This cocktail looks amazing 👌 Always happy when you make another drink with Mr Black and it makes me even happier that in this one I can even use my Banana Liqueur! Great video 👏
(Since I am Australian). Thanks for another delicious sounding drink. And thanks for the video. Since I am nursing a fresh squeezed broken leg new content is a life line.
FINALLY you two talked about the Opal machine! lmao Marius is always trying to get it into a conversation and it never happened until now. Incredible lol
It's funny that while sipping on a riff of a White Russian, you explain your marker of a masterfully created cocktail as something that creates a new flavor of its own while still being able to pick out each distinct flavor, because I was just saying this same thing about Erick Castro's riff on the White Russian, the Naughty Dog. I have been to Polite Provisions a few times but never got the Naughty Dog while there. But when I saw it featured on one of Greg's White Russian videos on How To Drink, I had to try it out. Now I've gotta try this one with the coconut creme and banana liqueur. Cheers.
Looks really good. I think cutting the spiced rum with a bit of the plantation pineapple rum or swapping the banane du bresil with giffard vanille de Madagascar could make for interesting variations. Or maybe even swapping the Angostura for chocolate bitters and the banana liqueur for cointreau to get that lovely coffee, orange, chocolate combo. I might have to try that out ^^
Sorry this response is so late: but this is coconut cream...unsweetened. Coco lopez is a coconut syrup already. Coconut cream is more liquid-based and unsweetened.
I tried this with many different dark rums, but to my surprise, that specific spiced rum (and ONLY that one...as it's the only spiced rum worthy of being in my bar) made my favorite variation. If you'd like to use something else, I'd still go for something with a sweet richness: so maybe Diplomatico Exclusiva Reserva.
@@dayknowsalchemy Didn't you just use Sailor Jerry's in a different video? Maybe it was your top 5 rum cocktails video (all of which looked delicious, I might add)
Ive said it before Ill say it again "I HATE CINNAMON WITH A PASSION THAT ECLIPSES A RED GIANT SUN" so other that and omitting that spiced rum and maybe using a regular dark rum it looks like a nice drink.
I...LOVE Tempus Fugit's banane...but it gets lost so easily in drinks, sadly. I'm sure the drink would be great with it...but the banana wouldn't be as prevalent. Better idea?...pour that shit over a scoop of coffee ice cream. Like a boozy affogato.
Kingman Brewski it’s just a different flavor: more over-ripe banana like you’d taste if you were eating banana bread. Fuckin’ delicious; but once you add stronger flavors, it stays at the bottom and doesn’t cut through. The Giffard banana is much more of a young, ripe banana freshly peeled. It’s brighter in flavor and cuts through cocktails (especially ones with citrus and bold booze) better.
(PS: the drink obviously has SOMETHING to do with St. Lucia cause the rum is FROM St. Lucia...and I called it that at work since - as you proved - it may be an obscure reference... :D)
How do I subscribe to the New Channel "The Barfly that was moderately educated that then got educated, more educated later in the video when Chris texted Barfly"?
I feel like Being called the Enducated Barfly makes more sense for this video because you became educated while the video was rolling. Otherwise you could call this video The Moderately Educated Barfly
I love how you try to pronounce right and then still mess it up. 2:12 your brain even put effort in it "it is brazil, so I should pronounce it Portuguese!" Giffard (Giffar pronounced ^^) is french though as is the name of the liquor -> "banan dü braezil" great video though
Perfect drink to act like your just having an iced latte
FORGET IT DONNY, YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR ELEMENT!
A drink looking like a regular ice coffee... but surely sounds yummy for breakfast 😁
Oh heck yeah, I'm a sucker for any Big Lebowski drink! That looks amazing
And Marius' silent judgement was good this episode.
While I'm not a fan of coffee cocktails, I would drink the fuck out of that
I just finished up my own batch of homemade cold brew coffee liqueur, can’t wait to try it out with this cocktail!
As a pessimist, I personally prefer 'Donny's Lament' as a cocktail. Maybe you could create a spin off cocktail and name it such.
It would be served in an urn.
This cocktail looks amazing 👌 Always happy when you make another drink with Mr Black and it makes me even happier that in this one I can even use my Banana Liqueur! Great video 👏

Its a good thing your in Donny's Element and not lamenting his existence. Great cocktail! Its the early morning cocktail that you want.
I’m up in Humboldt County, Leandro. Waaaaay north of “The Bay”

Very nice drinks, great presentations, thank you
I know I am repeating myself but again this drink looks perfect. The ending frame made my day! 😁

