I went from playing with GI Joes in the 80s, and my GI joe time ended when Cesspool was the main villian. Oddly enough around the same time that Cesspool got discontinued, I got into Vampire the masquerade and werewolf the apocalypses. The world of Darkness (white wolf) launched and the evil corporation PENTEX was born into pop culture. Cesspool could easily have been a PENTEX Board Director.
That DIC G.I.Joe series is one of the most hilarious shows I have ever watched. You cannot tell me the writers for the series were sober, they *had* to have been on something!
They had dropped 3 different lines in his lap, he did it all in 3 issues. Toward the end it happened to the team again with Star Brigade, and the Mega Marines (which was supposed to reintroduce Dr Mindbender, or something).

Whole Eco Warriors line was pretty much Hasbro trying to do Captain Planet with G.I. Joe for quick buck.

Yup. And it's still better than G.I. Joe Extreme aka Rob Liefield G.I. Joe.
I consider the IDW issues the same series as the one started by marvel it's just now it's a different publishing company.
I'd also like to mention that, in the Sunbou cartoon anyway, Cesspool's toxic vipers have their own battle cry. "Pollute and destroy."
