What your doing is of great help. Just remember that language "clearness" depends a lot on the listener background. Someone used to Ameri/Canadian English will find a bit complicated to understand you. But, that's your accent and it's no doubt English.
I wonder if you use the pharase "hit it off" in the UK? I think it is so useful when you mention start of a relationship. I believe in soul mate but i think opposite ones love each other. Soul mates are just friends whereas opposite ones are lovers, i think. :)
