Several years ago, we had adopted a pair of puppies, a brother and sister. Someone deliberately poised them. Unfortunately, when we found that the first one had died we assumed maybe it was a medical event or something health related. We lost a couple puppies to antifreeze when I was a child, it's not pleasant memory for sure. I don't get using poison, like Doc highlighted, they crawl off and something else dies after eating them, or they crawl back to their nest and die, and smell bad for a month, then funky stink everytime the hummidity comes up for years. An out and out infestation, or some other extreme maybe, but normal circumstance, there are multiple catch traps available now. Some of the electric ones will hold 50, and are cheaper long term.
@@kelleywyskiel8513 Thank you,it absolutely was. I didn’t share some of the worst details which was that my oldest son who was just 10 years old, & was to start his first day of school at the beginning of the school year, at a new school. So he was the new kid. That morning he walked out to feed the dogs and found Fred, curled up dead and Brenda laying on top of him. He’s courageously went to his first day of school and somehow managed to move through that moment. We lived out in the redwoods, isolated and far away from anyone who could hear screams for help. A month later, my two boys and I were preparing food for Thanksgiving which would be the following day and we heard Brenda thrashing around and screaming. We lived in mountain lion territory (just a few days prior, one crossed right in front of me in the road, not 50 feet from our own driveway) so I wasn’t exactly sure what to do in that moment. My heart compelled me to want to run out to her immediately but I was afraid for my own life and my children safety as well. We also knew there was someone messing with us. There were lots of problems on this property. We had set up a bunch of security cameras and trail cams and someone took them all down carefully enough to not be caught on camera. We later found out it was our landlord. The person we had given a significant, lump sum of money in advance to pay for one years worth of rent in a lease option to buy home, who was trying to drive us out of there. Later, we learned that was his game. He would find people who would rent or enter into a lease option to buy with him and then he would destroy plumbing and water supply would be cut and things of that nature. I anyway, we are grateful to be in a safe place now and I appreciate you for reading my comment and for just observing it.🙏
I once used Decon in the house due to mice. I stuck the bait in places physically impossible for my 80 lb dog to reach. What I didn't anticipate was that the mice themselves can move the bait. I came home from work and found a piece of bait laying in the open and my heart froze... thankfully my dog didn't want to eat it. The decon specifically actually is made to be appealing to rodents, so why wouldn't it be appealing to pets? Be very careful with this stuff.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR THE PETS... you encouraged me to continue finding natural cures for my pets and i have found several books to help me study. God Bless!!
I had a cat when I was in high school that had gotten into rat poison or was either given it by someone which my parents and I think it was that mean old man across the street did. He hated cats for some reason that never makes sense. Perkins died at the Vets. My Dad tried getting him to eat and drink some water. When I got home from school and Momma got home from work we all rushed him to the Vet where he was kept over night but didn't make it. The Dr said he had strychnine in his blood. Broke my heart. I cried for months. At that time my parents let the cats roam they were indoor outdoor cats. Perkins was fixed and didn't go far. My parents had their pets spayed and neutered.
Another excellent video, thank you so much. Btw you're still brilliant!!!! We have a plethora of hints and tips and a cupboard full of natural remedies thanks to you. Keep em coming!!!

It just breaks my heart that any of this is even legal to buy sell and use. There are tons of humane ways to deal with unwanted nuisances. It’s lazy cruelty
What are some of the "tons". I don't care to use poisons, including for insect control. My daughter used a roach control that was used inside of cupboards. Her Maine Coon got very ill with his liver and the vet wanted to put him down. She refused and took him home. I don't know her steps to treat him. She happened to see a roach crawl out and her Maine Coon pounced and ate it. End of roach poison. Whatever she did for her cat, he survived and is back to good health. So any ideas would be helpful to everyone. My girls and I research everything, but someone may just know the right thing.
My neighbor killed his dog by giving him rat poison. I asked what’s wrong with your dog, and he said he didn’t want the dog anymore so I put him out of his misery. I said why didn’t you tell me before, and he answered…it’s my dog and I do whatever. Some people don’t deserve a pet. He’s my neighbor and I don’t want any problems with him and that’s why I didn’t called the cops. Moving soon anyway.

What do you think of RatX and MouseX? It states it is all natural and only affects rodents. It prevents the rodent from feeling thirst and thus they get lethargic. They go back to den to go to sleep, go into coma and never wake up. I have never used it. Trying to find something safe for my aunt to use on her farm. Thanks!

