I have three cats, and they are babies. I react to them like others do to their children. Even when my babies are being assholes, I still love them and only want what's best for them.
I do the same. Even with my cat (R.I.P.) who always looked like she was plotting my death, only smiling when she suffocated me with her big fat body. My dog will chew up my most favorite things and trick me into thinking she needs outside when she doesn't...(So there's always wasted time getting all dressed up).
The most amazing thing about this couple is how they interact: they don’t compete, they respect each other, they don’t contradict each other, when they question why they do/did something the other isn’t offended rather they discuss logically and rationally, they compromise, they seem to agree on several aspects of their Desires..they don’t put themselves first. It is a pleasure to watch.

Jun is correct about the elevated bowl. Cats can get arthritis in their backs and elbows, making it uncomfortable to bend down like they have to when their food and water is floor level. My vet recommended that we raise my cat's bowls up on a small stack of books so he would eat and drink better. It also just helps with swallowing.
We've noticed the same thing having raised cats since I was 12 (I'm now 50). If they're fat or old, having raised dishes is the way to go. A water fountain is also a plus as they get older as it entices them to drink more often.
Sara Fimm I noticed that, too. I got one of those bubbler water dishes and my cat loved it. He loved looking at himself in the bathroom mirror, (he was a handsome guy and he knew it). When I put the bubbler dish on the bathroom vanity so he could drink AND stare into the mirror, it became one of his favorite spots. He was 19 years old and he just died two days before this past Christmas. The elevated food and water dishes helped out a lot over the last several years.

Yeah we have 8 cats and when they come inside to eat, they do this whole "musical food bowl" thing where they just go round and round in circles eating the neighboring cats food. I add very warm water into their food too to get them to drink more. It actually makes the kitchen smell really good. My husband has asked me several times what I'm making. "just the cats breakfast" "well dang"

We got our cats a big water bowl with a rubber bottom so it wouldn't slide on the tile floor. The metal bowl was of course reflective and my older cat would stand in the water and attack his reflection making a massive mess so we had to get a different one, ended up with a fountain
The elevated bowls are the best! My kitty kept throwing up and it worried me; took her to the vet and they said she was very healthy, but maybe had a sensitive stomach. I bought her food for a sensitive stomach, and while that did make a difference, she still threw up. Once I bought her elevated food and water bowls, she hasn't thrown up a single time in years. It's definitely a great investment for kitties. ^^
@@NataliaHerrera-ul4gq if you cant find them, an easy hack is to just put one or two books under normal bowls. Like this you can adjust the level. If you are afraid that the bowls will fall off, you could just glue them to the books

Something I learned a while back- in the wild, cats are scavengers! This means that they don’t like drinking water that’s right next to their food unless there’s no other options. I was worried about our cats not drinking enough; so, we moved the water into another room. Total change! Now they actually sit down and drink for minutes at a time. You only really need to move the water a meter away from the food to instantly improve their drinking habits.

I was happy when Poki got to play too :) Poki may be the most annoying but he's also the least spoiled, he doesn't need special bowls and he'll play with both Nagi's and Haku's toy! Same! Here where I live the pet stores have a shit ton of games and stuff for dogs but only a tiny section for cats. It makes me so sad as I love cats and also have one and only have a small selection to choose from.
Even when trying to shop online it's hard to find this neat of stuff unless you know where to look. I just bought a bunch of stuff to attempt to make my own cat toys but I'm so jealous of that dragonfly! My cat would die for that toy.

Yeah my cats have a toy box with all these toys, and they play with the random of things, like a hair tie, or things that are not in their toy box. One of my cats stole a stress ball from me and it's now her toy. Caught her kneeding it on the floor once lol!
It makes sense if you think about it in another way. Most cats like their owners and things like a hair tier or a stress ball pretty much smells pretty intense of you. Also you are "playing" with these tings because you are giving there things your attention. So the cat tries it too. And you give the Cats more attention if they steal something from you. So there are a few reasons for these behaviour ^^"

I found that cats love free stuff better than store bought toys.: twisty ties off of bread, old shoe laces, the plastic lids off of milk containers; etc.
My roommates cat we had to put water in his food to force him to drink more. However we found out that he LOVES a water fountain. Won't drink from a standing bowl but he'll drink from a fountain. We got him a Catit Flower Water Fountain so he can choose lick off the surface or from a trickle. And it's heavy enough his lard butt can't tip it over.
Same with one of my cats. She also eats her food 1 biscuit at a time, taking it out the bowl and putting it on the floor and eating it. She's so unecessarily extra lol.

