Definitely make the trip Seoul is amazing and I’m planning my next trip in the next year or so, just don’t go in the summer it’s toooo hot. You’ll enjoy for sure. If you can fly on a Korean airline like Korean Air or Asiana do it, Asian airlines in general are known to be really good. Make it happen!
I'm jealous! I want to go back. I was stationed at Osan AB for a year and loved it, aside from being separated from my family. I expect a pictorial when you get back.
My top tips as a budget traveller
1. Browse on incognito mode and use a site that searches multiple airlines like Skyscanner
2. Book for the off season (in Korea that's summer and winter) and buy your ticket 2-3 months in advance
3. Check the price for a flight from a major hub like NY or LA and then book your city to the hub separately. Sometimes that's a lot cheaper
4. Don't be afraid of hostels. They're like staying in a quality inn or something similar
5. Be willing to spend a little extra for comfort in seating or layovers. Asia is like 24 hours of flying and it's EXHAUSTING

I flew Korean air just last year and it was great!
I’m saving up to go to Korea already even though I’m way to young-
When I studied abroad in Seoul I ended up taking Asiana out of Seattle and i thought it was pretty nice although it was like 10 years ago lol. I went there for a summer program and I do suggest not going during the summer 😂 it's so hot and humid like you walk outside and you are drenched 😭lol I wasn't able to go out as much as i wanted to and wished i could have gone in the spring or fall. But on the other hand there are interesting/fun things to do during the summer so if you're more heat tolerant than i am and you go durning the summer just be prepared and stay hydrated lol.
I probably can’t go for like another 6 years 😭😭😭

In the soop locations, their former dorms and Hybe museum are a must to see.
Of course there are many Armys who take pictures in front of their houses too 😅

I'm flying Korean Air in November. They have better reviews than Delta across pretty much everything I read. Sometimes they code share with Delta and a lot of people in travel forums say to go Korean Air all the way and be careful to stay away from legs operated by Delta. The more you research Korean Air the less you want to look at the other airlines. (You can ask for Shin Ramen cup noodles too at any point the in flight too...they are free.)

You can go to Jeju they have great black pork for you Busan is also amazing you can visit Jimin’s dad’s cafe 😉 Also fyi for flights within Korea and from Korea back to USA you don’t have to remove your shoes to go through security 😅😅😅 PS 2300-2500$ for a round trip is not that bad Check also Qatar airways Edit: I have flown Korean Air I’m a member Nothing to worry 😂