Hi Dr. Jones, my dog ate Cholecalcifer rat poison. I didn't find out he do so until maybe 2 or 3 days later. He is now in acute renal failure. He was admitted to the hospital for discospondylitis and his CREA levels were very high. He was given IV antibiotics and has been home for a week or more. I'm now noticing blood in his urine. I plan on taking him back to the hospital this weekend for further treatment. Also, I'm giving him subcutaneous fluids at home. A liter a day. The time line when this all started is been about 3-4 weeks now. I'm really concerned for my dog. He is 4 years old and won't eat now and won't eat his oral meds. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.
Veterinary secrets- can you suggest an eye drop I can buy without prescription that's Similar to neo poly DeX please. Costs hundreds just to see the vet eye specialist to get this & I'm not working. Thank u
I was concerned about using peanut butter and baking soda to kill rats. I am concerned about my mom's cats getting into it or killing a rat that has eaten it, they seem to just kill them but sometimes I do find them eating or torn to pieces so I am curious if baking soda could harm a cat after they eat a rat that's consumed baking soda and peanut butter if someone could help to tell me for signs I should look for in the cat if one has been consumed.thank you
This scare me so much. Sofie doggo is very curious and she was trying to catch a 🐁 in my bedroom. So i put like cages traps protected with wood to keep Sofie nose away from the traps.

@@amberbaker6909 They have been changing that recently - people can raise hens but no roosters because of the noise. Many new people from other countries may depend on this for food in some areas.
Whenever I use rat poison I make a hole on the side stick peanut butter in it and the poison sticks to it , then I tie the bottle with wire on both sides an put the in places there is no way the cats or the dogs can get to it. Been doing this for a long time and never had a poisoned cat or dog. Maybe I will make a video as to how I do it !

Yeh, poisons just don't have a place, maybe a few extremes in ag, but largely nope, thanks Doc. When I was a kid, growing up out in the country, we'd hide up in the hay in of my buudy's grampa's cow barn and "snipe" the rats as they would come out with our pellet rifles. Every now and again a rat would come out, wobbley, bloated, and staggering. The poor things would litterally decompress, some would not really explode, but rupture and the insides would get pushed out by the pressure. Those we were deffinitely doing a favor. They were one's that evidently got into the rat poison. I won't use poison because of that. I have became pretty "live and let live" as I get older, but there is still the duty to protect, and I'd club a panda with a baby seal to feed or protect my family. But if I have any other way, sealing off, diverting, storing feed responsibly, etc to avoid killing, that's first. If not, I live trap, and then sort out and dispatch humanely. IMHO Live trap, let squirrels, chipmunks, and cats go. Glue traps for mice, are a downright sick, demented, unnessicarily evil device. I used once, and will never use again.
My lab ate a small chunk of rat poison that was maybe 2 cm long on Monday morning at maybe 4 a.m. Couldn't get to a vet and closest 24/7 vet is 1 1/2 hours away and I don't drive. Anyway the dog is lethargic at times but happy and energetic at other times. Drinking and eating habits are pretty normal too. It's now Wednesday and I am waiting for activated charcoal to come in the mail. The tongue is a bit pale and poop is kinda green but like i said, the dog is ok otherwise so I don't know if it's just not enough to be dangerous and just make the dog sick or what. I've asked on many videos and nobody's answered me yet 😫
My dog is back to normal. After making him drink twice as much as usual and potty more often, well that provided with small doses of activated charcoal spread over a week... for my dog at least it did the trick. Mind you that the poison was 3 years old and kept in a cool shed so it likely was weakened so if your poison is newer and kept warm inside I'd worry more.
@@samishinee-girl3942 thank you for answering. I'm so over joyed your dog is alive and well. I have.... Hmmm🥺😥 ummm my I could only give kindness and smiling faces, car Rides and hug's and kisses when my two little partners in crime chewed up another pair of shoes or when they take make spot in the bed just as I'm using the restroom in the middle of the night. I just got to say people pay attention to what you are doing we all have this one short life and for others even a shorter one. But to poison and take short a innocent life just trying to live and survive on the same planet just because you don't like the looks of that creature has got to be evil ignorance on the highest level. so I wasn’t exactly sure what to do in that moment.

