What a star he is, when I lived in Belfast one of the guys I worked with older brother was a life long friend of Van, grew up on the same street My workmates brother was a mechanic but every time Van came home to Belfast was tight with his old friend.
VAN THE MAN doesn't know me & that I am deep down to my very soul in love with him as millions of others are. His lyrics are a Bridge Soothing & Inspirational with a bump of funk to all that feel him His music, like no other, is his own Van IS The Man Multitalented Gifted to a fault 🙏 God Bless Van Morrison💃 They don't get more soulful than him
clearly Van having throat issues. probs would have postponed but being his first time on TV in 10 yrs, he went on with the show. doesn't sound his normal powerful self. still absolutely great tho ! thx for posting
This is true... Van had his vocal capacity diminished at this time due to some illness... It also was the case on the released vhs concert that was filmed at the Beacon Theater in New York...right around this appearance
@@Elisa-im6ll He seems aged in this vid 1989 ? He is about 44... And his performances have been praised by many for all these years after this performance as he has grown older and older than he is here. He is AGED TODAY in 2024 and yet... AMAZINGLY, he still has a voice that impresses many... You are correct that this is something very rare for a ageing singer...but it wasnt the case in this performance in his mid 40s... I was referring to a revealed fact about a actual illness he was experiencing at this exact time... I read about it being the case in a published article or book...many years ago. Thank you for reading and responding to my comment.
@@Elisa-im6ll Well then.. Perhaps you know of the concert I'm referring to... That happened right before this TV appearance... If you type in... Van Morrison Live 1989 Beacon Theater ..One of the results will be the whole vhs release on a channel with a ASIAN name
There was an appearance he did on Late Show that was a duet with Sinéad O'Connor. (There's already a low-quality version elsewhere on RUclips.) It made me laugh out loud when it first aired because Van was absolutely insane throughout the number and ended it by grabbing *her* microphone. Sinéad looked like she wanted to run away.
Van is having throat problems here, laringitis perhaps a cold. He did a good job but was surprised to hear him this way. He should have had some co- singers singing more like he usually does. Nice to see him in the 80s, he did a lot of shows.
We were told that he was not comfortable being on stage again on tv after all of that time... he did not interview with Dave that night We were front ro... he was still awesome 💚 the craic was mighty!

I love these clips, although I also get worried that these clips are becoming my way of knowing someone has died (Fats Domino, Tom Petty, etc) since you manage to post them imidently after someone dies (knowing we need it most after the shock and sadness.) I am glad this time is not the case.
Yeah, you're not the first to be (sincerely) concerned about that. I had just digitized this show and felt these performances were worth sharing. Nothing more traumatic than that. But I see your point.

Love this man and music.
The Beatles were talking
about how Georgie Fame
influenced them.
Georgie Fame on the
keyboards.
Moondance is my favorite Van Morrison song.
That is a great song, my favorite also..

There's a more-decent clip here -- ruclips.net/video/2iEP-d4_w7U/видео.html
He MUST have been drunk!
I think what happened at the end was he was trying to do some lennon mccartney type mic sharing and accidentally kicked the mic stand lmao
He was also the first musical guest on the Fallon version of "Late Night" (2009-2014).

🥰Amen.. Two songs praising God.🙏
