You make good points, however, this advice should be taken with grain of salt, as yes you should expect the best in someone and be forgiving because if you were in there position, you’d want them to show you that same kindness l, however, we shouldn’t be completely blind to mistakes and should address things that can be problematic in strengthening your relationship with that person. For example: if a partner or fiend crosses a boundary, depending on the type of situation, yes, you should be forgiving but you should also be able to tell someone when they are doing something wrong. You shoos be able to be truthful with them, because if you can’t be honest with them, then you don’t really care about them. The best way is honestly, but also approaching it in a kind way, like “ I appreciate your efforts, and I see that you are trying, can I do something to help you be better? Do you need any assistance?” Wording is very important here. You are validating the person’s efforts and you are offering help if they need it but you shouldn’t lie and say hey you are perfect in the way you are treating me or in the way you are acting lately.
