So, I went ahead and reacted to every single move that was made on day one from the smallest signing to Paul George joining the Philadelphia 76ers. Let's talk about it.

      This has two sides to the story. The obvious one is that any player can look great next to Luka and on a good team that is solidly built and ready for championship contention.
      The other one is that his former teams severely underestimated his usefulness and had no way to utilize his amazing skillsets. The Bulls in particular are known for this shortcoming in not being able to maximize a player's talent. Look at Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr. and Zach Lavine.
      I think DJJ took this opportunity with both hands and showed how good he can really be if given the right circumstance.

    If DJJ didn't change his agent the Mavs will definitely resign him. The reason Maverick pivoting to Marshall is because it will take 15 days to sign DJJ and they just don't want to waste time as they also try to get Klay.

    • @pinobluevogel6458
      @pinobluevogel6458 2 дня назад +1

      Don't get me wrong I love DJJ and what he brought to last season's Mavs, but Naji is an upgrade in versatility and flexibility for sure. DJJ is quicker and way more athletic, but Naji is great passer in his own right and about as good as a defender overall. Scoring wise he also adds a bit more and he is as much as a dog as you can find in this league with his winning mentality.
      Same as JV, I will miss Naji. I'm starting to wonder what the hell are the Pels doing breaking down their defensive identity? They already got rid of 3 of their great defensive bench players. They really haven't made any big moves outside of signing Dejounté Murray. I like him, but the value so far doesn't add up.

      I know theoretically he should be great, getting open 3 pointers from Luka, but so should many others, including Seth Curry (who is about as good as a shooter) and THJ (who is less good but has streaky potential) .. both never really worked out, despite Curry being a decent to good ballhandler and playmaker and THJ not a totally bad defender. Klay might have more of a name, but in practice I see him as another prospect that might not even work.

      Stop blaming Tobias Harris for the SIxers problems. Yes, he had a contract that wasn't according to the value he brings. But it was not like he was actively bad. The main issues for the Sixers was first the Ben Simmons debacle, then the James Harden debacle and overall the massive injury issues plaguing Joel Embiid.
      Just be happy this period of preparing for championships (and almost getting close a few times) is now over and it seems like the squad is a serious roster for a contending team. The negativity on this fanbase is legendary and if anything that karma is biting them in the ass for years.

      The east was legit bad last season, with the only exceptions being the Celtics and a few teams that were clearly better than the rest but not ready for championships yet, like the Sixers, Knicks, Bucks and Cavs. The upcoming young teams like the Magic and the Pacers possibly had just as much clout surrounding them than the other 'supposed' contenders. The truth is, that while the west was stacked and filled to the brim with strong teams, the east was very unbalanced.
      Having the Sixers making big moves, the Knicks doing the same and possibly the Magic also doing work is exciting. They are the clear frontrunners to give the Celtics a run for their money, despite the UniKornet re-signing for them.

    The JV move to Washington does make sense if they want to try and win some more. He's a really good floor raiser, offering a level of offense that will always be there and being a good mismatch for most teams with his size, strength and solid skillset. He rarely misses games and is an extremely hard worker. I would say he is an amazing rolemodel and professional for all the young guys at the Wizards.
    On the other hand, many believe this 'uncaps' the higher level that the Pelicans might go to, they saw him as a (necessary) crutch to get them through this growing phase in their development.
    Personally though, I will miss him. I've grown to love his reliability, his amazing work ethic and personality quite a bit. He was amazing for NOLA and he will be amazing in Washington and give them some great minutes if he is staying there.

      @@Petemo I was kinda joking, since Tobias Harris is the guy criticized heavily by the Sixers fans for using up so much cap space and not being as productive of a player with all that money. He is probably good enough to be on most starting lineups, but I don't think the Sixers fanbase would want him there, nor would he want to return unless he has to.

    I doubt the plan is to start Val and Sarr together, odds are they start the season starting Sarr at the 5, then if he's not ready you start Val, or you start Val to motivate Sarr to earn a starting spot. Either way, I expect Sarr will be the starting center by the end of the season, both probably average over 20 minutes a game while barely sharing the floor

    Thoughts on Tim hardaway to the pistons in exchange for grimes ??

    • @pinobluevogel6458
      @pinobluevogel6458 2 дня назад

      Great move. Grimes is a tenacious defender and in theory worse, but in practice about as good as a shooter. He gives up some experience and a bit of strength, but otherwise he is a younger, upgraded version of what THJ brings.
      It is sad that we barely got to see the potential in Hardaway's game. Though for his sake, in that game 4, him shooting 5 or 6 threes in a row is a much nicer way to remember him. I won't be surprised when he's going to be good at the Pistons.

    Can you guys be a little more precise with your language on the aprons? There are a lot of times when I don't understand whether you mean a move will bring them into the second apron or the first, especially in rapid fire conversation. A lot of times you'll say something like, "this will bring them UP TO the first apron" or "this will cap them AT the first apron" which to me means they will not be subject to the second apron, but by context it seems like it will. Can you just say something like, "this will bring them over the first apron but below the second' or just, "this will keep them below the second apron"?

    • @pinobluevogel6458
      @pinobluevogel6458 2 дня назад

      Because the Pelicans didn't want to pay him what he deserves, he doesn't fit their (desired) system very well and Washington needs a veteran to give Sarr some guidance on integrating himself in the NBA. He might not be there for long, but maybe 1 season is not out of the question, depending on how quickly Sarr develops. JV is a pro, he barely missed any games during his NBA career, I'm expecting him to be as valuable to the Wizards as he was to the Pelicans and the Raptors.

      The Suns were legit good before they had Durant. But they gave up so much and didn't make solid decisions in teambuilding. The Sixers still have their defensive and offensive identity. Joel and Maxey are already amazing, Oubre was great for them and having Drummond as a backup for Joel's bench minutes makes sense too. PG slots in perfectly here, he is probably the 2nd best versatile player in the league. They have one spot left which they can fill with anyone they currently have, or trade for.
      This comparison is just plain bad, as the Suns broke their team, while the Sixers simply rebuild it into something better.
