I really hope he was able to get back to the track this year. Just heard of his passing about about 10 minutes ago. Truly one of the most prominent and memorable voices in all off motorsport
TRULY THANKFUL. Bob got his last INDY 500. He got to witness Helio get four wins and that crowd reaction. Thank GOD he got that. Rest in Peace to the voice of motorsports in my childhood. This hurts badly.
I’m sure most of are here after his passing. Such an iconic voice from a gentle man! That call in 92 is one the greatest calls not just in motor sports history, but sports history. RIP Bob and thank you for so many memories.
2:54 “Thank you fans…I love you”. That got me choked me up… Racing will never be the same without Bob’s iconic voice. And we love you too Bob. Thank YOU.
Mr Jenkins, you may consider yourself lucky, but you made your luck sir. Race fans are lucky to have you in the press box - Your talent as a vocalist is underated- On a lighter note, I can't remember how many times I have heard someone wonder out loud " He still looks the same age he did 25 yrs ago!" I tend to be a little analitical and you always have a way of articulating nuances in a way folks who may rarely if ever see a car race understand and appreciate. Your chemistry with Benny is a perfect illustration of this- I very much hope Bob Jenkins understands what an important place he resides in the history of motor sports
I wanted to mention how this an was one of my favorite announcers of any sport during my childhood. Loved the ESPN thunder programs. RIP Mr. Jenkins. and thank you for the insight and knowledge and just do in ng what you did.
As much as he is loved and respected for his Indy contributions, he was the voice of NASCAR for the 90's, and I particularly remember him for that. RIP Bob, thanks for everything!
Thanks for the memories Bob, you will be sadly missed. Rip sir and hopefully you can meet up with a few of your racing buddies including Davey Allison. Rest easy my friend. You were truly the best.
RIP Bob. The pre race ceremonies also cause me to tear up. I'm sure that next year will be even more so, when the same ceremonies include a fitting tribute to you.
When Bob called a race he put his heart & soul into it !! I'm surprised he didn't have a heart attack calling the finish of the 1992 Indy 500 & especially that last lap call at the 1989 Holly Farms 400 in North Wilksboro when Rudd & Earnhardt tangled & spun each other out !! R.I.P. BOB The sports world will never forget you !💔
As long as the interviewer respectfully asked prior to turning the cameras on if Bob was willing to talk about it, I think it's ok. A lot of people want to know about it, not only to know his mental/physical well-being at the time because people care about him, but because all of us will be facing our mortality sooner or later and having that wisdom and insight may help.
@@scarecrow_9895 Please enlighten me why it was a horrible thing to ask. It's not a trick question. You have such a strong opinion, yet you apparently can't articulate why you feel this way?
The voice of my childhood. Benny and Bob are back together calling races again, in heaven.

It's not your last race Bob. You'll be back for the 2022 race.
This aged well...
@@megabutters9144 Fuck you. Trying to give the guy hope a few months ago.
Voice of my childhood- from the Nascar side. The sport began losing my interest when Bob stopped calling. He sounded like home. Thanks old friend!
It's a sad day at the race track. What a horrible thing to ask a dying man, "how does it feel?".
As long as the interviewer respectfully asked prior to turning the cameras on if Bob was willing to talk about it, I think it's ok. Another famed voice has been silenced. Hopefully Tom Carnegie will be there to welcome him.
His wife had brain cancer? That house needs to be tested for radon and everything else
A huge loss for racing.