How do you know it was poison did you get a necropsy and did they show any symptoms
Thank you so much Dr. Jones! You're such a blessing! 🙌
Tula making sure everyone saw her, "Big Stretch" behind you!♥️😂
Another excellent video, thank you so much. Btw you're still brilliant!!!! We have a plethora of hints and tips and a cupboard full of natural remedies thanks to you. Keep em coming!!!
I have neighbors that has chickens so there fore I seem to have Rats, Coach Roaches & influx of Pigeons 2 separate of the days.
We are not zoned for chickens in the city.
The City won't do anything about it. Been there done that.
But I have 5 cats. 2 of them go outside.
What I can tell U what I do for the Rats, it's some work, but fron my Heart it Helps Tremdously!
Last year I had a Dead or Live Rat in my backyard every single morning from about Latw March to Mid-October.
I would have to put down my coffee cup & go dispose of it. Not something I look forward to doing when I wake up at 4am.
I would do these simple things every single night. I do have a Pest control company but it's just not enough.
The minute 2 or 3rd nights would by not doing these I would start to see them show up.
Right when the sun is going down I would:
1. Place Moth Balls on top of the Walls surrounding my Property. It works!
I know they are expensive. I know. But I do not want them on top of my house or worse.
And the Rats I have seen are Pretty BIG.
And I would place the Mothballs about a foot apart on top of the wall.
And then I would randomly throw some at the wall to have the pieces of the Moth balls scatter cover some area down on the ground. Place them all around the edges of yoyr home.
Throw a couple up under any stored vehicle U might have or Bar BQ grill property U do not want them getting into!
2. For the Coachroaches & other creepy critters I never saw till I started hearing chicken sounds every morning. I use Home Defense outdoor spray. It says it works up to 6 months. Trust me it works but U have to use it often, then it works. It's safe on my pets. They don't seem to get sick.
I spray that around the perimetor of my home & spray along down the center blocks around my home.
OMG. No More Roaches or Big Bettles. I don't know where they are going but they are 'not' coming to my house now.
3. Then I would use either 1/2 Water & Peppermint or any Insect "Peppermint" Spray. That I would Spray right on the Edge ALL the Way down the Walls. That is like the Nail in the confin for Keeping them away.
Sounds like a alot to do every day. But works. I would spray before I hard off to work in the morning. And then at night in the evenings.
Once U get a pattern down & learning where in your yard not to go cheap on, U get really, really fast at it.
My 2 cats are fine. But I can't use poisoning & my Pest lady will not do it because she doesn't anything to happen to them. So this is the most organic none toxic way I know how to go.
Last year I cought about 20 Rats in my backyard. This year, only 2. And only bexause my cat chased it down. Good video. Sorry for ao long of a comment.
Thank you Dr. Jones 🌻
Thank you ♥️
So sad it costs sooooo much to take your animals to the vet 😢 if I was a vet I'd be a broke person because I would do it all for Free 👍
Thank you.
Can you do a video on making your own cat food please.
I know someone whose 2 young dogs died after eating a dead squirrel that had been poisoned by rat poison.
Thank you!
He’s a monster.

I am concerned about my mom's cats getting into it or killing a rat that has eaten it, they seem to just kill them but sometimes I do find them eating or torn to pieces so I am curious if baking soda could harm a cat after they eat a rat that's consumed baking soda and peanut butter if someone could help to tell me for signs I should look for in the cat if one has been consumed.thank you
Oh my goodness 🐀 🐀 terrifying!
I love rats and they are just squirrels that live on the ground really. Very smart loving animals so leave them poor creatures alone.
This scare me so much. Sofie doggo is very curious and she was trying to catch a 🐁 in my bedroom. So i put like cages traps protected with wood to keep Sofie nose away from the traps.
This is a much needed video - thanks so much for making these videos. Really appreciated.

@@amberbaker6909 They have been changing that recently - people can raise hens but no roosters because of the noise. Many new people from other countries may depend on this for food in some areas.
After the hydrogen peroxide makes them throw up would a bunch of charcoal be good?
Whenever I use rat poison I make a hole on the side stick peanut butter in it and the poison sticks to it , then I tie the bottle with wire on both sides an put the in places there is no way the cats or the dogs can get to it. Been doing this for a long time and never had a poisoned cat or dog. Maybe I will make a video as to how I do it !

Another RUclipsr I follow warns over and over not to give your dog Calcium with D3 and now i know why!! 🤯

Any updates my dog just ate Decon
Same just happened to me... Please tell me what happened to your dog?
I used it years before in my home coz rat made irreversible breeding ground in our home and we had lot of open spaces .
My books n cloths everything on open shelves n it was disgusting t see them practically everywhere .
My parents wernt doing anything n i thot how cud they even live in such conditions , isnt it toxic as our kitchen stuff was also quite open , milk n all ..
I killed n thot if i wil put in the sewer , it mite poision the water where its going n affect people .
There were open big garbage bins ( india ! ) , i threw them over it thinking municipality will clear them asap .
My 2 little doggies ( awww , they were street dogs / teen pups , i dnt remeber i cud play with them enough , t same day , i found them first eating ( i thot i dnt kno wat they r eating - n then found them dead besides each other with blue marks on neck n stomach .
I wanted t cry , cry like hell ! But my parents were already fightin wid me fr killing rats in t house .
My sadness sink deeper , jus there … ❤
But i love them wherever they are .
This expensiv treatmnt i cudnt think of , either i just started earning or was studying .Moreover , we dnt hav good vets or atleast i didnt kno .
All in all , they leave t imprint n i seldom see that scene recall . I loved them . They had such n excellent persona . ❤❤

I once watched a rat dying from poison our neighbors had put out. The poor thing was desperately trying to get to our stream for water.
I will never forget the terrified look in its eyes. We won't use poison. At least being whacked in the head is over faster. Poison was slow and obviously agonizing. 💔
I'm sorry to hear that
I say no to poisons altogether and this imcludes RoundUp. Gteat video.
