I agree with you, it is a truly Irish tradition to celebrate someone’s life this way. It is a tradition that was opposed by Rome in the years following the famine, who then instructed the church leaders in Ireland to suppress it along with much of Irish tradition and culture, replacing it under the “devotional revolution”. It included suppressing Irish dancing, making it stiff and upright instead of its natural expression of joy. That ladies and gentlemen is how you send off a true Irish legend ❤
It was hard to listen to this and not shed a tear, It really pulled on the heart strings, Christmas just wont be the same now both Shane and Kirsty are gone, but on Christmas morning you can bet everyone In the country will be belting this song out and Shane and Kirsty will be looking down on us. God bless you Shane and Kirsty thank you for giving the world the best ever Christmas song 🙏🙏🙏🎤🪕🥁🎹
Where can we buy this version for Shane’s favourite charity? Love, love, love the Lisa O’Neill authentic Irish vocal and the instrumental bit at the end. The combined age of the musicians must be about 300. God bless ‘em. Hope enough young people are learning from them to keep the traditional music alive. RIP Shane. ❤️
Incredible rendition of a classic song, the irony of Shane passing in December, and having his funeral at this time of year, which in turn led to this amazing performance is not lost, a sad time, but if theres a silver lining in every cloud it's that. this will now become my go to version of the song at Christmas Time.
Omg.
My eyes are crying.
This is absolutely amazing.
R.i.p sir❤
God got to be loving this, RIP legend Shane.
This funeral is a milestone in the history of human beeing as well as in the history of music(ians) of "modern" (???) times. Well deserved - it's unbeatable masterclass to connect pain of loss to fun for millions. Thanks for you being always yourself in our artificial world! Have a nice flight, sir❤😢❤
Absolutely brilliant. What a great send off and what a marvelous rendition of this song. Well done Glen Hansard and Lisa O'Neil. ❤
Brilliant song and Lisa's voice is amazing
That was outstanding. What a tribute
What a way to go out!
This will certainly go down in folklore as the best ever, thank you Shane, God bless you 🙏
Well done, Glen and Lisa and all the players assembled. Especially happy to see John Sheahan playing his whistle. Nice ceremony to say goodbye. God rest Shane's soul.
Long after we're all gone, the world will still be listening to the music of the Pogues and this song. This warmed my soul. Goodnight Shane MacGowan and thank you for and thank you for your awesomeness!
Así se abren las puertas del cielo,r.i.p
Qué maravilla
Una parte de nosotros se va con él.
Damn, that was so incredibly moving, I am in tears here. THIS is how you celebrate a life! God bless you, Shane & Kirsty ❤❤❤
Didn’t think I’d be starting Saturday with tears today. Wonderful rendition for a great songwriter. ❤️
