Soon as grms and the hams basics of same community once they realize it better off we are in the government can't take our frequency bands away think about it people and don't get stupid
@@HAMRADIODUDE grms is a gateway to the ham radio and they will get license a lot of hams have grms licenses you got to make peace both of us have to pay for it
Sure. In my eyes, someone looking just to have and use a movie prop is going to feel inconvenienced by having to buy a programming cable, downloading chirp and learning how to do that all, when there is a solution on the table that works out of the box. But that definitely is an option, especially if they already purchased the radio. John, Do you have a video on this? Thanks!
Outsource it to Mexicans to make the radios. Americans' salaries are too cost prohibitive to allow for cheap goods to be made and sold. At least it'll be "South" American-Made. 😉

I got both the UV-5R and UV-5G . look the same but one says UV-5X but take off antenna. .it is a SMA female on the HT. had to get Nagoya NA 771G with SMA F which they make both. and with CHRIP I can program GMRS and MURS and even HAM 2M and 70 CM from CHRIP into a UV-5G . LOL not locked with CHRIP . my older UV-5R came un locked the newer one came 2M /70 CM HAM only. but still can un lock it. if you want to get in trouble you still can LOL .but you can turn off duplex in CHRIP and it will RX only. and that ok. have many UV-5R types. the HP 8 watt one. the tri-band one. all look about the same . only the UV-5G has different antenna. also the UV 5R has a special tool for when the SMA comes loose from taking off antenna. pull the volume knob off. it lifts up. now put that on the SMA and tighten the nut. Ham radio DX Hayden showed that trick. 73's
Nasty radio's, IF's /EMF internals are the ghosts ! Do not carrying these near any maritime equipment or critical services. These radios are banned in some country's for that reason.
I have to laugh at those who get so upset about a radio that could be used to break to fcc rules, while every car sold will break the law by going over the speed limit!!!!
This doesn’t merely break theoretical FCC rules. It violates laws intended to prevent interference with legitimate and necessary radio communications. Every kid knows it’s illegal to speed and WHY it’s illegal. Most people are clueless about radio laws, just like the scofflaw who posted earlier.

Very glad to see you posting again my friend.
If you want to lock it down further as a prop you can disable the TX for UHF & VHF using chirp!

What we need is American made radios at chinese prices
You're right, how will that be achieved?

Hallictafters and Collin’s made an awesome 20lb handheld 😂.

This is an SDR, it doesn't have an IF.

Question, Did I sound uspet, or am I offering a solution for people who may be concerned?
