Hawks fan here, have watched Wilson for years. He’s always had trouble seeing short routes because he’s not tall enough. He used to run more which got him out of trouble but that seems to have mostly stopped.
People don't talk above about how his height affects him. He's done very well to compensate for that in the past with his legs, but the success got to his head.
People talk like his height is a personal failing of his. He has no control over that. He could see short routes if he had adequate protection. The Seahawks knew he was undersized when they drafted him yet never put him into position to see short routes by DRAFTING elite O-Linemen. No, instead he got Mike Upati, George Fant (a concerted basketball player/project) and Germaine Ifedi!!!! 😡 Russ leaves and, to save his own a$$, Pete finally listens to his shots and drafts the nation’s top O-Lineman to protect Geno, who is still a second-tier WB despite looking better this year than anyone expected. What a middle finger! That is worse than the middle finger ET gave Pete Carroll in 2018. People need to quit talking about Russ’s height. If height was a determining factor in QB greatness, Fran Tarkington, Sonny Jurgenson and Drew Brees wouldn’t have become HoF QBs, and Doug Flutie would have been sacked a lot more than he was. Aaaah. The difference between Flutie and Russ, besides Russ’s superior talent? Flutie’s coaches understood that they couldn’t park him behind garbage and expect him to perform. Get off of Russ’s height! He has the skills to make ANY pass, but his coach and GM have to get him a strong O-Line. He can hit people across the middle.
@@marathawnjawn8862 : Russ came into camp at 205 pounds this year. Furthermore, how was he slower averaging nearly 550 yards rushing until 2020? Many of his best runs came after 2015! If anything, he got faster.
Born and raised Seattle local, I can tell you it's one simple thing: his legs. Russell Wilson was never a top end burner, but he was very quick and slippery in tight spaces. In the 2016 season, he suffered a bad ankle sprain and an MCL sprain early in the season (different legs). For anyone who wasn't blinded by his growing highlight reel, he was slower after those injuries occurred. Not dramatically slower, but slower enough to be noticeable, to my eye. Still he was quick, and his passing game really developed. He was a great pre-snap read QB. However, in the past 3-4 seasons our success in Seattle started dropping off and our frustrations grew. Russ began to slow down a lot more (and got noticeably fatter). 2020 is when everyone really noticed and yet sports commentators, Seattle fans, and football fans would all continue to say Wilson needed to get back to running around more, even as we all acknowledged that he just didn't have the wheels anymore. Reality check - he's going to be 34 soon. For what his style of play requires of him, he's slow. He's got enough legs left to roll out of the pocket to make certain throws, but not as consistently as he used to. Escaping a broken/collapsing pocket is pretty much a thing of the past. Where he used to be able to react to a collapsed pocket, he now has to feel a collapsing pocket and bail out just a little bit sooner. Wilson's legs facilitated EVERYTHING about his game. His legs allowed him to be deadly as a runner and as a passer. I think he can still be a top 12 QB for 3 more seasons. Denver is having to overpay massively for that, but their offense will be better next year. They need to improve their receivers, and they really need a good RB. If they can somehow keep that defense together despite Wilson's contract, they can be contenders. I think if Wilson could put his ego aside and restructure his contract to pay him substantially less (do the Brady thing), they'd be in a position to build a great team. He won't do that, though. More so than losing his legs, I think what appears to be an inflated ego is ultimately Wilson's undoing.
To be fair, Carson is a good back, but isn't Penny good. But Penny is always hurt. What would have happened if Penny was injured along with Carson? we will never know
Also worth pointing out that players like Brady or Brees are exceptions, many qb have fallen off in mid thirties. Wilson's game relied more on his physical tools than others, so like you say he fell off sooner. That happened to McNabb and Vick too. Wilson in his prime was elite despite his limitations, and he had a great run in the nfl. Seahawks got a steal where they drafted him, and again when they my moved him to Denver lol. Probably up there all time in terms of net value given to Seattle as a franchise, and he himself has a ring. Good deal for all involved. Other than the Broncos, who are hosed.
As a Seahawks fan, I realized in 2018 that he doesn’t know how to read defenses. He scrambles after the first read, and that’s why he was highly sacked, as a Hawk. However, he was good at that “backyard” style of football. He’s older and slower now, so him being able to make those elusive throws, doesn’t happen any more.
