- This adventure takes us under the city streets of downtown Atlanta exploring the ruins of the infamous restaurant Dante's Down The Hatch. A eatery of legend where you ate fondu on a pirate ship and fed table scraps to live alligators inside the restaurant!
Ahh the 70's, they definitely don't make 'em like that any more!
Then Jim shows is his recipe for the Don The Beachcomber classic cocktail, the Navy Grog.

OMG! Coincidentally, I am drinking out of a glass from there right now! I can’t believe it is or was still there. I miss that place so much. Lived in Atlanta for 12 years and went there as often as possible. What an amazing place. Maybe my favorite place in Atlanta. Do we know if it’s still there now? I will comb through the comments to see if anybody said anything about it.
Oh man. That was so fun! Love the peek at the galley joint snd your approach to the navy grog!!
amazing series
Great to see you Jim after 20 years. Delightful surprise. Loved the show! From Cal Clements.
Always fond 'u" memories of Dante's :)
Really glad I found this channel. Since the start of lockdown, and turning 21 at about the same time, I’ve been falling down the Tiki rabbit hole with my friends. To find a channel with all this info on bars I’ve never heard of before and tips for home bar tending is fantastic, keep up the good work!
Jim thanks so much for sharing the history 👍👍👍👍 love this bro and the Grog such a classic 👍😎🍹🌴🍍🤙🏽🍍🗿
How the hell has nobody turned that amazing space into a killer tiki lounge? I mean, OMG, it's already got a liquor license, right? Wow...
There are a million reasons...
@@jimstacy2056 Yeah, there usually are.
great content
Love this show keep making content!!!!!!
We are launching a new episode tomorrow.. stay tuned!!
I ate there on my wedding night (Oct 21, 1995). That tasmanian beef stew, omg.
Yessss glad to see you're back, Jim! Great episode 🤙
Cool as heck that you have the bars portion of the show. Patiently awaiting more. Made my first Navy Grog last week, what a treat! Tonight I tried the Bumboat. It was good but a tad bitter for me.
awesome stuff!!
I last ate there in about '04 with my then-wife, her sister and to-be hubby and a mutually-known male friend. Cocktails were had and the wonderful Tasmanian beef stew as well. Strangest part of the evening had nothing to do with the place's amazing atmosphere, but we whited up the joint with a ignorant drunken opinion poll of who among us 5 was the least 'crunk' but I think we meant 'krump.' The person chosen was in fact the least krump but the easily the most crunk.
Terrific show! I'm so glad I found you!!
Just stumbled onto your channel and I’m hooked. Keep up the good work!👍👍👍
Just like fellow atl host Alton Brown says, no sense in buying equipment that only does one job. Love the ice cone hack!
Haha the warning against "unitaskers" has stuck with me more than any other Alton Brown lesson
The last time I ate there was with Kiki and Ria for Ria's birthday! Guess that was around 2010 or 2011? What a great place...
Love the show! Keep up the great work :-)
Be nice to have the recipe in the description
Amazing video and channel!!! Are there any plans to renovate and reopen this tiki bar? Thanks!
Great stuff are you guys planning to do more shows?
Did I see a tear in your eye at the end of the Dante's segment/ I think I did! Good Grog!
Hey Jim, Long time fan of you, your food Truck, Deep fried foods and Palookaville. If you get the chance, come on up to Minneapolis and check out Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge. I'll guarantee a few good videos out of this fantastic place! I'll set it up, and all I ask is for a drink and a few Jim Stacy stories...
Hey - huge fan here! Is there a Tiki good tiki book that one would recommend?!
"The Book of Tiki" by Sven Kirsten is considered the foremost book on the subject. "Tiki Pop", "Smugglers Cove", and "Sippin Safari" are also in the top ten tiki books!
Can we bring this show back? Or did this guy pass away?
Wheres the new content???
it's heeeeeere!!
