The Spanish conquers started the rumor of the city, after learning of the Indian king El Doraro who, according to the legend, was covered in gold (El Dorado in Spanish means the gold or the golden one.). So what you saw as part of the background in this performance was in the beginning the golden gates of the city were there and as the performance went on the gates opened to reveal the mountain and SM's depiction of what they think the city might look like. That is why EXO was all in gold outfits and I think the lights they danced around were to represent objects they had to navigate through in their search for the city. At the end when they make the X with the light sticks its to represent the X in EXO, but its also to represent the X you would find on a treasure map that marks where the treasure would be. In the end X marks the spot and EXO is the treasure. LOL Explorers and Indiana Jones-type treasure hunters are always searching for the lost city of El Dorodo thinking if they ever find it, it will be the key to riches and gold. Legends have it that its a magical city that can only be found by those who it wants to find it and some stories say it could have something to do with aliens or otherworldly beings. That's why this song works so well for EXO because EXO's origin story is that they are aliens from Planet EXO who came to Earth with super powers in order to protect the mythical Tree of Life. El Dorado," etc. There have been several fictional movies made about the search for El Dorado and there even have been TV programs and documentaries, etc. about real life explorers who have searched for the city thinking they can prove it was a real place and, at least in part, the stories could be true. EXO's "EL Dorado" performance is also what has been said, inspired Disney to ask SM and EXO to produce "Lightsaber."
EXO has 9 members (they originally had 12 members). All 9 members are part of this concert. In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. However, since then -- as I think most of you know -- 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members. Kris and Luhan left in 2014 and Tao left in 2015.) However, now, because they no longer have enough Chinese members they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce all their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. Lay stopped being able to work with EXO around 2016 But, just because Lay is not able to work with the rest of the members right now does not mean he isn't part of EXO. As a member of EXO he is still a very important part of everything they do and EXO is still really important to him as well. He is also a host of reality programs and is appearing on numerous variety shows in China, so this all keeps him very busy. Because of his super busy schedule and because of some issues between the Chinese and Korean government, Lay has not been a part of EXO activities for more than 3 years now, other than his cameo appearance in. the Korean version of "Tempo" MV and his brief vocal part in the Mandarin version of "Tempo" MV and song in 2018. His hiatus from EXO is not something he has chosen, but its something that has sort of been forced upon him by the government. So he has recently been working hard to find ways around those restrictions, which explains one reason why he has been releasing so many English songs lately. By producing songs in English for the U.S. market it allows him and SM to do collaboration projects which give him a chance to keep his connection to EXO, without actually breaking any rules, and it allows SM to connect the stories in his MVs to EXO's storyline. Now I am no where near an expert on the topic, and I admit that I only understand a very minor part of what is going on between the Chinese and Korean government, but as I understand it, part of the reason for the ban on Chinese and Korean workers between the two countries is that China is refusing to align itself with the U.S. or South Korea to protect themselves with deployment of the THAAD missile defense system in South Korea. North Korea and China want to get rid of the rocket system that is meant to shoot down a nuclear missile if North Korea were to launch one at South Korea or the U.S. Another reason why China doesn't like the THAAD system is because China and the U.S. don't have the best relationship, so if the U.S. and China become on even worse terms China is afraid the U.S. could also use THAAD against them. China says the THAAD system is just provoking them to actually start a nuclear war, and until they remove it or at least move it back from the South Korean boarder, they will continue their ban on Korean products, workers and the Hallyu wave from working in China and for its native Chinese citizens from working with Korean companies. China feels like the Korean government is taking away its native commodities by allowing Chinese people to work in Korea. The issue is even more complicated than this, but that is one part of it. And now, with the recent conflict with the Chinese government and Hong Kong, more political tension has continued to make it difficult for our Chinese Idols to work with their Korean companies and groups. With many Chinese Idols recently coming out in support of the Chinese government and publicly supporting "One China," this has made it once again even less likely that Lay will be able to work with EXO in the near future. With Lay's deep ties to the Chinese government and with the fact that he is one of the most popular celebrities in China right now, he can't afford to be blacklisted by the Chinese government. He needs to be able to work and live in China as freely as possible. So, regardless of how he might feel politically on a personal level, he has to come out in support of the Chinese government publicly, which puts him at odds with many other counties views on the subject. With pressure from the Chinese government, it may have been difficult for him to stay neutral, or at least not make his opinion public, so unfortunately he is now receiving some backlash from people outside of mainland China. But no matter what, Lay always makes sure to find a way to show fans that he is, and will always be, a member of EXO -- he is always supporting his EXO brothers even from afar. Most recently we were able to see Lay back together with the rest of EXO when Lay came to Korea to be there for the day that D.O. enlisted in the military. And in most of Lay's solo work we have nods to EXO and how the stories in his solo MVs are connected to EXO's storyline. He always works hard to remind everyone how important EXO and EXO-Ls are to him. Do Kyungsoo is just incredible in every sense. He is one of the few vocalists who can make your heart flutter and cause a storm of emotions. He manages his deep voice and sweet timbre with such ease that the same part can sound completely different "starting very roughly and ending unrealistically gently". Kyungsoo's unique voice gives each song a unique charm. I'm ready to listen to his voice as much as I want.! Even when Kyungsoo just speaks, he wants to listen and listen to endlessly, such a pleasant voice.

