I live near Rob Younger. I pass him in the aisle of the local supermarket like any other person in town. He's very down to earth. He is basically like the everyday man in town, nobody approaches him people are caught up in their own suburban things - it's cool to see him in Germany rocking out.
cool story bro. i kinda pegged him for living in darlinghurst or glebe or somewhere like that. damn ugly man but a great frontman and allrould aussie legend.

I have seen so many bands reform and try to cash in and the fire is gone... Radio Birdman is, may I dare say... even more powerful now than then... such energy. So, good.
They’re faster, but rhythmically very tight ! Is that a new drummer? The original drummer was great, so it’s good to see this one is so up to the task. I’ll have to see them play.
Fuck..how come I missed these cats!? I'm 61 and just got turned on to them from a local radio station Asheville FM 103.3... they got a shit ton of rock goin on here...nice
Yeah me too. I'm 50 grew up in Sydney very into skateboarding and surfing and went to the same high school as Rob Younger. I knew of them and I knew Aloha. I don't know how I missed them. I guess lack of radio play and no internet. If you haven't already watch "Descent into the Maelstrom" and catch up on what we missed. I feel like a kid finding my new favourite band, Radio Birdman is all I have listed to for the last month. Will be taking the next opportunity to see them live.
I'm 58 now. When I was 17 in 1982, a PHX AZ USA indie record store had "Radios Appear" Australian pressing for $7. I wore it out. My 1st punk band in 1984 covered " New Race". We were very green and crappy, but kept going for 6 years and got good. In 2011, another band I was in covered "What Gives " and did a good version by then. One of my favorite Rock bands, along with Mötörhead, Black Sabbath, Blüe Öyster Cült, Ramones
A lot of people in the USA missed these cats years ago, even, due to horrible record co. bullshit, lack of promotion, internal band strife, and just them being fucked over by everyone concerned. It appears. Never ever heard them on the radio here in NYC/LI years ago, ever. Not even college radio Shows you what' "taste" some of those asshole college DJs had, despite being so hipper than thou. It's criminal. I didn't catch up with them until I saw some of their vinyl LPs at some shitty LI NY record store in the mid 1990s or so. I later found out who they were, and picked up the SubPop compilation CD in 2000 or so. I missed the reunion shows, sadly. There are two books out on Radio Birdman, one that dates from 1990 or so and is fabulously expensive and out of print, and a new book on the band came out this year from an Australian publisher, which I hear is great. Runs about $50 Aussie dollars. I may buy it. By rights the Birdman should have been bigger than INXS, but we know what a clusterfuck the music biz is. A big roll of the dice and you usually lose.
@@aajsideways8 How about no airplay and no promotion. Sire Records couldn't have fucked it up worse with RB. I've never seen anything like it. Actually, I have. They suffered the same awful fate as Big Star, basically.
This is a decent video of their concert, good quality sound and the band's playing well! Sorry to hear about Pips' son on what was such a deserving night for the band!? Keep On Rockin' guys and always remember, 'Old Guys Rule!'
Just saw these guys again in October at the Manning Bar in Sydney - awesome show - they have lost nothing. Currently in Europe - make sure you see them if you can.
how rNr can anything be? deniz; you say you play wherever someone let yourself, so I just bought an old house in need of renovation and maybe I should buy you the tickets instead of investing the money in a demolition crew. It's clear that you can easily rock the house into rubble with just one track and build a new one at the same time, hahaha...
@@mlwsf Was that the all white guitar with 3 pickups or whatever three buckers? I can't recall anymore or if Chris played that one, or Deniz. Anyway, that's kind of an obscure guitar, for sure. The Crestwood first came out in 1958, apparently. The guitar with the Epi logo tremolo bridge etc. So damned good!

The drummer plays way too fast.
Burn My Eye lost all its feel, for starters.
peter - drummer was young, hyped to play in front of a crowd, the old guys were feelin the energy. A lot of bands are faster live than studio.
It’s the Ramones formula! You play slow and steady in the studio, but you crank it up live…
