We are travelers Rachel and Nick.
We quit our jobs in September 2018 to become full time travel RUclipsrs. We go around the world looking for unique and cheap things to do.
Another great video guys thanks for exploring and sharing with us. It's great to watch and see you both enjoying yourselves and seemly to be so relaxed. PS. If you don't mind me saying, How you filmed this video was spot on!! Really enjoyed it 🙂
Thanks so much mate! We love exploring urban areas around new cities 😊😊
2:48, that's the entrance to the Old Town called Viru gate which is a part of the protective walls surrounding the Old Town.
5:34 is the Town Hall with Old Thomas on top of the tower
16:01 is the Walls of Tallinn
"Estonia - the REAL Disneyland" about those train carts 😂 haha
Old town is the most expensive place for anything - drinks, coffee, food etc. Its mainly only for tourist, you have to know where to go for coffee - there are many kiosks, shops that sell coffee for like 1,50 eur - 2 eur..comparing to other Scandinavian countries, coffee is okay priced here. Also Kompressor has the cheapest mulled wine - I think it was 2,80 eur and it was pretty strong too!
We tried the food at Kompressor and it was so yum and big! 😊
Have you ever been to Estonia? We were quite surprised on our visit.
no I haven't, but it is fascinating to be guided by you both through the Old Town with your video, thanks guys. Estonia in “Northern Europe” sure does seem Medieval, which I'm sure would be an amazing and interesting experience for you both. And selecting your pickled gherkins must have been an adventure too haha. Have a great time, it's fun watching your videos!!Seeing the history, food and meeting some of the local people is really nice too 😊
Not yet. The closest place to Estonia I was is Vilnius Lithuania
Oh cool. We went to Vilnius recently and we filmed some videos there which will be out soon. 😊
Getting those gherkins was impossible haha
Estonia is Northern Europe - when foreigners somehow link or connect us some way or another to Russia or "eastern" we get angry inside.
We've been under Nordic power our whole pre history and connected via viking stuff and sh*t. You should check out The Oeselians.
Just saying ;D for future knowledge
Thank you guys for so informative and interesting video!
I live abroad and miss a lot my home town Tallinn ❤️
Lots of luck to you 👍
Thanks so much!! 💕
Hey nice video! But This medevialness is not just theme. It is world most preserved medevial town and it is on UNESCO world Heritage. So it is forbidden to build this section a modern buildings and even if building need renovation it has to be made on orginal style. In theme this section has some medevial restorants and even farmacy, what is well preserved and also is world oldest farmacy.
We went to the oldest Pharmacy and loved it! Actually it will be in our next video 😊
There are great places for coffee in Estonia too... Such a shame you didn't get to experience that. Your pronounciation in the beginning was great! 😊
Yeah it qas our first day so didn't find any good cafe that time but we eventually realized there are many cool and cheap cafes in Tallinn. 😄 Thank you!! That's great haha.
Greetings from Estonia 🇪🇪
Thank you for the kind words ❤
You used to get a large beer for 2 euros or so :) before taxes on alcohol were raised here.
Yeah it's about 2 euros for a small can in Australia so Estonian beer seem cheap for us haha.
Very cool. Hope you had a lovely holiday! Estonia looks really cool, and so quiet too. Great for exploring. Take care guys!
Almost didn't notice you guys. Love the new channel name. I like the previous one too. Thank you guys👍😄
No problem, we've been so busy, now we get to catch up on everything : ) Happy 2019.
Also they sometimes have reindeer in pens on the town square, during Christmas season. 💙🖤🤍
Fun Fact that Mcdonalds in Tallinn old town was the first McDonalds in Estonia :)
Oh wow. I didn't see many Mcdonalds. Heaps of Hesburgers though 😊
First McDonalds was in Mustamäe and Lasnamäe in 1995.
Estonia is in Northern Europe, not Eastern Europe.
Thanks for letting us know. We loved it there so much!! 😊
In the north of europe is russia, If poland is eastern, so estonia of course eastern too
@@user-ex6cw2zs4k Часть России которая находится в европе и северная и восточная. А Эстония как раз таки северная.