I think it is really sad how many Seahawks fans are rewriting Wilson’s career. After all he’s done, the new hate for him has gone too far. Russell Wilson was one of the better QBs going to his 3rd and 4th read according to PFF. He’s exploited defenses and audibled into great plays in the past. He’s not a one read QB who can’t read defenses. That is dishonest.
@@brianwilliams1358 No hate coming from me. Just an observation that was made four years ago. If you study Wilson on tape, you’ll see that his processing of pre-snap to post-snap, definitely needs work. He’s not always looking in the right direction of his route progression. Hence, he holds onto the ball too long because he misses his open read.
I think a lot of it as to do with him not having Lockett now too. They have always had a special connection, and so much of their offense was based around improve type plays, and there are very few as good as that as Lockett.
such a bullshit excuse. If you dont build chemistry with your new receivers 1/2 way into the season you just suck. Bronco fans will reach for anything that gives an excuse and its comical at best
@@steverm3438 Seahawks fan for one, and for 2 it has little to do with chemistry, some receivers are good at recognizing when a play has broken down and finding soft spots in defense, and some aren't. He's just happened to have a few of the best in his career. Chill lol
For years we watched offensive ineptitude for 3 quarters followed by light bulbs suddenly switching on and 4th-quarter heroic comebacks. We gave Russ the benefit of doubt and figured it was the coaching and game plan holding him back until they had no choice but to turn him loose late in the game. That's where the whole "Let Russ Cook" movement came from. We wanted them to play like that the whole game, not just in the 4th quarter! Today I still can't quite explain the Jekyll and Hyde offense we endured every week, but watching nearly all of our offensive problems move with him over to Denver while Geno is thriving by doing what he's told (and doing it well) is pretty convincing to me that Russ was actually holding himself back. And still is. I feel bad for him. He thought the grass would be greener in Denver but is now learning the hard way that he was actually taking a good situation for granted in Seattle. Even with that truckload of money and beautiful family he has, he must be absolutely frustrated and miserable about his professional situation, public image, and legacy. But in the end he's a victim of his own choices, nobody else's.
@@brianwilliams1358 That was only true for the first half of the season. After that, teams just started taking away the deep ball and they couldn't do anything. Wilson has never been great at mid range throws in the middle of the field, and will often take take too long to go to the checkdown (waiting for the homerun), and get sacked instead.
I think he really needs guys like Tate, Baldwin, and Lockett to be successful - guys who will get open on the scramble drill. Wilson is one of the best at "throwing people open" by using open space, but that only works if you have receivers who understand where open space is when the route breaks down. Without them, his scramble is less effective because DBs can attack the LOS more readily when he's out of the pocket, further limiting his (fading) potential with his legs.
@@brianwilliams1358 not making shit up. There was a time that Russell was decent on 3rd downs but I remember countless games where he did what hes doing now and goes 3 and out over and over for nearly 3 whole quarters. Only difference is he would pull it out in the 4th with us but not with yall. He doesnt throw over the middle, holds the ball way too long, blames everyone around him, takes zero accountability and now you're butthurt cuz you're a Broncos fan that didnt see all that we saw. Go watch some Seahawks games before you tell me Im making shit up! Thats why Russ 1st year away hes the worst qb in the NFL, and Geno Smith is one of the top qb's! Russ got figured out and instead of evolving his game he blamed Seahawks, forced his way out, got his ass kiss and put up the worst record of his career by far! Thats with a top 5 defense too!
He came in, worked hard, won a superbowl, lost one, got paid, married Ciara, became a celebrity in his head, became a business man, started a brand, stopped going deep into playoffs, blamed everyone but himself, sent his teamates to his manager, got traded, now sucks completely! That about sums it up
He came in, worked hard, won a superbowl, lost one and became the scapegoat for the loss by divisive teammates, married the love of his life, played through a bad knee injury for a full season, continued working hard, watched LOB players like Sherman attack coaches and fellow teammates, carried a Seahawks offense in which he was the leading rusher, became a successful businessman which should be applauded for a man of his background, carried below average defenses to the playoffs, Seahawks still tried to trade him in 2018, overcame Chris Carson and Penny being constantly injured, invited teammates to his home every summer, taught DK how to swim, watched his team trade two first rounders for a safety, watched his team struggle in drafts but take no accountability, watched his team not spend money on the offensive line, got tired of being the scapegoat, got tired of being put down despite his accomplishments, decided to bet on himself on a new team with a stronger defense and a recent history of good drafting. That about sums it up!
