Bartimaeeus I'll find the middle ground in your opinions and recognise that Simon Greene didn't start gaining the his (much deserved) acclaim he has now considering it wasnt until Black Sands (BS) and North Borders that his music (& incredible DJ sets) gained prominence. His pre-BS discog is just as sublime but definitely was the "underrated phase" of his career. God bless his music and genius....
Does anyone else look back on 2014 and wish we hadn't just gone through the shit we've had since then? Those years since have ruined almost all hope for me.
As amazing as Simon Greene is, the drummer is what makes the music come to life. Otherwise, it's just a series of bings and bongs. He is truly stunning in his rhythm.
You know, I was thinking the same thing. Also... why is he touching the knobs so much? If it's all synthesized and there is no human musical skill, he should just have the entire track programmed.
@@lionpulse3178 "Special Flavor" ?? This is not popcorn. More likely, he is falling victim to the plague that infects all DJ's. They are addicted to touching the knobs, even though it makes absolutely no difference at all to anyone listening.
So many people are watching the headliners, predominantly mainstream pop artists. Any TRUE music fan would be searching and watch true artists. I envy those who were there watching great music ❤

I was watching this documentary about bonobos.. I thought like, I wanna be a bonobo. Then I was like... That's the perfect name for my soundcloud user name and maybe I'll grow big one day and be called that. Then I realized, it's already taken by this talented guy. Well, still have to come up with a good name for my soundcloud..
This awesome watching it live, but the sound at West Holts stopped working completely on the Left side of the stage a couple of songs later which really ruined the mood.
The drummer is talented, it just seems to me that live drums need to be very minimal and in the back of the mix to lift the frequencies up, not bog them down. The acid for instance uses quality kick samples, an spdsx, and hi hats(in addition to keeping the beat minimal).
I personally like it (this is one of my favorite songs in the whole world and I'll take it just about anyway I can get it) because the drummer's on cue but I understand where you're coming from. I think it's a combo of a sound mixing issue which is technical, getting the levels right etc for each song in a concert set is tough, and aesthetic as in should the drums be up front or further back. It's not easy to get right with the combo of acoustic instruments and sampled/electronic instruments. I think the trick (when I've seen it done well) is to use pickups rather than mikes on acoustic instruments so you can get a wider dynamic range and do sick effects. Either that or use electronic drums. There's so much we can do with "real" or electronic instruments and effects and there is the visual impact of watching the instrument being played.
Well I certainly can't argue with any of that. Not to mention the 500lb gorilla that is a concert stage set up with instruments running through various mediums. I like the gusto, I just feel that it's frequencies are bogged down not necessarily in comparison with the album recording just overall in this performance. There's also a distinct possibility I'm being an avant garde music snob🤔
4 blokes with thousands of quids worth of technology making the sound of two blokes with a 1.99p Mbira ,a kids xylophone and a drum kit sound somehow worse, mechanical and soulless..hurray :/
this isn't minimalism.this is purely my own opinion but the more minimalist approach would be favoured especially if they simply didn't bother playing this insipid pretentious weakness.. there are many finer acts than this of a similar vein with far more integrity, soul and actual skill.."plaid" for example to name but one

these pillocks didn't come up with anything first..this is tescotechno, they sell it on the same isle as the slippers for crying out loud..if you like it then that is fine. i aint jelly honest guv. it does boil my piss though..it's got as much heart and soul as a frozen yorkshire pudding and is about as edgy and original AND they are called "bonobo" nobonobo no
One of those songs you could never grow tired of listening. And i cannot describe how much underrated this song and Bonobo is. Hats off Simon Greene.
lol he is not at all underrated. his concerts are always sold out.

@@JamieTransNyc he is adding his own special flavour with those knobs if u are really listening to the sound effects! There is a big difference

Producer genius! Here in the US, we have Dr. Dre, Kanye West, and Timbaland. Simon, is all three of those guys rolled into one!

temporarily it stopped, yeah, but once they sorted it out a few minutes later the left side of the crowd went off
That guy walks on then at 1:08 I was like "Why is that sound guy playing?" Lol oops

Love it, sounds like House music, if I were there i would dance so fucking much

Bien James nahh that's just 5 minutes! The entire gig was on youtube but it's not anymore :(
What synths are they using
480p? lol common abc
That Jason Statham's a quality drummer inee?
Opening reminds me of Bananarama lolz
i'm bounce-ing
The only drummer more in the pocket is DJ from Khruangbin.
Jason Stathan in the drun's? lol
mt ekskrament
The drums were okay, but could have been better.
ScorchBox shut your ass
Live drums once again muddying the set. Fucking drummers don't know how to sit in the back of the mix. Jesus.
There's a reason moderat sticks to high quality audio recordings.
Shannon Mares I agree I like the live feel but they seem like they're not in sync enough or mixed oddly or smnthg

pink floyd is better
They are both amazingly talented
