I apologize for my previous reply, I have two oil filter tutorials on my channel and I thought I was looking at the sports car one, not the Corolla. You're correct, 4.4 quarts is the correct amount, however I have been running 5 quarts in my car for the better part of a hundred thousand miles now and have not had an issue, so do whatever you are comfortable with I say
Thx Kevin, I checked the manual, looked at Toyota resources online and even emailed Amsoil and they all told me 4.4 qts for the Corolla. Glad we sorted that out.
Is the oil capacity 5.0 qts exactly with a filter change or is it 4.4 qts so using the whole Mobil 1 container is now overfilling the crankcase?

- Mike Never trust cites or owner’s manuals, always go by the dipstick, it actually takes 4.7 US qts. I usually 5 qts, It dosent hurt anything tho
I don’t understand why people use a 12 point box end on a 6 point nut
How can I check whether my 2016 corolla 1.8L is using cartridge or spin on filter without sneaking under the vehicle.
Owner manual, or forums.
Hey Danial, normally spin filters have metal housing while cartilage filters have plastic housing. Also refer to owner manual.
very nice
Thank you!
You put to much oil the container holds 5 qt. The car takes 4.4 qt.🤐
It's fine. It did a quarter million miles like this. I promise an extra half quart won't kill your car.
