor Used it and it was easy defeated by Alain’s Mega Charazard X so it deserve redemption Mega Blastoise and Mega Garchomp are more likely to be shown by Gary and Iris when they Return and I agree that Goh would more likely have Mega Heracross and I have another way GMax Lapras can be Shown by Lorolei/Prima since Lapras was her Ace but hers was not shown with her back in OS.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but arent the Z-moves only accessible within the Alolan region? Still, would be cool if Ash can use it in the future episodes
We'll see none of this except maybe with something on Lucario because episodes will focus on Goh catching random pokémon and developing aimlessly.
Pardon me Shiny Zoroark but do you even realize Ash owns a Mythical Pokémon Meltmetal right? It can Gigantamax while, Melmetal is one of favorite Steel type and Mythical Pokeomn and it has a Ggigantamax form! If Ash's Melmetal returns in Journeys than it can show G-MAX Melmetal!