@@user-ex6cw2zs4k We're more Northern than Denmark and a big part of Sweden. We're also less East than Finland. So yes, we're definitely in Northern Europe. North Eastern if you like, just like Finland.

@Rachel and Nick Stop it, you are making me miss home. Lovely video!!!😄
I visit Tallin every year during the summer. Fully recommended!!!
We would love to come back in the summer!
Great Channel Guys.. You Have another Followerer from the Usa Here.. Keep up the great work
Thanks heaps!! 😊😊
Estonia is the most promising country of the former Soviet Republics.but the most expensive.one year ago, coffee cost from 1.7 euros in the old town and oddly enough in Estonia and Finland is very tasty pizza
Ooh didnt know they had such good pizza 🍕 good tip 😊
@@rachelandnick в Старом городе есть ресторан Pizza Granda . правда найти сложно
Wow! You stayed in the same building I was in back in November! Odra 10! Literally across from the bus station! So cool! You're making me nostalgic! I was there a week and would just walk up to the Old Town (only a 20-25 minute walk). I regret not trying that funky restaurant next door that's open 24 hrs. Definitely has local color. Enjoy.
Omg lol That's literally our regrets now haha. Heard so much good things about the restaurant.
@@rachelandnick - One place I stumbled on that was a real hoot was this Georgian restaurant called Caravan that was evidently a big night spot on weekends for middle-aged Russian locals. Good food and belly dancing and a rather raucous crowd but lots of fun.
Baltic states - Estonia 🇪🇪, Latvia 🇱🇻 and Lithuania 🇱🇹 are countries of Northern Europe , not Eastern. They are designated as such by UN.
Cheers for the info. 😊
Adrian, thanks for information. I live in Estonia, and I gotta check my bank account. Maybe I got richer, like Swedes or Norwegians.
@@dmitrispiridonov3039 Country's geographical location is not based on your bank account.
@@adriang.4086 For sure. But according CIA Factbook Baltic states are Eastern Europe. Actually I wanna say it all meaningless. Nobody wants to be EE. Russians say they not Europe at all, no more. And what we have for EE? Just Ukraine?
@@dmitrispiridonov3039 UN Statistics Division , EuroVoc ( EU ) , National Geographic Society and absolute majority of other relevant sources consider Baltics to be part of Northern Europe. Which is where these countries really are. Even your mentioned CIA while placing Baltics in Eastern Europe notes their strong association with Northern Europe.
Any association of Baltics with Eastern Europe comes from recent history when Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were occupied by Soviet Union therefore becoming part of Eastern Bloc.
the coffe thing like we take it too seriously like adults always end the dinner with one coffe and then they can go (well my parents and their friends)
Haha that's cool though. I like the whole coffee after dinner thing. Australians don't do that.
Hello! I’m actually from Estonia so this is very fun to watch😆
Woohoo welcome to the drunken bear.😊
Oh, No!
I enjoy watching other people travel into Estonia and comment about the cities. Makes me more proud to live there.
// I wish i could one day meet you //
Tallinn is a very tourist friendly place, many have english translated menus and ect for all the tourists, and its very common for people to be required to be able to speak english for a job.
We love Tallinn so much. Cant wait to visit again. 😊😊
the old town is from 13th century they didn’t renovate it (we weren’t independent) we were so little so we got to keep the buildings
I’m from Tallinn, l just love my country! Thank you so much
Hi! Great Vid thanks! but as it been mentoned YES Estonia is not eastern eourope by culture or by language but yes we are between North and East by locations
Tallinn is so so beautiful!
Yeah we really enjoyed it. 😊
No, You are.
lol
Holy shit I saw you but I never gave it a second thought!!!
Somebody yelled at us, vloggers at one point during that day. Was that you? 😂 haha
Rachel and Nick lmao I wish but no I didn’t realise it was you until after. Excellent pronunciation of Estonian words by the way!
love that your a "tight arsed tourist" im the same, I arrive there 1st sept and a bit worried on the prices.looks like a lot of walking around to find a bargain,
It looks like the trains that I usually see in a zoo or a mall 😂
That's what I thought too haha.
