**I was very hesitant to post this video. I prefer to only have GOOD things to say about golf courses I share.
Here are a few of my thoughts on the golf course:
1. Royal Woodbine is a beautiful, scenic golf course.
2. Golf course staff are all very friendly.
3. Fully booked on weekends and some wait time on each hole.
4. It is tricky and challenging for sure! Definitely not a course I would recommend for beginners. If you are not familiar with the course layout, it can be very frustrating to play.
5. You'll have to club down from the tee box on quite a few holes.
6. The bunkers are dry and full of rocks (when we played couple weeks ago). It's best not to run your clubs through the "sand" if there are pebbles inside. 7. Overgrown hazards.
7. In my honest opinion, it is a bit overpriced. Worth a try if you enjoy the golf course style!!

$135 for slanted tee boxes? Wow. They are a pet peeve of mine. Looking forward to your next video :-)
For $135 dollars better off going to glen abbey for $100 (non twilight but weekday rate) with included range and cart. Osprey is around $120 and much better too but its gotten pretty pricey now as well. Woodbine is still a narrow but fun course that i enjoy playing. Just that the value isn’t there. The course used to be worth going at twilight pre covid when it was 50 dollars with cart. I feel like with inflation and the rise of covid golfers, green fees are so expensive nowadays.
Love the addition of the emojis on the holes! Something unique that other youtube golfers don’t do.
Greens fees have gone up! although with lots more golfers, courses are booked up and backed up even with higher prices.
Subbed. Nice vibes and good commentary!
It's interesting to see the courses there and how much they cost compared to Australia. I really enjoy all your course vlogs and looking forward to seeing more ❤
Thank you! Out of curiosity, how much are public golf courses in Australia these days? I imagine $100 can you on some VERY nice golf courses! ⛳
Glad I saw this- it looks like a pretty shabby course. I can think of at least four other courses in the area that appear to be better maintained. I'll cross this one off my list- thanks for giving us the tour!
Glad I could help! And yes, for the same price range, there are much more enjoyable and better maintained courses in the area.
love the video, haven't played there in about 6 years. It"s a target golf course, you need to place your ball on most holes. You use to be able to find deals all the time 2 for one or even $55 a round. First round I ever played there I shot 88 and only hit driver 3 times the whole round.
Yeah 🤣 I would instinctively pull out driver and then realize there's another hazard
Having played that course i think its way over priced! love the vids of the courses in the gta having played some of the ones you post and some i want to play after seeing how you show the course in your videos! awsome work
@ the 11:37 mark, wow....I've never seen that before. Can't believe how well it came out of the sand.
That's because the sand was concrete 😂
I play here all the time as I get a discount because my brother-in-law owns the two event venues located on the course. If you pay regular price it is a bit steep, but that's what happens when you a play a course that's located in the city.
You kind of hit the nail on the head. If you miss your spots, your in trouble as there is lot of high grass. It's just not a forgiving course. Most of my friends that I bring here don't like it....lol, but a few do. Because I don't pay for food or drinks and get a discount it's worth it for me, otherwise I would rather drive out of the city and play somewhere else. One other thing people should know about this course, it's located a right by the airport so you can be putting and all of a sudden a plane is roaring right over you. It's kind of neat because they are literally right over you, but it's so loud it can break your concentration during a back swing...etc.
Your absolutely correct shan, bunkers are terrible, i wouldn't put my clubs in that either. For that price they should be lined with duck down lol. BTW have you checked out Hockley valley. Up in Orangeville. Its a nice place, lve stayed and played there on safety conferences with my company
Haha true!
I haven't played Hockley Valley but a few people have mentioned it! Will have to check it out one day
Let’s go 1 v 1 at Victoria park east 😜
The price really hasn’t changed for at least 20 years. You’re paying for location near the airport , which is their primary clientele. Also, it’s a hard course with multiple forced carries. Everything in this area ( restaurants, hotels) is expensive. My son used to work there. It’s a really hard course despite the short length.
I’ll say one more thing: you’re paying a premium for location. Land is super expensive in Toronto. Plus, it is a hard course . There was a Canadian Tour event there about 25 or so years ago and the pros struggled with the forced carries. It’s a very tight course in the city. I imagine you saw a few airplanes not far above you.
Ironically, it’s probably the cheapest course in the area. Golf is super expensive in the GTA because of land taxes and , staffing costs and maintenance. I’m surprised the course has lasted this long. Good vlog by the way.
