    How's the quality of your singing from chest to head voice? Can you do it easily without straining, cracking, breaking or breathiness?
    In this video I demonstrate three vocal exercises to use for fast success!

Let the chest voice come in gradually by degrees as you descend, so that the bottom note is all the way in to chest, but it doesn't slam into chest because you allowed it to come in note by note. This will also solve pulling down too much of the head voice. See if this helps.

      @PowerToSing  5 лет назад

      How old are you Dan? Only do it firm enough and loud enough that it stays connected. And if you do it like I demonstrate with that witch sound, you will not hurt your voice. You may tire it...like a workout tires our bodies, but it should get easier and easier.

  • @shabaduba7959
    @shabaduba7959 2 года назад +1

    NAy nay is difficult for me because when I go higher I make breathy voice, I am flipping to falsetto. So it feels like I have to force my vocal fords at high pitches to connect and then sound becomes not clean. Even though I can lower down my larynx during high notes it still feels like falsetto, what can be reason?

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  2 года назад +2

      It's common for guys to feel like head voice is falsetto because they resonate in the same place...in the head. They both can have a feeling of release too. We also don't speak with head voice....we speak in chest which is also lower in pitch. So Falsetto and head voice are easy to confuse at first. As you go higher with the ney's you must maintain the exaggerated sound, otherwise your voice does exactly as you described.

      Hi Yue: You are hitting the first bridge of your voice where it is beginning a transition into head voice. This is where you begin to feel head and chest voice vibrations together and you should not just keep pulling up the chest voice. Watch these videos and do the exercises. They will help you learn to mix in the bridge.www.powertosing.com/pulled-chest-high-larynx-2/

    • @stevebismarck5878
      @stevebismarck5878 4 года назад +1

      You only have one voice: one set of vocal folds inside one larynx. The two-voice model is merely a pedagogical approach for linking the sound quality that you hear to your ability to phonate in different registers. Many singers, though, benefit from a three-voice model: chest voice - mid voice - head voice. In this way of thinking, the mid voice is the entire middle part of your voice (about an octave in most female singers, about a fifth in most male singers). One advantage of developing a "mid-voice awareness" is that you don't have to separately learn how to thin the top part of your "chest voice" as you prepare to mix. The idea of a "chest voice with less mass" is implicit in developing mid-voice awareness.
      There's no way to diagnose the problem without listening to you sing through your whole vocal compass, but the break you describe is very typical in someone who has never developed a proper mid voice. They instead push their chest voice into the mid-voice register by incrementally raising their laryngeal position and over-blowing to overcome the tension (inaccurate pitch in this particular register is one big indicator that this is happening).
      Developing a mid voice when you have an established habit of pushing your chest voice up instead can be a major remediation project. You have all this muscle memory associated with the doomed technique and when you stop doing that you may find that you have no form of phonation in the tool box to replace it with. It's often best to build mid voice with exercises that work the voice from the top down, rather than from the bottom up.
