I only just noticed Cypress doesn't have one of his wings, I was wondering why he was only getting around by walking or hopping until I noticed. He's so protective of the babies
I just read the description and it's explained there. Summary: His mom bit his wing half off, they adopted him and saved him. They eventually decided to amputate it so he'd have best quality of life. His name is Cypress and he's a cutie!
@@kateorman Sadly that isn't it, when Cypress was a baby bird his mother actually bit a large chunk of Cypress's wing right off! It was like a big hole on the outside rim of the wing. Cypress grew normally but the wing with part of it missing was not good for Cypress. That's why the owners decided to get it amputated. That's all!

He freaked out on them all thinking they were there to take the babies. He’s a big guy and he meant business. Only problem was that we didn’t actually have any babies. It took a few minutes to get him calmed enough to be treated.
You have to admire such a smol birb willing to fend off a giant creature 100x his size to defend the babies. They don't understand how much adorable they are when they act tough.
I can’t help but mull and wonder to myself if his protective instinct towards the babies has some connection with his own early trauma. He is clearly defending them with all his little might. He is clearly a very loving bird with great inner strength. What a beautiful soul he is!

@@temesgen4321 I know people can be bad towards animals, but what this little blue bird, if you read in the description I was talking about his mother, bit his wing off when he was a baby, so I wasn't in this incident speaking about animal's being harmed by human animals, but in this case the little blue bird got injured by his own mother. No matter the species, this happens moms her throne kids happens with humans all the time, unfortunately.
So many species of birds have shown intelligence in a demonstrable way, so having self-awareness and empathy on top of that isn't too hard to accept for me.
@@OriginalUnjustifier they have jealousy and empathy is the natural next evolutionary step after that, both being very useful for creatures who live in groups. It's really just logical to assume they have empathy at this point.

My fiancé and I lost our Eclectus Sally a year ago yesterday. I have tried to avoid looking at Eclectus’s because I miss her so much. We have both agreed that our next bird will be another Female Eclectus. (We currently have a male bare eyed cockatoo, Casper, and a male caique, Sunshine.) We finalized her adoption 3 years ago on Christmas Day.

I think male birds are very protective. I had a male cockatiel who would protect me when I fell asleep in the recliner. I woke up to find him sitting on my toe scanning the room. He did not like to be disturbed while he was on guard duty.
Ellie has very much grown to be this way however I believe it has to do with my phone more so than me. At least that's how I perceive it in my situation.

Nothing to do with it at all........many species of parrot will fight to the death to protect their nest and eggs,it's just natural behaviour.