@@Smooth258if all that is true then why is he so bad now? If what you say has any logic that means the hawks were holding him back so why isn’t he blossoming when he finally got what he always wanted?
@@johnnyblazers he’s not lying but it goes both ways. Everybody hates him for leaving Seattle but in reality he was top 10 every year. He doesn’t have the hc to help him out and their offense sucks. RW does have a lot of flaws but the Broncos dont help covering it up
Sam, you didn't say anything about his mobility. In recent years he's clearly gotten stockier and slower. I don't know if that's just aging or if it has to do with training and conditioning. But without the scrambling ability he's relied more and more on a run game. And Denver's run game this year has been atrocious. One could argue that Penny's amazing play at the end of last season coincided with Wilson's return to effectiveness. I don't think that was a coincidence. Do you have thoughts on this?
His return to effectiveness at the end of last year is because his finger finally healed up by that point. He was solid up until his injury, then was shaky after returning from this injury, then became solid again around the time he probably should've waited to return anyway.
As somebody from Seattle who was a Wilson fan, I also used to point out his faults and people called me a hater. I always used to mention he seems to not see wide open receivers especially down the middle of the field and I blamed it on his stature. Well those people who called me hate her can now see all the flaws that I pointed out in Seattle are now being seen in Denver
I 100 percent agree. IMO, I believe it’s a result of a few factors. First Russ want to win a mvp, he has made that obvious. Second whenever a QB makes a big throw, the whole league goes crazy. In Russ’s mind, he thinks if he makes a lot of big throws he would win MVP and get a lot of fame and respect. He also thinks, only throwing big passes will increase the chance those big passes are completed, completing more big passes will get more positive attention from the media, the more media attention will give him better MVP odds. That’s why I think he only throws deep balls
@@Michael-uu7zq I think it's also something he got used to having to do because the offense sucked so bad, both schematically and by personnel. People forget that in the early years nearly all his receivers were late round or UFAs because Pete just wanted to run and play great D and that's where the resources went. Then after Beast Mode left town, they had a revolving door of RBs who couldn't stay healthy. We're only 4 years removed from the season in which he set an NFL record by accounting for 97% of the team's offense. And this revisionist history we're hearing now about how the offensive line was actually not so bad, and all the sacks were Wilson's fault? Really?
I have a source in the organization who is telling me Russ has been playing through an undisclosed case of ligma but the Broncos aren’t letting the info become public so as to not cause a panic
Good video. Hardcore football guys always analyze the game to no end, but the truth is is that when two good teams play each other, luck very often plays the biggest role. One little detail can turn the game. Many of the amazing touchdowns or completions, were not even good plays, almost intercepted, and were just barely barely made.
When your key motivators are, in no particular order: money, me, me, money and money, then an outsider can understand that it must be a grind now and its just to darn hard to put in the tough mental work required. The thing most players don't realize is that they have a customer and the customer is number one. You piss off the customer with character flaws like greed and they will not support you which makes your job tougher. I mean, I thought I was a nice guy, but I am actually enjoying keeping up on the broncos this season, funny how that works. (full disclosure- long time seahawk fan)
On one side you have Samuel's very balanced, very fair breakdown of the Broncos offense and Russell Wilson. On the other side you have the comments, which in summary is just "Russ man bad."
You missed some vary key points in this video mainly the fact that Wilson has always been a system QB. The Seahawks have Pete at the helm and once Wilson started wanting to get paid paid he became a problem. He was forcing Pete to chose between him or the defense and not only that he was demanding Pete change his play calling to let throw the ball the whole "let Russ cook" scam. It was Wilson who was bucking the system that made him. Now look at Geno a competent QB that has been plugged into Pete's system and is preforming outstanding.
No nuance to that comment. It's not a tv show. Like the video pointed out, the broncos are almost entirely running the Seahawks offense at this point. Barely any outside zone runs like the offense started out the season with as well. The Packers offense which is basically the Shanahan west coast style offense which is a lot of quick high low concepts against coverages the opposing teams run predominantly. Russell never hits his hot read or even looks at what should be his hot read against heavy pressure.