Thank you for pointing that out! We did see/hear a lot of airplanes nearby 😂 and yes, the location definitely impacts the price. I imagine the golf course is paying quite a lot for their location. Increase in maintenance costs might explain the bunkers too. I watched a few older videos at this course, the hazards have grown quite a bit. The golf course is definitely challenging! Its really a nice golf course if it is in better condition.
$135 is sadly a good price for a course that close to downtown and if you live in the West end its very handy. You do have to hit it straight. Its very much target golf so anything sprayed or if you don't hit it the correct distance does end up in a penalty area. If you spray it a bit bring lots of golf balls. Also, depending on the day you can have a lot of low flying planes passing over as its right on the approach to Toronto airport. Personally I like it but would not enjoy playing it every week.
You should try Lowville or crosswinds. Alot better courses and Lowville is a good deal
Thanks for posting - I’ve never played here but am familiar with the other Kaneff courses. This looks like the norm for Kaneff - overpriced, and challenging for the wrong reasons (such as fairways that look like a kid’s soccer field). You are way better than this course allowed you to be - it’s like playing chess during an earthquake. I was hoping Royal Ontario would be an outlier vs Lions Head, Royal Niagara, etc., but I will continue to avoid this one!
Hi! Just to clarify, Royal Woodbine is not part of the Kaneff courses. I've never played Royal Ontario, but i've heard good things!😊Kaneff courses are expensive though... I recently played Lionhead Legend course (video coming soon) and I had a much more enjoyable day there! Very challenging course as well, but felt much "nicer". I guess it depends on the maintenance of each course!
Not a beginner-friendly course, it can be a real ball-eater, even for more experienced golfers.
For a golf course that expensive, the course doesn't look well maintained and the bunkers are brutal with all those rocks in it. nice birdie though!
The greens and fairways are pretty decent. Tee decks and bunkers definitely need more maintenance 😂
was going to comment the same thing. thast overpriced even for toronto lol
4:23 man is that ever tragic
😂
whats your handicap shan?
Around 10 :) from the white tees. On a good round -> in the low 80s, occasionally break 80. First time playing more difficult courses -> maybe mid-high 80s!
The golf fee is too high but they charge that much all because of location IMO. I played this course once using a Groupon half price coupon & it was a day I played terrible. The full fee & my terrible round has kept me away ever since.
Same for me! 😂
I’ve played here a few times, I never thing it’s worth the price
For $135 a round.
There are better selection for that price.
Hidden lake, Lakeview, Granite ridge, Indian well, Twenty valley Under $100. $100+ wooden stick. Copper creek and hockey valley As for your putting
This is my personal opinion please review your old video and your old putting technique was much better with confident. No need to change anything. 😊😊😊
Great suggestions! Thanks 😊
I don’t even know where to start..😩 I’ll start with the positive. Great putt out of bunker 💯 they need a new greens keeper! I get Saturday is premium price. Omg they charged you for a foursome.. just sayin 🤬
Thank you! 😊 And yeah... Although weekday will run you over $100 including tax. 😅 I think with better conditions, it could be worth the price for people who enjoy this type of golf course.
@@GolfwithShan if it was inexpensive I’d look past the condition & the unplayable bunkers. We spend too much on clubs.. a course equal to that.. 45 usd where I live. The top notch in my area 65 for Saturday. I cringe at 65 😂🤣
I totally agree! Golf clubs get more and more expensive. It's not worth risking them in rocky bunkers 😂
Golf course was way over priced. Tee boxes looked bad and of course the bunkers.
Way too much for a public course. I stopped playing there 5 years ago. I think golf fees should be $70 to $80 including power cart.
I agree! I think with better bunkers, $70-80 all in is not bad for this course
I think you're in the top 100 of the most beautiful women on the planet.
Agree . The golf course is overpriced…Don’t mind paying $60 per person but $135 is little steep…do have a question.Which country has cheaper green fees?..Philippines ..or Thailand?…reason I ask is I want to plan a golf trip to either, but not both.
I've never been to the Philippines... In general, Thailand is more popular destination. The golf courses are not cheap, BUT they are in amazing condition! Beautiful courses. Feel free to check out this video ruclips.net/video/hG6KxK6M9xQ/видео.html about prices we experienced and this video ruclips.net/video/09uAtL7v6ZU/видео.html where we used Golfasian. Golfasian is a good option if you want an easy experience where everything is booked for you.
That place is target golf on steroids, and the designer of the course has a fetish for forced carries. Price reflects the convenience of its location; you putting out of a bunker is really not a good look for that course but you probably hit the correct shot all things being equal.
NOT worth it.... & your sand wedges deserve to be played out of bunkers that are cared for.
agreed!
Lmfao not worth it!