We have! They did like it but they're really hard to keep clean. Eventually no matter how much we cleaned it SOMETHING on it was turning Haku away and he wouldn't use it anymore.
I fill my cats fountain with filtered or bottled water. I’ve not had a problem unless I went more than 6 weeks without a filter change and then the filter smelled weird and a little scum was building up in the reservoir. Now I know not to wait that long.
@@wheeliegirl1630 Depending on the type of fountain, it may be possible to rinse out the filters when you clean the bowl normally, extending their usefulness a bit, but you'll usually want to change filters every three weeks or so. My cat liked drinking from her fountain, and when I stopped using plastic fountains and switched to ceramic or stainless steel, they made a lot less noise.
@@wheeliegirl1630 I think it's the (saliva) scum that's the problem. The filter just isn't good enough. Not "industrial" enough--especially when you have multiple cats. If only the fountain parts could be run through the dishwasher or if the parts were easily replaceable by recycling something like a litre or two litre water bottle it would be great. I've always looked at my 60 gallon aquarium and wondered if there was a way to use that filtration system for a cat fountain. At least it would have enough water for a while! :)
Cats are finicky? I'm shocked. 😹 My kitty was so picky it wasn't funny. I bought this expensive gift and she wouldn't touch it. Then one day someone wadded up a piece of paper and threw it on the floor, and he went racing after it. From that day on she liked paper balls. She liked the red dot too; the laser dot. And she loved cat dancers: that's what the feathers on a stick are called.

Do you keep their water away from where you feed them? Cats instinctively don't like to have water from where their food usually goes because in the wild, food near a water source would contaminate it. Might help- most of the cats who I've advised this for have doubled their water intake after the bowl was moved to a new location :D
Ah this makes so much sense! We have several bowls of water in the house and my cat never drinks from the one at her feeding spot. Thanks, I learned something today!

I was about to comment this lol. My cat wouldn't seem to drink water out of her bowl that sits right next to her food. Then one day for whatever reason I put another bowl of water out in a different room away from her food and I noticed her often drinking from that one. I also noticed she only drank water from her double feeding bowl when her food bowl was completely empty. That's when I decided to Google it and found the info about most cats not liking to drink water that's right next to their food bowl.
@@flamepool5309 There will always be exceptions to evolutionary norms, but most cats instinctively prefer water that's not stored near a food source- again, because a source of food, stored near a water source, would contaminate the water, so it's a survival instinct :) I'd only worry about it if your cat isn't drinking enough water- but you still may find their water intake increases if you move the bowl away from the food :) It's also possible that in certain areas or certain breeds from certain areas there was less concern for historical cat populations about water source contamination, say cat breeds which came from particularly watery areas with plenty of fresh spring sources or who hunted small prey consumed immediately rather than large prey with carcasses that needed dealing with after.
Your babies are so cute! Thank you for sharing this. I have a water fountain for pets and my cats love drinking from it. It comes with a filter and a tank so the water is always fresh. I love that they give paws. Adorable! I have a cat that sits and recently sitting up on his hind legs for treats. We always tease and say he’s a dog instead of a cat.
I hate that!! I live in America and have 6 cat babies and whenever I buy things for them, there is like 2 or 3 cat toys to pick from and the rest is dog stuff. It sucks :(
@@daydreams6956 also in one of the nearest pet smart, not only is the dog section big, but strategically placed on the right side, closer to the door where you absolutely have no choice but to see all the dog stuff when you walk in. 90% of people will start on the right. While in this particular store the cat section is still fairly big (for a change) the isles containing all of that are put at the opposite side and the corner of the store. Luckily the cat towers give away where the cat stuff is - you'll be lucky to see it, but I always found it strange and amusing how the cat related things are almost always next to the birds and fish. This placement is not only done in pet stores but I've noticed it in Wal-Mart and grocery stores too.
You guys need to buy a cat fountain! I use CatMate. Then your cat(s) can choose to drink from the edges or the actual bowl. The one I have has an upper and lower level. My cat never drank much before, but she loves her fountain and is constantly drinking from it!
Love the happy cat reaction to the new toys. My youngest boy loves to drag around the stick toy with a feathered tail at the end. He will drag it around everywhere especially if he wants to play. I buy them in bulk at my local dollar store. Also cat mom tip for getting water in your cats: Feed them some canned wet food or if price permitting some canned tuna in water. I feed my two boys one meal of wet food three times a week and have a great protein based dry food with multiple water bowls that i change with fresh cold water 3 times a day.

Same! Here where I live the pet stores have a shit ton of games and stuff for dogs but only a tiny section for cats. It makes me so sad as I love cats and also have one and only have a small selection to choose from.
Even when trying to shop online it's hard to find this neat of stuff unless you know where to look. I just bought a bunch of stuff to attempt to make my own cat toys but I'm so jealous of that dragonfly! My cat would die for that toy.

I love how consistently enamored Rachel is about how "cute" the cats are. I'm pretty sure she calls them cute several times in pretty much every video. XD
Yeah my cats have a toy box with all these toys, and they play with the random of things, like a hair tie, or things that are not in their toy box. One of my cats stole a stress ball from me and it's now her toy. Caught her kneeding it on the floor once lol!
i always found my hair tie under the couch and when i need hair tie my cats like bring me they always now what i need 😅😅😆😆
It makes sense if you think about it in another way. Most cats like their owners and things like a hair tier or a stress ball pretty much smells pretty intense of you. Also you are "playing" with these tings because you are giving there things your attention. So the cat tries it too. And you give the Cats more attention if they steal something from you. So there are a few reasons for these behaviour ^^"

I found that cats love free stuff better than store bought toys.: twisty ties off of bread, old shoe laces, the plastic lids off of milk containers; etc.