@@furiogiunta7886 The Seahawks are not a great team. Pretty average. Geno has always had some raw talent, and they play decent complimentary football. Is it possible they get into the playoff, quite possible. But, they are not going anywhere from there. Geno is going to tease you Seahawks fans into thinking he can be the answer for the next couple of seasons and they could possibly blow their opportunity with their 2 1st picks next year.. I think this season for Russ is will be a good leaning experience. It will lead to success in the future. The talent still shows on game film. Its his eyes and confidence that is gone right now.
This comment is the complete opposite of the analysis presented. The Seahawks don't have a consistent offensive system. Never have. Pete Carroll is a defensive head coach who has a defensive system. But the OC's have had several different systems in place. They had and have abandoned ZBS. They aired it out for half a year. They have been super run heavy (which is really only 50% runs). This comment is simply ignorant of what has happened in Seattle.
personal, i think the Rodgers and Lafluer combo made any system look special, haveing Adams who is ALWASY open helps too. you got 2 of the best players and the best offensive mind besides Kyle and you get 2020 packers.
@@Cf.8463 he gave us a lot of good memories so it's respectful to wish him to perform well. so many people celebrating a man's decline and struggles over a mostly meaningless few draft positions is just fucked up.
@@Spartan0430 I get it. I have that sentimental feeling towards Russ too because of the memories. But truth is that he forced his hand out of Seattle and most of this downfall is his own doing. Future of the Seahawks > Russ
Compare the pre snap motions at the LOS w/ Geno n Russ. Im seeing more adjustments at the LOS from Geno this season than I seen from Russ in his entire career.
You make excellent points, Samuel. I agree the entire offense bears some responsibility, but I also think those contributing aspects are symptoms, and not the cause(s) of a stuttering offense. I think a huge cause is the “communication” angle, because the lack of it seems to be affecting the timing, trust, and chemistry on the offensive side of the ball. At the beginning of the season, much ado was made that Denver would run the offense designed and desired by Wilson, giving him a lot of control. Seems to be tension between Hackett’s communication and Wilson’s communication. I think Denver needs to examine who is actually in charge of the offense, and if it’s not the head coach, should probably revisit their pre-season approach.
Even Benjamin Allbright wouldn't say that Polumbus was wrong. He said there is truth to that claim. It's kind of sad to see Russ struggle like this. As a Seattle fan high picks are great but I hope Russ can rebound from this.
@@thefreshexpress8615 well that's a shit reason for a Seattle fan. Luckily that's not what the op's answer is to my question. Idk if u r a Seattle fan or not fresh, but from a Seattle fan standpoint, we literally have 0 good reasons to wish him success this year. I would argue this year and into the future but this year especially. The worse he does the better pick the Seahawks get and yes high picks are GREAT. The way he forced his way out of town, talking shit the whole way out makes me not want to root for him ever again. That is just how I feel though
So as I suspected the problem isn't just Russ. Offensive line struggling, can't run the ball, receivers dropping passes, coach doesn't know what to do. But no surprise everyone piles on Russ.
Everyone is talking like Wilson is playing different this year but the past two seasons with the Hawks he played the exact same. Total garbage. Denver did not do their homework and paid him big. Some people should prob get fired. As a Seahawks fan, thanks for taking him and making the Seahawks into a super team!
I've been watching Russell Wilson for a long time and I agree with what a lot of the video says. Russ seems to for whatever reason been falling into one of the major issues that Dak Prescott (yes I am a Cowboys lifetime fan) has had and is slowly getting better at: Slow release time. That coupled with missing the short receivers is basically giving defenses everything they need to counter. Daring a quarterback to beat them with TECMO bowl plays coming into a system where the QB/WR trust isn't there (and may never be), is not a recipe for success. My wife brought up an interesting point too, seeing as she lived in the Denver area for a long time: You can't really come into Denver with a superstar attitude and not completely ball out, because Broncos fans are absolutely BRUTAL (her words, not mine). So if you need a fan base to adore you to feel confident, then this doesn't bode well. Of course it isn't all his fault, the offense there has issues from top to bottom, but it is what it is.
Seahawks weren't suppose to even think about playoffs. They are 6-5. Last time it happened was in 2012 when Manning era ended that year, but thanks to Andrew Luck, they made a playoffs. Geno Smith 1st year in Seattle is having a career year.
After the last Superbowl, he's been waning. Less running, the O-Line wasn't protecting him enough, and he's been holding onto the ball too long at times? I've been seeing him going downhill, and I'm glad he's been traded. His sense of urgency isn't there as much, and as a Seahawk Fan, I'm glad he's gone. I can't believe Denver paid so much for him? Wow!