All fantastic ideas !
Would be cool if you could make videos on how you make your own bitters!
It will be so weird if Marius doesn't plug the Opal Machine one day. Love this cocktail! Need to get my hands on a Banana Liqueur!!
I actually got a giant nose hit of Banana and Coffee when you sipped that... weird! I call that fully educated!! ( Thanks Chris!)
Took me forever long to find a banana liqueur. Totally worth it.
What if you throw some spices (perhaps whole) in the shaker instead of using spiced rum? Just to get halfway there
When I saw the title I thought The Big Lebowski lol.
Don't mind me just here for the algorithm. The dude imbibes
Looks and sounds great. I don't keep spiced rum around so I might try it with Pusser's 🤔
Very nice. That's going to be a mist try for me so I have to get on top of making coconut cream so I can get this made.
I love morning cocktails they are such an untapped resource
Is this coconut cream (like from a can) or "cream of coconut" (Coco Lopez style)?
Sorry this response is so late: but this is coconut cream...unsweetened. Coco lopez is a coconut syrup already. Coconut cream is more liquid-based and unsweetened.
Wow
Heck yeah! This looks fantastic 👌
Reminds me a bit of the Mr. Bodi Hai, plus spice minus fruit
Im going to use Krakken spiced rum. St lucia not available in mexico Salud🍻
If I didn't want to use spiced rum, what would you recommend as an alternative?

Kingman Brewski mmmnope. I don’t even really do any videos (unless it’s with Leandro)...soooo methinks you’re thinking of someone else?
@@dayknowsalchemy thanks Christopher
@@dayknowsalchemy sorry, for some reason I thought that account came from the educated barfly channel lol
The Educated-guessing Barfly
Yes!
any ideas for a cocktail that features matcha green tea and black tapioca pearls(boba)
Any word on Chris Day putting together a cocktail book?
Aw man, you sound like my mom pressuring me...if she cared about my cocktail career. (I'll think about it).
Does it have to be Mr.Blacks? If I had to use Kahlua would you go 3:1 on the coconut cream to counter for the extra sweetness of the Kahlua?
Kahlua is less coffee and more sugar. If you can find Borghetti coffee liquor, use that. And do just 1 oz of the coconut cream.
I would so order that....for breakfast or dessert or anytime! LOL!
I can get behind any cocktail that uses Mr. black!
I actually have all the ingredients for this. I'll probably make one tonight!
Ive said it before Ill say it again "I HATE CINNAMON WITH A PASSION THAT ECLIPSES A RED GIANT SUN" so other that and omitting that spiced rum and maybe using a regular dark rum it looks like a nice drink.
Looks great!
Man I do hope that Mr Black becomes available in Canada soon, cause Kahlua makes me sick and it can get expensive to make your own.
Go get that straw. I’ll wait 🙂🤣🤣🤣
Wooo! This is on the menu tonight Dude!
Nice
Dang, this sounds delicious!
Admittedly, subs change the drink... But how would you feel about swapping in Tempus Fugit creme de banane instead of the giffard?
I...LOVE Tempus Fugit's banane...but it gets lost so easily in drinks, sadly. I'm sure the drink would be great with it...but the banana wouldn't be as prevalent. Better idea?...pour that shit over a scoop of coffee ice cream. Like a boozy affogato.
@@dayknowsalchemy so you're saying the banana flavor isn't as strong as in other banana liqueurs? I have nothing to compare it to

Leandro - have you heard about Giffard's Egg White syrup? Would that be a good sub for like whiskey sours you think?
I haven’t heard of it, buuut I’d assume it doesn’t have the same foaming properties as fresh eggs so I’d say I don’t think so but I gotta look into it
@@TheEducatedBarfly let me know if you do - hard to find Giffard in NJ
I feel like it’s not ok to sub the rum!
Looks great, going to have to watch The Big Lebowski again, terrible shame!
Was this recorded live?
it was not done live but we try to show the whole process and minimal editing :)
I need to get some Mr. Black at my bar.
...so...have you?
@@dayknowsalchemy That's a great question. I have not actually.
On 00:53 marius just spaced out back there heheheh
Would Kraken rum play well here?
Yeah why not?
No acidity added to balance all that sweetness? Maybe some saline solution?
Woah, think there was an editing problem at around 00:53 guys. Maybe it’s just on my end but thought I’d say something
Cant do anything about it once it has been posted. It happens...
The Educated Barfly well it Def doesn’t take away from a great video. Keep up the good work guys. Love the content 👍🏽
Okaaaaaaay...
Are you really recommending we have two drinks for breakfast?
Yes, Doctors orders.
Are you really upset about it? :D
The YAY Area!
is creme de banane the same thing as banana liqueur?
Yes, it's a Banana liqueur. They are all a little different so pick the one you like the best
Nice :)
Daaaaaaamn yooooooou autocorreeeeeeect! *fist in the air*
(PS: the drink obviously has SOMETHING to do with St. Lucia cause the rum is FROM St. Lucia...and I called it that at work since - as you proved - it may be an obscure reference... :D)
You have no frame of reference here, Donny. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie …....
How do I subscribe to the New Channel "The Barfly that was moderately educated that then got educated, more educated later in the video when Chris texted Barfly"?

You’re a funny bloke.. 🤣
Two thumbs down on this vid too? Steve and his cameraman?
(I just made a similar comment on his 10 minutes ago). 🤫😆
There’s three I guess Greg joined too 😂
I am going to add 2 oz of coffee to amke it work