@ys c It isn't over and I dont think it will ever be because China supports North Korea (with which S.Korea is basically at war) and South Korea supports U.S.A. (with which China has trade war and other problems) If you follow politics then from that itself you can understand that there is always going to be issues between S.Korea and China. It might seem over or better on the surface but it's obvious that things are brewing underneath.
Okhams Razor The thing I still don’t understand is how GOT7 Jackson Wang is able to have abit more freedom to move around between the group and solo while promoting GOT7 than LAY does with EXO? @@ellie_jeann There are plenty of reasons why we can't compare Jackson and Yixing 1.Jackson is not from mainland while Yixing is which makes a really big difference. 2. Jackson was not promoting Lotte, the company which gave S.Korean government the land to install THAAD defences system which started the whole thing. EXO was Lotte's brand ambassadors because of which Yixing had to face severe backlash in his home country. 3. Yixing was the first celebrity to be appointed as the ambassador of the communist youth league of China in 2015 and he continues to hold the position even now. So he has been involved in politics since then which makes him more prone to backlash if he does something the public can deem anti-national. 4. And finally, (I'm not undermining Jackson but) right now Yixing is one of the most popular and influential celebrities in China. Therefore, his activities in South Korea and EXO will have a much bigger impact than that of Jacksons and will bring him more Flak than what Jackson could receive. Yixing is a sweetheart who loves both his country and his brothers. But at the end of the day he is Chinese and that is where his home is. So, no matter how much he loves EXO he'll have to choose China over them. Although it's terrible to not have Yixing with EXO, we just have to push through.

But, just because Lay is not able to work with the rest of the members right now does not mean he isn't part of EXO. As a member of EXO he is still a very important part of everything they do and EXO is still really important to him as well.
Lay is one of the most famous celebrities in China right now, so everyone wants to work with him. He owns his own record label in China and he produces his own music, as well as music for other artists. Plus, he is, or was, a youth ambassador to China appointed by the government, which means he has a lot of obligations in China. He is considered China's national producer. He is also an actor and he is a spokesperson for a lot of Chinese products and causes -- he is the EXO member with the most endorsement deals. He is also a host of reality programs and is appearing on numerous variety shows in China, so this all keeps him very busy. He is one of the most sought after celebrities in China so he spends a lot of time living in China and away from the other EXO members. Because of his super busy schedule and because of some issues between the Chinese and Korean government, Lay has not been a part of EXO activities for more than 3 years now, other than his cameo appearance in. the Korean version of "Tempo" MV and his brief vocal part in the Mandarin version of "Tempo" MV and song in 2018.
His hiatus from EXO is not something he has chosen, but its something that has sort of been forced upon him by the government. So he has recently been working hard to find ways around those restrictions, which explains one reason why he has been releasing so many English songs lately. By producing songs in English for the U.S. market it allows him and SM to do collaboration projects which give him a chance to keep his connection to EXO, without actually breaking any rules, and it allows SM to connect the stories in his MVs to EXO's storyline.
Now I am no where near an expert on the topic, and I admit that I only understand a very minor part of what is going on between the Chinese and Korean government, but as I understand it, part of the reason for the ban on Chinese and Korean workers between the two countries is that China is refusing to align itself with the U.S. or South Korea to protect themselves with deployment of the THAAD missile defense system in South Korea. North Korea and China want to get rid of the rocket system that is meant to shoot down a nuclear missile if North Korea were to launch one at South Korea or the U.S. Another reason why China doesn't like the THAAD system is because China and the U.S. don't have the best relationship, so if the U.S. and China become on even worse terms China is afraid the U.S. could also use THAAD against them. China says the THAAD system is just provoking them to actually start a nuclear war, and until they remove it or at least move it back from the South Korean boarder, they will continue their ban on Korean products, workers and the Hallyu wave from working in China and for its native Chinese citizens from working with Korean companies. China feels like the Korean government is taking away its native commodities by allowing Chinese people to work in Korea. The issue is even more complicated than this, but that is one part of it.
And now, with the recent conflict with the Chinese government and Hong Kong, more political tension has continued to make it difficult for our Chinese Idols to work with their Korean companies and groups. With many Chinese Idols recently coming out in support of the Chinese government and publicly supporting "One China," this has made it once again even less likely that Lay will be able to work with EXO in the near future. With Lay's deep ties to the Chinese government and with the fact that he is one of the most popular celebrities in China right now, he can't afford to be blacklisted by the Chinese government. He needs to be able to work and live in China as freely as possible. So, regardless of how he might feel politically on a personal level, he has to come out in support of the Chinese government publicly, which puts him at odds with many other counties views on the subject. With pressure from the Chinese government, it may have been difficult for him to stay neutral, or at least not make his opinion public, so unfortunately he is now receiving some backlash from people outside of mainland China.