Just watched the 2020 game against the Patriots. You can see in it Russ hits all kinds of reads - short, intermediate, and deep. He scanned the field thoroughly and made the right read. A few times he got sacked and that might be him misreading the stunts - but they were sparing. He looked like a complete QB that game. What is so wrong about now? TL;DR: Russ is capable, he just needs the right relationships with the player and chemistry and needs the right headspace to play like his old self. I think it’s due to chemistry and rhythm. Russ got into a good rhythm early in the game and he complete quick passes on a timely schedule. Each play he got it out in 2-3 seconds. He even checked all his reads through it. Once he got through the first set of plays, he looked comfortable and continued to play like that all game long. However, this rhythm can only be achieved if there’s chemistry. Getting out the correct quick, short passes require chemistry and knowing where each others’ feels are. This requires a lot of practice. I feel like the Broncos need this first year to get comfortable with each other. Now, the reads are off. Russ isn’t going through all of them in a timely manner. Sometimes he’s too quick, sometimes he takes too long, and sometimes he flat out ignores them. I don’t know if it is because he thinks it’s because his past receivers will be in a certain spot because of habit, or it’s because of trust issues, or if it’s because of personal issues that are clouding his mind. Referring to @SamuelGoldNFL’s reply to one comment below, Russ is playing in an offense similar to one he’s played in before - Schottenheimer’s. This is the same one that played against the Patriots. Russ can find the right read, Russ can play in a short, quick game offense, Russ can be a great, capable QB. He just needs the right relationships and mindset. Both of which are lacking right now.
I think the problems is on whoever made the decision to make Wilson a pocket QB. At hawks he was a run and gun. Some say it is Wilson that asked to be a pocket QB. Plus Metcalf and Lockett are the best WRs duo in NFL
Only thing for certain about Wilson's agility is how fast he got Denver to go to the bank for him. Elway made bank selling new cars in Denver. Wilson should open a real estate office and sell swamp land in Texas or somewhere.
RW3 is getting hit too often again. Quote 'it can't get any worse" it will because we have seen a drift away from the HC play scheme to a RW3 scheme. The short gain and percentage plays to the big long plays. RW3 is going to have a very bad game soon unless a scheme is found that works. I too have watched RW3 all his career and love watching him play. He did himself no favors with the way he landed in Denver and left himself open to critics. I also think that the HC will be gone if they lose to the raiders. HC has had more than the time reqd to fix issues and nothing tangible has worked. Thank God for the defense.
I notice you kept saying that he makes up for his mistakes on the field with big plays, but the question not being asked is how much of the credit for those big plays can be attributed to the WR instead of Wilson. It’s easy to look like the hero when you have WRs like Lockett/Metcalf to bail you out on deep throws and bafore that it was Harvin and Baldwin.
@@marcdematteo1984 not just picks, we got a pretty sweet deal plus we didn't sacrifice the cap space. I'm content with what we got, all things considered.
Four things seem to have affected Wilson this year: 1) less mobile; 2) worse coaching; 3) no strong running game; 4) lost his edge/wining attitude with mega contract. He is now a below average QB--closer to a 2nd string than elite. Worse trade in NFL history.
Bro it's about chemistry if you took title lock in and put him on the Broncos Russell Wilson will still be doing what he's doing in Seattle him and Tyler Lockett had a bond like no other, and it sounds like the team is giving up on them so he's not getting much help
He is a system QB, take him out of the system and he sucks. Pete Carroll was a genius covering up his flaws and made him look better than what he really was. This is why a bad QB like Geno Smith is looking like an MVP caliber QB. The Broncos gave up a lot and what they got was fool's gold.
Russ might have some games here and there if the D they are playing doesn’t do what every team has been. Russ was the problem in Seattle. Imagine what they could have done with a diff QB after 2013.
All the short QB's have to get out of the pocket to see downfield. If you keep them in the pocket they cant see down the middle. Easy enogh to work out after a while. They are just catching up with him now.
He's similar too Big Ben. Great when the play breaks down but never really was the type to pick a part a defense. Gets old can't extend the play like they used to, deep ball starts to fall off.
I think Russell Wilson feels he is a great pocket passer, but in reality he just is not. He should go back to doing the thing that made him great in the past.
