Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time RUclipsr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. @@LisaMarlene.That's definitely true! She's the only one I trust completely on beauty reviews. I have others that I watch, when I get the chance, but Jen is the only one that I really trust when it comes to getting the real "story" on whatever product it is and it doesn't matter if it costs $500, $50 or $5! She will tell you if the $5 product worked just as well or even better than the other two or if it worked worst! No matter the cost or the brand of the product; Jen will tell you how it worked for her and how she thinks it might work for someone with a different skin type or any other variation that might make your experience different from hers so you don't waste your money! She also just seems like the sweetest person and that's just my personal observation from watching her now for about 4 to 5 years.
So, YES... she's a very classy woman and she seems like the type that would be a great best friend. I'm sure that's why she does well on here (well that and her hard work and commitment to giving us the best content without taking sponsorships!) I didn't mean to make this a thesis (sorry🤪) but I've been sick for quite some time and I've missed quite a few of Jen's show's so maybe I'm getting sentimental from missing them and the meds I'm on. 😵💫🤣🤷🏼♀️
(I am going to go back and watch them. I don't ever miss one of Jen's for long)

Those Moira cream blushes are so perfect for travel because they're small, pigmented and they don't crack and shatter in your makeup bag like baked blushes.
Alter Ego can make ND color stories look more appealing (at least to me) with how they arrange the shades. I also think their packaging is so pretty.
For the glow recipie drops, if we're putting a product on after sunscreen, how are any skin care benefits getting through? This is why I think skincare in makeup is just a marketing plot to charge more. Makeup goes on top. I already have skincare and if anything too many layers don't play well together.
Exactly! I wonder the same thing about blushes and lip colors that are self-adjusting with your pH. We're all using sunscreens and primers, so how do these trendy products even work?
I agree. Especially if the so called skin care is raising the prices in these products I can definitely do without. Have be more conscientious these days with where our money is going and why. So as to maximize the benefits for us the consumer.
I spent my career as a beauty professional and have been saying this since the trend began! Also, looking at the ingredients, these skincare ingredients are often very low on the list. Sure, they can technically say they’re in the product, but they would do nothing even if we weren’t layering over sunscreen

Or is the additional product breaking down the sunscreen?!? That’s why I haven’t tried Merit great skin.

I know she creates her products for mature skin and I’ve heard so many great reviews on her Balance n Brighten powder foundation, but I’m curious on your thoughts, not sponsored.
She has some nice looking cream blush sticks on her website as well as lipsticks and a good mascara. There’s also bronzer, and subtle but illuminating highlighters.
I have some of her powder blushes and love them. I think she’s an underrated brand which is why I’m asking you to review her line. 💜

@@JenPhelpsI see a lot of advertising for her powder foundation, and I'd like to see your review of it. I'm skeptical as to how well it would work on dry skin. However, not all mature skin is dry; some people remain oily into old age, so maybe that's the users it's designed for.

I LOVE the Lancome foundation stick and the only other one I’ve gotten that I love as much is the Westman Atelier Foundation Stick…it’s more but it’s such a beautiful foundation stick! Super easy, hydrating. To me, it’s more hydrating on my dry skin than the Lancome, but still lasts all day and doesn’t fade away and looks nice on my skin. I LOVE them both equally! If my skin is more dry though, I’ll go for Westman. But both have great coverage, so easy to apply, look nice and natural on the skin. Love them!

I've been doing the same with purpleish blushes! I'm also a fair cool toned gal and the recent trend of new cool pink and purple blushes has allowed me to really appreciate how those shades look on my skin! After so many years of makeup I still find new discoveries! 🩷💜
I was amazed that the purple shades actually didn't look purple on Jen; I was skeptical until I saw them on her. I'm also fair and cool toned, but since I'm on a no buy right now (except for replacing mascara), I'm not going to experiment with a purple shade. When I run out of blush, I'll stick with replacing a pink tone because that's a basic color for me. Maybe someday I'll try a purple as a splurge.

Natasha lays her palettes out to make any eye look using all the colors in a row or column together or as quads or six pans, also diagonally. She really puts a lot of thought into,her layouts. I learned this from watching one of her in depth videos when she created the Biba palette. Hope this is helpful!

Fun start to the day! Some great packages here. I am most interested in the Jane Iredale (I am only 1/3 in though)
One trick I learn from a make up artist is if you want your lip product to look good on your lips regarless of the formula, is to really strech your lips. To make sure that if you have rinkles on your lips, this allows the product to get in and it looks 100 times better. It's always better to apply a lipliner first. It makes for a more define and polish finish on your lips. By the way, I love this new format. Thks Jen

Speaking of really glossy, I recently bought some lip oils off Amazon that are great. Ruby Kisses Hydrating Lip Oil Clear in a 6 pack for $6.99. When you first apply it, there is a light mint scent and very minimal feeling, more like what I get with a medicated chapstick. That dissipates quickly. It generally hangs around for a couple of hours, depending on whether you eat, drink, etc. It goes on great over lipsticks. At that price, I don't care if I need to reapply often!
Also, THANK You for the I'm Meme Tone Up Pact - I use it for everything now! It is perfect under my eyes over color correct and concealers. I also use it in my T zone and never need to reapply it. I have dry skin with light oiliness in T zone. I consider it the best purchase so far in 2024!

When I saw the mauve shade of the Tarte blush, it reminded me of a shade I wore constantly as a lippie in the 90’s🌟If anyone releases that as a lip color, I’ll grab it for sure💄Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone☘️🍀💫

Online it looks more like a pink and I wouldn’t have bought it if I saw it there 😂 But I saw it in store and it was a dusty mauve color like I loved in the 90s so I got it and I love it. It’s the Covergirl Outlast All-Day Lip Color with Moisturizing Top Coat. It’s a matte lip with a clear topper. The color is beautiful!

The Jane Iredale Lip stain/balm is the very best I have ever found, and have it on subscription. I keep several in several different places. It lasts longer than anything else, and never dries lips out. I find that the red stain translates into a deeper coral which lasts even longer due to intensity.
I’ve seen some reviewers use the Fenty stick to carve their eyebrows or more of a spot concealer as opposed to a foundation stick.

Hi Jen ! Thank you for this video, very appreciate! I have a little request …. Is it possible when you try a foundation to apply it with a brush in a half of your face instead of only with your fingers. It might be interesting to see how it applies with a brush ( or a sponge ) because I hate applying foundation with my fingers (stick foundation included). Thank you very much! 💖

The Alter Ego palette is pretty. I don’t wear pastels but I am slowly getting into them so I think that an economical palette that works well is what I should get. I don’t mind the textured look in the AE pinky/purple shade.

Hi Jen, it’s supposed to be dented to allow your finger some grip. Mine has the same dent and you’ll feel why it’s there when you use it. Very helpful!

I also LOVE the Lancôme foundation stick! I was quite surprised by how easy it blends and how nice it looks and feels on. I had tried the Fenty tint stick before the Lancôme, which is a big reason I decided to try it. The Fenty is even better than the Lancôme, in my opinion. But both are great!

I like the liquid blushes from Moira better than the cream. The cream don’t seem to last long on me. I hope they make a purple shade in the liquid like they have in the cream.

I got the LA Girl pastel palette, which is definitely more pigmented than most pastel palettes. But I don’t use pastel palettes that often. BUT I LOVE pastel palettes to use when I need blending shades for darker shades of a similar color. So helpful to get a nice, seamless blend!