You definitely have to try out cafe Rukis in Old Town almost right next to the Viru gates next time you come back. This is my absolute favorite place for a coffee and a slice of cake. The atmosphere is amazing in there! Prices can be a bit on the higher side but it's definitely worth the money for a little special night out :)
I enjoyed watching this blog. I am saddened to learn that coffee is so expensive there. :(
It was but we found a cheaper cafe so it wasn't so bad. Much cheaper 😊
ealing26 usual price for coffee is 2,5 -3 eur. Best coffee is from gas station called circle k lol. Large coffee is under 3 euros and it is large. And good!
Lovely old town ...should have your hoodies on in that cold wind....
yeah we should've. We've noticed that every Estonian wears hoodies haha.
Some Finns screaming in the background. So typical lol!
It's so typical, when someone pays visit to Estonia and don't notice Estonian do be sound -- we really are quiet folk, aren't we?
Perhaps some street singers of Estonian songs?
Spent half the day at the market...it’s much like the queen vic market ...
Hope you had pancakes...they are famous for them if you still there the restaurant is called Kompressor...they make them the best
Oh yes!! Kompressor was really good. We filmed it too haha
Thanks! Great video about town I live in! and I agree about expensive coffee.. really, wtf
ive lived ten years away from home country and not visited tallinn resently and it has changed a lot as i can see from your video. i cant even rekognise it:)
where are your hats and scarves, its important to have them in windy day. no wonder you are cold:)
you know the best price for good coffee in estonia is to buy and make your own caffee or buy it from a gas station.
5:34 That's the town hall
Oh, you guys almost fell for the old town magic. It's a tourist trap with prices nearly 70-100% higher than everywhere else. You can get great coffe anywhere in the city centre for less than 4 euros. Same goes for food.
Hi! Yeah we started going out further from the city centre and prices dropped heaps! Found some local cafes with cheap coffee and snacks. 😊
4€ for a coffee is not bad.
Bacon for Allah it really is lol
~Marvellous, and really cool!
if you like shite coffee then it costs you 1-2 euros but if you don't like shite coffee then it costs you 3 euros and 4 cents with your customer discount card
Tere hommikust! :) Description is in Estonia. Even people living here previously from Russia haven't been done that. :O Nice and warm looking people, you are! :)
#yes And I'm a Half-Native from #eesti (Moms side)
tere lapsed kuidas läheb
Tere, me oleme hästi tänud 😊
Halvasti😕
Omg why didn't you grab a coffee at macdonalds I like there coffee..
Estonia capital city was former city Reval and it was German that's the reason why it looks like German cities. All of Estonia is was a part of Germoney!!!!
Im an estonian
Estonians are very proud that the old city has survived invasions from various countries, the last was Russia. The language doesn't seem to resemble anything that I have heard, be it English, Russian, Italian, French, German, Dutch.....it goes on. And trying to read it is kind of what????
It's amazing because so many old towns we visited around Europe had to be reconstructed due to wars. 😢
The estonian language is closely related to finnish and hungarian. I was in Tallinn this summer.
Tere
Tere! 😊
Haha goo to tartu
We really want to! Heard it's a great town where a lot of students live.
@@rachelandnick it sure is, and tartu basically is a student town, and lots of places to see and visit
that was not a castle and we are trying to save the culture

I m estonia
Estonia=/=eastern europe
Do you know where the European center is?
It is in Estonia, Paide.
it means that Estonia is the center of Europe, not Eastern Europe.
it's mathematical ;)
@@yanelleh mathematically it is
First off all, you need to be drunk every evening to live good in Estonia and rest of the time you need to get drugs
It may be beautiful calm and cool. But I was born in Estonia, i am Estonian and i can guarantee it's not all happy sunshine and rainbows, the country itself has deep shits that it drives itself into, just recently a man was arrested for drinking coffee, and a parade keeping out its own saviors who fought in an Estonian war and saved the country. It's a shitty country and I'm ashamed to be born in it.
In all 3 Baltic countries people are lazy. If you need 2 worker you have to hire 3 but of course you must pay them for 2. As they work an average of 5-6h x day no surprise salary in the baltic are still low. Very hard to find motivate, honest and trustfully workers as national sport is cheating, stealing and drinking. As tourist you cannot see the reality.