Except he's lost the ability to scramble like he once could. He knows he'd be likely to get injured that way. He's always been smart about taking chances with his body. He knew how to slide and step out of bounds. He was just faster and more agile. Having lost much of that, he's less inclined to take off outside the pocket. My sense is he needs a great run game to offset the lost mobility. The Broncos don't have that this year.
@@Parallax982 Well he needs to work harder to gain the speed and mobility he needs to be successful. Before you say that can't be done just look at 44 year old Tom Brady, he is faster and more agile than when he was a rookie, still slow, but the improvement can be made with hard work.
I don’t see the issue so far, 😊Denver has done everything I wanted from them. They beat the 49ers which no matter how bad Russel is he always seems to do which is glorious, they are likely to get a top 10 pick for the Seahawks and they are making Pete Caroll look even more like a genius. I’d say as a Seahawks fan Denver is doing great!
It 100% happens is because he can't throw across the middle because he is to short. So when he misses that instead of stepping up in the pocket he drops back and tries to bootleg out and his line doesn't know where he is so they get holding calls that are also 100% Wilson's fault
After seeing Wilson for the second time yesterday I don’t think Russ is the problem honestly. Yes he has regressed but He can be successful in the right offense. The play calling is horrible and every route is designed to get 15+ yards. The best offenses in the NFL have patience unlike the Broncos. It doesn’t make it better that Russ can’t see over the Injured O-Line either. Also If Sean Payton comes back to the NFL next season the Cardinals should hire him and trade for Russ. Cardinals are the perfect team for him with the weapons they have. They could even trade K1 for more assets.
I’m not gonna lie like yes the third downs were bad and the holding onto ball too long as well. But I’m shook at how the games are seriously going. Like I didn’t think it be like that. I think I’m just shook because they said all they needed was that missing piece, which was quarterback. And now we watch and it’s like what’s going on? What do they need?! Is it the play calling? Does it make sense to call that play? I’m sure russ would say “hey why we calling that play?” Shoot I don’t know what it is. But what really kills me is why tf they still got Gordon with the ball? It’s like they move on to the next game and still he fumble. Ain’t no way.
Russell WIlson was coddled in seattle, even after the superbowl interception he was coddled and that pissed off a lot of the team because Pete's mantra was always compete and hold yourself accountable to improve. Instead Wilson deluded himself that he was some mahomes-esque level qb that needed to be allowed to cook, when he wasn't cerebral enough for that. His best weapon was his legs allowing him to scramble and open up the street ball big plays. His legs are slowing down, they aren't miserable yet, but not good enough to punish well disciplined and faster DEs. He's never been good with progressions and his ability to scramble is fading, this is exactly what you'd expect to happen knowing that. As far as the accuracy and stuff, that can also be in his head as he deals with the realization that he isn't an elite level qb and that he got keyser soze'd the whole time.
They would be 9-1 if they scored 18(!) points a game, stat from Nick Wright. I love it!!! Always hated the broncos, all the way back to elway. Did love that rb David Terrell? I think. Of course I got nothing but respect for the big homie Shannon Sharpe, but otha than Unc, FUNK the PONIES
A lot of routes here with not a lot of guys open, and almost no time to throw. A lot of blame to go around here. He didn't magically become a bottom tier QB.
Russell has been a great quarterback but something changed the last 3-4 years. I think he lost his football only focus and is divided between making top $$, business, family and football. Nothing wrong with that but it will be tough for him to turn it around.
His name is still Russell Wilson so we think he is the Russell Wilson of our memories. He is not. He is “short, fat and old Russell Wilson who don’t wanna get hit” at the present moment. Most of those flaws: short, fat, old and don’t wanna get hit isn’t fixable. Considering his cap hit and real money cost the Denver Broncos is in the Russell Wilson business until 2026. And business ain’t boomin’. “2026: Things so bad they can only get better!” will be the slogan. JoM
Don't worry, Denver has the Rams last in the season, surely they'll recover and Wilson will put up a legendary performance. there's no way Wilson puts up a 3.6 QBR or throws 2 ints his first 3 pass attempts 🤣🤣
as much as the offensive struggles in denver are because of russ, our wrs, rbs, and oline look worse from last year, and theirs way more injuries. I think we still need a new HC regardless of Russ's problems.
Wow how Russell has fallen off. I personally think after all the years in Seattle with the worst offensive line is catching up w him. Leading the league in sacks takes its toll physically and mentally. He scrambles around and panics even in clean pockets like he has sack PTSD. Also his finger injury last year is serious. I had the same injury, and you lose feeling and slight ability to grip with that finger. With nfl games typically won in the margins this is a big deal.