My roommates cat we had to put water in his food to force him to drink more. However we found out that he LOVES a water fountain. Won't drink from a standing bowl but he'll drink from a fountain. We got him a Catit Flower Water Fountain so he can choose lick off the surface or from a trickle. And it's heavy enough his lard butt can't tip it over.
Same with one of my cats. She also eats her food 1 biscuit at a time, taking it out the bowl and putting it on the floor and eating it. She's so unecessarily extra lol.
haha just seeing Nagi play reminds me why I got a Norwegian forest cat, except my cat is still 8 months old -and she does back flips o_o

We have! They did like it but they're really hard to keep clean. Eventually no matter how much we cleaned it SOMETHING on it was turning Haku away and he wouldn't use it anymore.
I fill my cats fountain with filtered or bottled water. I’ve not had a problem unless I went more than 6 weeks without a filter change and then the filter smelled weird and a little scum was building up in the reservoir. Now I know not to wait that long.
@@wheeliegirl1630 Depending on the type of fountain, it may be possible to rinse out the filters when you clean the bowl normally, extending their usefulness a bit, but you'll usually want to change filters every three weeks or so.
My cat liked drinking from her fountain, and when I stopped using plastic fountains and switched to ceramic or stainless steel, they made a lot less noise.
@@wheeliegirl1630 I think it's the (saliva) scum that's the problem. The filter just isn't good enough. Not "industrial" enough--especially when you have multiple cats. If only the fountain parts could be run through the dishwasher or if the parts were easily replaceable by recycling something like a litre or two litre water bottle it would be great. I've always looked at my 60 gallon aquarium and wondered if there was a way to use that filtration system for a cat fountain. At least it would have enough water for a while! :)

And she loved cat dancers: that's what the feathers on a stick are called.

Do you keep their water away from where you feed them? Cats instinctively don't like to have water from where their food usually goes because in the wild, food near a water source would contaminate it. Might help- most of the cats who I've advised this for have doubled their water intake after the bowl was moved to a new location :D
Ah this makes so much sense! We have several bowls of water in the house and my cat never drinks from the one at her feeding spot. Thanks, I learned something today!

I was about to comment this lol. My cat wouldn't seem to drink water out of her bowl that sits right next to her food. Then one day for whatever reason I put another bowl of water out in a different room away from her food and I noticed her often drinking from that one. I also noticed she only drank water from her double feeding bowl when her food bowl was completely empty. That's when I decided to Google it and found the info about most cats not liking to drink water that's right next to their food bowl.

@@flamepool5309 There will always be exceptions to evolutionary norms, but most cats instinctively prefer water that's not stored near a food source- again, because a source of food, stored near a water source, would contaminate the water, so it's a survival instinct :) I'd only worry about it if your cat isn't drinking enough water- but you still may find their water intake increases if you move the bowl away from the food :) It's also possible that in certain areas or certain breeds from certain areas there was less concern for historical cat populations about water source contamination, say cat breeds which came from particularly watery areas with plenty of fresh spring sources or who hunted small prey consumed immediately rather than large prey with carcasses that needed dealing with after.

Your babies are so cute! Thank you for sharing this. I have a water fountain for pets and my cats love drinking from it. It comes with a filter and a tank so the water is always fresh. I love that they give paws. Adorable! I have a cat that sits and recently sitting up on his hind legs for treats. We always tease and say he’s a dog instead of a cat.

What can I say, Japan really loves themselves some nekos.
I hate that!! I live in America and have 6 cat babies and whenever I buy things for them, there is like 2 or 3 cat toys to pick from and the rest is dog stuff. It sucks :(

@@daydreams6956 also in one of the nearest pet smart, not only is the dog section big, but strategically placed on the right side, closer to the door where you absolutely have no choice but to see all the dog stuff when you walk in. 90% of people will start on the right. While in this particular store the cat section is still fairly big (for a change) the isles containing all of that are put at the opposite side and the corner of the store. Luckily the cat towers give away where the cat stuff is - you'll be lucky to see it, but I always found it strange and amusing how the cat related things are almost always next to the birds and fish. This placement is not only done in pet stores but I've noticed it in Wal-Mart and grocery stores too.

You guys need to buy a cat fountain! I use CatMate. Then your cat(s) can choose to drink from the edges or the actual bowl. The one I have has an upper and lower level. My cat never drank much before, but she loves her fountain and is constantly drinking from it!

Love the happy cat reaction to the new toys. My youngest boy loves to drag around the stick toy with a feathered tail at the end. He will drag it around everywhere especially if he wants to play. I buy them in bulk at my local dollar store. Also cat mom tip for getting water in your cats: Feed them some canned wet food or if price permitting some canned tuna in water. I feed my two boys one meal of wet food three times a week and have a great protein based dry food with multiple water bowls that i change with fresh cold water 3 times a day.
