- Now that the Age of the Ring mod v1.0 for The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II: The Rise of the Witch-King patch 2.02 is released, it's time to see what each faction has in their arsenal! Today we will be looking at Isengard and having a good look at each unit and mostly everything they have to offer. Spoiler Alert It's all awesome! :D

Ugluk and uruk scouts are definitely my favorite additions.. They make so much sense and fill a gap in troop variety that isen always has. Idk why they weren't in the base game Tbh.
But man I wish this had some things from 1.09 like floor maps and those wizard staff effects

Akram nah I think he's balanced well.. He's a low tier hero but has some really nice powers
Yeap Ugluk is pretty good, imagine you have a fully upgraded Uruk army, almost low health and Ugluk in the middle of it. Activate Orc Medicine and BOOM!! Full health back again ready to keep on fighting (maybe its a bit OP)
Spin Spir it's not full health I don't believe but yeah it's good. The summon and ability where the uruks get 100% damage is good
I think lore wise it would make more sense that Saruman be the ring hero, since his desire to possess the One has consumed him for such a long time.. Were it within his grasp he would see Sauron destroyed and take his place.. Perhaps you would have to have him decommissioned at the fortress before you can summon Saruman with the ring?
The firearrows and fireballs new fx are amazing!
I think that you got mistaken, Wildmen throw torches in Edain. Cool video and actually I am very proud to see the Uruk Axeman as the Scouts Leader !!!

Spin Spir No wildmen have always thrown torches from towers. At least in old patches from what I remember.

Looks like a great addition to the game. I am playing through LOTR conquest at the moment and really enjoying it.
Back in time when Destro was uploaded and streamed AOTR... Should do that again from time to time...
33:44 the concept of fire arrows is not only weird on a crossbow, it's complete bullshit on any bow. Fire arrows are a thing of fiction, any fire on an arrow would be blown out as soon as it's let loose. If you're interested in that kind of stuff, there are a ton of videos on youtube that debunk that kind of stuff that we see in movies.
You should sent a message to EA. Or the makers of Age of Empires. Or the dozens of medieval movies/games that use fire arrows. But other than that, feel proud that you put those mod makers in their place for their historical inaccuracy when making a Lord of the Rings mod.
I was merely replying to destroyers remark on the weirdness of setting crossbow bolts on fire.
I'm not blaming the mod authors at all, they did a fantastic job making this old game so gorgeous to look at as well as implementing new and exciting features and I am very much looking forward to this mod's future. Small historical inaccuracies pale in comparison of what they have accomplished.
Of course from a game designer's perspective it's hard to think of any realistic and visuably recognisable way of upgrading range units' damage so using the old myth of fire arrows comes naturally, since it's been in games and especially movies for ages. And obviously modders have to work with what the base game is giving them and are (probably) no scholars of medieval warfare.
I didn't want to appear like a know-it-all but I see that I might have done just that.
Fire arrows were used in history albeit very rarely in special cases. There are even remaing arrowheads with small "cages".
Can anybody tell me whats new in the Age of the Ring? And why is everyone so hyped about it?
You're on a channel making videos about Age of the Ring, responding to a video about Age of the Ring, and you still want people to *tell you* what is new.

Another Question , Is the game actually balanced between the factions with this mod ? Since in the normal Second game dwarves and elves were broken and in ROTWK all the good factions and Isengard were too strong imo
I hope in the future versions some heroes get more powers (Ex: Sauron ring form)

It is a mod for RotWK, specifically patch 2.02 version 6.0.0.
Easy to install ? Also is the Good ring hero as strong as Sauron ? If its still Galadriel :p Because in the normal second game sauron basically shits on her xD

How can you make that white line when you position your units (11:12)? And the same when you order to run in circles.

Do you think this Mod is finished after they have released all the base factions? Because there are some superficial things, for example Bolg is a limited time hero, this is ridiculous... or Sauron "ring hero" for Isengard! However we must already wait at least an year ONLY to have all the base factions, think how we should wait for all the fixings... this Mod is too new...

I think it has something to do with Skyrim's main menu since there are a bunch of files in the AotR folder called SkyrimMenu. Dunno how though.
What is the advantage of isengard? Like they have the weakest heroes and army is not the strongest judging by the fact that erebor and elves has stronger army.
Imagine doing a 4vs4 with one team all isengard and they level up their whole army at once with 4 Sarumans.... #lvl10army #sarumanOP

In the case of Saruman, Gandalf, Elrond, Galadriel.. They have thousands of years worth of experience already. And they are all of them beings that wield great power, so.. Makes perfect sense to me
I can see your point of them having thousands of years worth of experience already but that is in the actual world, I'm talking from the game's perspective. To have units start at a such a higher level automatically is terrible game design to me.
Are all the elves' units (Swordsman, Archers etc) going to start at a much higher level than the other factions units? They have thousands of years of experience too. Assuming that orcs retain immortality from once being elves (which I believe they do) do all their units start at higher or max level?
I just mean to say that I think it's poor design to start them off so high immediately. Just my personal criticism, criticism is good so we can think of everything :)

davekat That is correct. None of the elven factions are near ready for a release yet.
I assumed that they were just segregated and forced to leave Middle Earth against their will.

aleksandar şavic I use windows 7. Not many people are still using xp nowadays lol. Even Win 7 is kinda old now :P

Delderan Wolfsblut Well considering I don't really like the edain mod and I love this mod, I'm going to say Age of the Ring lol. Also yes you can play it online. You can use GameRanger or T3A online to play the base game and Rotwk but The aotr mod only works through the T3A servers.
Edain has more various hero abilities and resource buildings, but I don't like the BFME 1 building system, and I think Edain needs a graphical update. AOTR models and design are 100 times better.
About variety: AOTR is a relative new mod, I think they will improve the abilities and gameplay later.
And now 4 isengards taking down 2 whole bases with avalanch....

U did isengard yes!! So much love!! But isengard I feel gets the least love. The buildings compared to the rest always look most vanilla. No scaffoldings or nothing sad.

Wish uruk scouts could get upgrades. They won't be usefull in late game :(
Blade57331 well they are supposed to be an early game unit I would expect so it makes sense. If they did then they would make crossbows and swords kinda pointless in a way.
Well, to be fair. Isengard never had good range units. I mean crossbows and axe throwers have great damage but they don't have that long range. I'm sure you learned that hard way while fighting Elves x)
So scouts could help in it but oh well.