@@ronskullie9380I agree a part of the problem was definitely Russell’s play style. However when year over year you have the highest paid defense, and the lowest paid offense line (which was statically shown to be in the bottom quarter of the league every year) its becomes a major part of the issue. It wasn’t just evident in Russell scrambling for his life 50% of the time but also when Marshawn Lynch had to shed multiple tacklers just to get 3 yard’s every play.
@@Seththebot the reason why I'm putting most of the blame on Russ, is because I'm seeing the same pattern fr Seattle too many 3 and out,and that's the same thing he's doing in Denver,so is the problem the Denver o-line know.

People don't talk above about how his height affects him. He's done very well to compensate for that in the past with his legs, but the success got to his head.
Totally agree. Every year since about 2014, he's gotten heavier & slower.
Russ leaves and, to save his own a$$, Pete finally listens to his shots and drafts the nation’s top O-Lineman to protect Geno, who is still a second-tier WB despite looking better this year than anyone expected.
If anything, he got faster.
half the time he just threw it up and had Metcaff Lockett or Baldwin bail him out
Born and raised Seattle local, I can tell you it's one simple thing: his legs.
What would have happened if Penny was injured along with Carson? we will never know
With the exception of last year Wilson had very good seasons lmao
You lost me at Wilson and putting his ego in check. He is the biggest egomaniac in the league
he doesn't have baldwin and lockett to bail him out on broken plays anymore.
And Doug Baldwin, in earlier days.
such a bullshit excuse.
He was holding back Seahawks offense for a while
Under Bevell, the offense would struggle for 3 quarters. Under Schottenheimer, the offense scored early.
I don't think any of those guys were with the team when they won the superbowl though

I saw a clip of Wilson getting sacked and two of his o linemen didn't even attempt to help him up. Feels like a team that has given up on him already.
Some people are Early bloomers, as is Russ, but now he's washed up.
Wilson’s problem the last couple of years has been that he doesn’t want the check down plays he wants the deep ball on every down
I 100 percent agree.
Really?
His ego wants to be a hero so bad
Checkdowns are for pussies.
I think NFL defenses have just figured out Russell and his running play style. They also took away his sideline throws too.
I have a source in the organization who is telling me Russ has been playing through an undisclosed case of ligma but the Broncos aren’t letting the info become public so as to not cause a panic
What's ligma
Excellent comment, I agree fully.
@@kingsofthegridiron LOL the truth hurt your feelings
@@furiogiunta7886 The Seahawks are not a great team. Pretty average. Geno has always had some raw talent, and they play decent complimentary football.

Once you go Hawk you never go BAWK
Lmao
Seahawks weren't suppose to even think about playoffs. They are 6-5. Last time it happened was in 2012 when Manning era ended that year, but thanks to Andrew Luck, they made a playoffs. Geno Smith 1st year in Seattle is having a career year.
When R. Wilson was the Seahawks QB he made plenty of ESPN highlights and also 3 and outs. That about sum his Seahawks career.
These are the results of when you don't invest in an offensive line and a true RB1 IT'S KIND OF A BIG DEAL IN THIS MODERN DAY NFL💯❗ #diehardBroncosfan
Wow!
My firm belief is, Wilson is missing Metcalf and Lockett. They managed to break coverage when he scrambled and covered up some bad throws.
Down year + Outrageous expectations + Wrong Head Coach
Only thing for certain about Wilson's agility is how fast he got Denver to go to the bank for him.
Elway made bank selling new cars in Denver. Wilson should open a real estate office and sell swamp land in Texas or somewhere.
moar liek fake estate amirite
said it all offseason when Bronco fans were hyping themselves. a 7-9 QB joining a 7-9 team doesn't equal a playoff contender.
O line 1 and consistent route running 2. Those receivers aren’t timing right.
He's at a point in his career where getting paid and his future health is more important than winning today at any cost.
what does that have to do with not seeing an open receiver. His issues aren't because he's not hustling out there lol

Cant believe we're locked into a contract with this scrub for 4 more years at the least
Four things seem to have affected Wilson this year: 1) less mobile; 2) worse coaching; 3) no strong running game; 4) lost his edge/wining attitude with mega contract. He is now a below average QB--closer to a 2nd string than elite. Worse trade in NFL history.
