- Always love checking out new spots on the Fraser River. This spot took some searching, but eventually found the hot spot, and had a great first day to the season gold panning along the Fraser river. Which included finding a literal pile of gold.

Sure you didn't find a lot of gold, and it wasn't the best day you have had on the river, but it was still a FINE day on the Fraser.

@@G00G00L True, but to put it into perspective the sell value of what he found is about $50. Take into account the gas, travel time, and placer cost, and he's making less than $3/hr (of coarse this isn't including what he gets from RUclips, selling rocks/other minerals, etc.). A person definitely needs to consider it an enjoyable hobby first and foremost at that rate, anything else is a bonus.
I love knowing that people like Dan are out there just doing their thing.

Ice was out on the lakes here, zero snow left on the ground, and spring had just sprung on the calendar...
Then mother nature dumped about 50cm of snow yesterday, and of course, my snowblower was acting funky after being fine all winter. 😂
Dan... some guys were from Australia were wondering if you can train dogs to find gold. Who needs dogs? Dan has trained a sturgeon to yabbi up gravels from the river and spit it in his pan. LOL

Hey, why not have a hand-held metal detector or wand for your large rocks? Just to a quick wave over the large stuff, if it goes off then check it. It would take a couple of seconds and it gives you peace of mind.

You know your claim way better than anyone else around so I feel that others should not question your knowledge of what you are doing in your videos, but we do love the funny armchair prospector's knowledge of everything someone does wrong. Hard-core people like the nonstop gold panning....BUT the masses of people like the "adventure" of prospecting videos.
So it makes more sense for him to cater to the larger audience....

You tell'em Dan ! My only thought would be to dig deeper, thinking there might be older deposits under the bluff fluff ! But it's your spot and you know it better then anyone else !
So cool seeing that. I go to a few spots on Mission Creek and can get between 0.1 and 0.3gm on average

Every time I watch a Dan Hurd vid, I get the urge to fly to Canada and learn how to prospect. My bucket list has finding gold, digging for precious stones and opal prospecting on it, looks like Canada could potentially fix 2/3 in one trip 🤞

Hey Dan, in October 2023 I lost a silver handmade earring on the upper Fraser near mount Robson while doing Swiftwater rescue. I doubt it’ll make it down to you but part of me hopes I’ll see it again in one of your videos. Haha big dreams but one can hope!
Those trains you love to see, I used to work on the CPR side. Might of seen you before I knew of you, if you panned the Frazer between 97 and 2000. Love your show, keep panning!
I'd be tempted to check right along that line partway up the bank where the rocks change color.