But no matter what, Lay always makes sure to find a way to show fans that he is, and will always be, a member of EXO -- he is always supporting his EXO brothers even from afar. Most recently we were able to see Lay back together with the rest of EXO when Lay came to Korea to be there for the day that D.O. enlisted in the military. And in most of Lay's solo work we have nods to EXO and how the stories in his solo MVs are connected to EXO's storyline. He always works hard to remind everyone how important EXO and EXO-Ls are to him.
Lay is known as one of the hardest working artist in the industry because he is such a perfectionist and he pretty much does it all himself.When it comes to his solo work Lay is known for writing and composing the songs (including the rap sections), as well as producing them and he takes a large part in coming up with the choreography and producing the MVs as well.
When it comes to his solo work, he pretty much has a hand in all aspects of every part of every project, there is pretty much nothing he can't do.
I think people misunderstand Lay (Zhang Yixing) sometimes when they first see him because he often comes off as kind of aloof and standoffish and super serious, but what more people need to understand is that, if you get to know him, you will soon find it's because he is very dedicated and committed to what he does and he always wants to show his best self at all times. In reality he is kind of shy and doesn't like to have a lot of attention on himself. When you hear Lay's song "Sheep" you will discover that he is our "China Sheep -- the lead sheep in China." So he has two sides to him and that's what makes him a sheep -- soft, kind and cute, and powerful and dedicated. Do Kyungsoo is just incredible in every sense. He is one of the few vocalists who can make your heart flutter and cause a storm of emotions. He manages his deep voice and sweet timbre with such ease that the same part can sound completely different "starting very roughly and ending unrealistically gently". Kyungsoo's unique voice gives each song a unique charm. I'm ready to listen to his voice as much as I want.! Even when Kyungsoo just speaks, he wants to listen and listen to endlessly, such a pleasant voice.

@ys c It isn't over and I dont think it will ever be because China supports North Korea (with which S.Korea is basically at war) and South Korea supports U.S.A. (with which China has trade war and other problems) If you follow politics then from that itself you can understand that there is always going to be issues between S.Korea and China. It might seem over or better on the surface but it's obvious that things are brewing underneath.
Okhams Razor The thing I still don’t understand is how GOT7 Jackson Wang is able to have abit more freedom to move around between the group and solo while promoting GOT7 than LAY does with EXO? 1.Jackson is not from mainland while Yixing is which makes a really big difference.
2. Jackson was not promoting Lotte, the company which gave S.Korean government the land to install THAAD defences system which started the whole thing. EXO was Lotte's brand ambassadors because of which Yixing had to face severe backlash in his home country.
3. Yixing was the first celebrity to be appointed as the ambassador of the communist youth league of China in 2015 and he continues to hold the position even now. So he has been involved in politics since then which makes him more prone to backlash if he does something the public can deem anti-national.
4. And finally, (I'm not undermining Jackson but) right now Yixing is one of the most popular and influential celebrities in China. Therefore, his activities in South Korea and EXO will have a much bigger impact than that of Jacksons and will bring him more Flak than what Jackson could receive.
Yixing is a sweetheart who loves both his country and his brothers. But at the end of the day he is Chinese and that is where his home is. So, no matter how much he loves EXO he'll have to choose China over them. Although it's terrible to not have Yixing with EXO, we just have to push through.

EXO is a South Korean-Chinese Kpop group with 9 members, initially had 12 members separated as two subgroups EXO-K & EXO-M. They formed in 2011 debuting on April 8, 2012 under SM Entertainment. Kai has a few dramas and movies that he’s done overtime & some artist collaborations along with Baekhyun who also has some artist collaborations of his own. Kyungsoo (D.O) has a few films and dramas that he’s starred in. Chanyeol had starred in drama called “Missing Nine” and has some solo songs where he sings & raps. Suho with Baekhyun had dominated fashion world when they attended Privé Alliance Event. Xiumin enlisted April 2019 and month later D.O decided its best to enlist early so he enlisted June 2019. Suho will be enlisting toward the end of the year. On other hand it’s reported that Chen, one of main vocalists is the first korean member of EXO to make a solo debut but he’s not the first EXO member overall to go solo. They are still a group; the members themselves are preparing for the next step in their career, so when the older members have to enlist for at least 1 1/2 years then return they have something to fall back on until the rest of the members return from military. On the other hand, Kris had earned a role in the third installment XXX: Return of Xander Cage movie with Vin Diesel along with other roles before that and Luhan has also been in some chinese movies and dramas. Tao has a recent new comeback called “AI”, the MV and song very interesting (I unfortunately haven’t heard much about Kris, Luhan, and Tao)! I’ve seen some clips and the trailer of a new Chinese movie that LuHan is going to be starring in called “Shanghai Fortress” which probably came out already.
Since there’s not much of EXO-M, Chen & Xiumin were added to EXO-K until LAY returns from his solo projects; he NEVER permanently left the group nor has any plans to leave either!