The play you say he missed Dulcich you’re not looking at his line of sight. The lineman is in his face he can’t even see to his left.
Perhaps he was over rated instead of under rated all along.
1:40 cmon. His Oline is a sieve.
Russ might have some games here and there if the D they are playing doesn’t do what every team has been. Russ was the problem in Seattle. Imagine what they could have done with a diff QB after 2013.
I see myself in Russell i left the job im comfortable in to chase the big bag and i got it, now look at me stressed and depressed 🤣🔫

Wow some incredible retroactive predictions here in the comments
How high are you?
His teammates hate him. Lots of animosity when he got that contract and is a bust.
All the clips i noticed he isnt putting himself into his throws as much anymore.. a lot of back foot and just muscling it.. odd
By the time he figures out he can't pass from the pocket, he'll go back to use his legs and they'll be gone. He's fucked himself for good
They would be 9-1 if they scored 18(!) points a game, stat from Nick Wright. I love it!!! Always hated the broncos, all the way back to elway. Did love that rb David Terrell? I think. Of course I got nothing but respect for the big homie Shannon Sharpe, but otha than Unc, FUNK the PONIES
I think they have the ugliest shade of both orange and blue and that's hard to do... lol
Thank god Russell is Denver's problem and not Seattle's.
Offensive lines can’t block for a shrimp QB that can’t see over their OL and is always scrambling just to be able to see downfield
A lot of routes here with not a lot of guys open, and almost no time to throw. A lot of blame to go around here. He didn't magically become a bottom tier QB.
until I see him with good coaching, I will not write off russ.
Russell has been a great quarterback but something changed the last 3-4 years. I think he lost his football only focus and is divided between making top $$, business, family and football. Nothing wrong with that but it will be tough for him to turn it around.
#letsrideCURSE is REAL and Russ has nobody to blame but himself! Lol enjoy your time in Denver RUSS!!!
Hrs doesn't see the whole field all the time
He slowed down while never learning how to read a defense and then drop back. End of Story.
What's broncos offense? 🤔 I never heard of that term
Look at my boy jimmy on that turnover chart lol
as much as the offensive struggles in denver are because of russ, our wrs, rbs, and oline look worse from last year, and theirs way more injuries. I think we still need a new HC regardless of Russ's problems.
What happened? He lost Pete Carroll lol that’s kinda it
What happened to Russell Wilson? The same thing that happened to Peyton Manning and every other QB, he got old.
Don't pick on Russ. Let's pick on Russ!
How do you not address the fact he can’t throw down the middle like a normal qb dude can’t see over the line
Let him ride bronco’s country to the ground. Gimmie them picks 😈🫴🏼
How you going to ask for a like and subscribe before the content is even delivered. What if I don’t like the content.. remind me after the video
too short and has slowed down
He can't throw we can't catch or block
Wow how Russell has fallen off. I personally think after all the years in Seattle with the worst offensive line is catching up w him. Leading the league in sacks takes its toll physically and mentally. He scrambles around and panics even in clean pockets like he has sack PTSD. Also his finger injury last year is serious. I had the same injury, and you lose feeling and slight ability to grip with that finger. With nfl games typically won in the margins this is a big deal.
The on-line wasn't the problem it was Russ holding the ball to long, because he's afraid to pass the ball into the middle of the field.
@@ronskullie9380 exactly !
@@ronskullie9380according to Sam’s video, yes Denver’s offensive line is part of the problem.
Gotta wash your rice bro!!
ok so he is not playing good right now, cool maybe he will get better, maybe he wont. But all the hate he is getting specially from seahwak fans is just crap! Everyone on Genos nuts now, but why didnt pete put geno in 2 years ago or last year to replace russ if he is so much better
Cause welcome to the real world. You don't start your backup when you are paying a guy 30 million a year. What you do is sucker a team into giving everything up for him.
@@johnnyblazers ookkaayy
@@Hi...957 😂😂
He hasn’t been good for a long time.
He got older and did not grow taller
Never was an elite QB, threw that INT in the Super Bowl, then played with two banged up knees one year .The system he’s in , is amateur in design. Let’s see, what else, blah blah blah. Oh yeah, then there’s Ciara, got him weak in the knees, his two bad knees 🤣
What happened is Hackett!!?
Slow down and enunciate Mr. Gold. You actually skip words.
