Fun Subnautica Technical Fact! (I'm pretty sure about this, correct me if I'm wrong) The reason why the lag appeared while the base pieces were building, but not when he was walking around, is because every time you build a base piece connected to another, the game checks the status of EVERY SINGLE BASE PIECE. That's why building the base pieces took so long. (Again, I might be wrong, correct me if I am.)
Hi Bacon! I just wanted to drop in and say thank you for doing your part in keeping the Subnautica fandom alive and in the public consciousness. I've done something kinda like that before, it was a ton of glass connectors that went off into random mini L shape rooms and up to different levels. felt like a hamster maze
I'm pretty sure it would cost more than that in survival, as you also need hull reinforcements, as structural integrity is a thing. But on a plus side, it would probably make an epic maze to send your friends into if done right.
@TheLastBacon also it seocnd time for my wntire life when youtuber coments me and first when youtuber with over 250 k aubscribers (for 9 years of my life)
It makes me wonder how much titanium and other resources are in the game. I remember making a quit large base ( an very decorated) , and I basically took all titanium from the dunes, lost river, and a good portion from around the aurora. (it was a hardcore save and I had some funny encounters with the reapers) I also needed a lot of quartz. So much so that I had problems finding it.
Wait, I got an idea... what if you start a survival world and build one base piece for every day till Subnautica 3 comes out? There's a guy who's already doing that with Seamoths...
On the topic of base building I actually figured out that if you jump through the moon pool while holding an item with the propulsion cannon you can than place that item in your base. Note that at night certain items textures tend to be wonky.
Nice Video. Cool way to test the limits of the game. For anyone like me wondering how long it would take to craft up the plasteel ingots, which take, just like the titanium ingots, around 5 seconds to make, it would be swift 2.7 hours of standing in front of your fabricator. And now imagine collecting all the recources for that

*Bacon:* "I built the world's longest Subnautica base using 1000 large rooms!" *Bacon's computer:* "He can't keep getting away with it! He can't keep getting away with it!!"
Here's the cause of the lag you are getting and possibly how to fix it somewhat. (Oh yeah btw I got this explanation from Salvner when he made his teleportation grid around the map.) You are right that the game checks every single base piece, but it also checks every attachment point on the base as well. If you create a new base, the game will check every single attachment point on the entire base, even in base pieces you have already made. For example, if you place down an X corridor not attached to anything (i.e. it's a brand-new base), the game will check every attachment point on it to see what is connected. It will say there are four walls, one ceiling, and one floor. If you put a hatch on it, it will say that there are 3 walls, one hatch, one ceiling, one floor. If you place down a reinforcement, it'll go, there are 2 walls, 1 hatch, 1 reinforcement, 1 floor, 1 ceiling. If you add a whole new base piece to it, like a multipurpose room, it'll check every spot in the room as well as the X corridor. The more spots you add when you add more sections, the more spots the game has to check and therefore the longer it takes to build your base. This isn't noticeable when you have a normal sized base, but when you have a gigantic base like yours, the lag becomes really noticeable. This is also why starting a new base has no lag, because subnautica only checks the base you are building off of rather than all bases. The easiest way to reduce lag is just to use less taxing base pieces when building gigantic bases as you like to do. For example, when building horizontally, it's best to use glass corridors instead of regular ones because glass corridors have 3 less attachment points than regular corridors. I hope this helps! :)
Very cool! I once had an idea to use a teraformer and, let's say, make "holes" in the beams and give the base literally inside the sand or other soil, but so that the structure of my base would be a little elongated and so that I could put a window and look at the biome. It's pretty hard to explain, but it was my best base and I couldn't see it because it was "inside the sand".
