That’s an old old old combine antic one at that. Crops our looking good but don’t need that rain that is coming . We need rain bad creeks our dry our ponds our low our wells some our okay hauled water in to fill them up . Very good video Young.
Seeing the old combine was a real pleasure. Amazing how machinery has evolved as the years go by. The rain just does not seem to give you many breaks. Great video as usual and thanks Jan.
Great video with beautiful views of the distant rain showers. I’m enjoying your daily videos, but don’t wear yourself out. Also, I like that your videos are recent - only a few days back. Some other RUclipsrs are sometimes a month or more delayed. No big deal I guess as all of you are busy, but it bugs me when conditions/events (drought/rain, etc.) are a month old and you wonder how things are now. Great work and thanks.
Pretty cool lighting on your drone shots of the combine. You can see by your video why Saskatchewan is called the Land Of The Living Skies. You captured it very well.
Another awesome daily video showing all aspects of farming feeding cows/cleaning/bedding/combining/repairs You're doing an amazing job JAN videos like yours everybody should watch to see the care and attention and hard work that farmers like you Jan put into producing the food that ends up on our tables Thank you Best wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮
Awesome video I was just getting ready to comment about whether you could bale pea straw or not I didn’t know if they combine, would pulverize it too much as I was typing that you all started laying Swathes Love your videos. Keep up the good work.
@@saskdutchkidwell I'm curious to know then when does this start for your father and mother, the resting and relaxation? The way I see it, they will always be working on the farm as long as they can but hopefully they'll take some time off to enjoy life more than just working all the time. I don't think the one day your dad had off when he went to the Saskatchewan farm show I believe does not count as a vacation day. I know a lot of people just like you and your folks who farm and there's nothing wrong with it. It's your decision if you want to work all the time or not and your family.
Rest in the winter is what people think. It's more like a change for pace. Have the cold weather to work with and days snow need to get moved. And all the other extra work that comes with the cold weather with equipment.
So the mothers are the 'ladies' but the calves are little buggers'!! You pray for rain, and then it turns up at the wrong moment. Some nice shots of the advancing storm. The squalls with the storm getting a bit frisky with the straw.
If it ain't one thing, its another. That's certainly the new meaning of Life now-a-days. That Poor cow🐮😢. Please keep Us updated. Your dad getting soaked...hope he doesn't catch a cold 😮. Take care and rest up...the daily videos are awesome but, I doubt We'd want you to get burned out. Unless, you ❤ making the daily then...cool 😎. Laterz Jan 🙂.
Actually @saskdutchkids Dad is in my prayers to not catch a cold prayer has Power and God certainly hears my prayer for them Amen to that they are all included in my prayer including Jan and even his Sisters Boyfriend is included adairyontheprairies Name includes them of course I'll include them as God calls us to love Everyone as we're made to be One Body in Christ Ephesians 1:23.
I like to call those micro-fiber towels you used on the sorting gate sensors… cats tongues. They clean incredibly well with alcohol. Thanks for the great content.
You have had the same type of summer that we've had in Minnesota. DRY spring, the only moisture was snow melt. May, June, July were Hot and DRY. Now that plant growth is done .......we are getting rain. 8+ inches in the past two weeks. At least it has perked up the grass.
I’ve seen those Saskatchewan skies so I know how big they are However, you certainly outdid yourself capturing the skies over your fields in this episode.
Another great video....taking care of the injured calf....feeding.....cutting straw, and the list goes on. Those calves really look good and because they are well cared for. You and your family are surely an inspiration for future dairy persons. Thanks again for sharing another day on the dairy farm. Take care and have a great day!!! Work hard and play hard to maintain a good balance in life.
just wondering if you ever do any operate the combine, always see your dad driving it, you always put up great vids, makes my day when you post a new vid.
Hi Jan, I have a question. That abandon combine in the middle of the field, why is it there and why hasn't the owner "recycled" it, taking it to a scrap yard? Thanks.
Nice to see hoi Manu Crowd you Guys have is Thérèse a posibility Thatcher aan outstander grom another country can come and see hos you Guys do it and held a bit on the farm??
Great video do dairy cows do like horses and go to certain bed stall to lie down or do they just go at any random one ? Thanks Jason Ham from Athens Alabama
That machine wasn't quite a combine yet. Grain had to be cut, bundled and fed into the thresher, the combine eventually put these 3 jobs into 1 machine.
I’m sure somebody else mentioned this already, but would it be better to get rid of that old combine equipment and then work that soil up so you can plant on it and make much-needed money they can go towards the farm?
Jan, if you had all the necessary resource requirements, would you want to change to a rotating circular milking parlor or would you prefer robot milking machines or stay as you are ? Just curious. I asked 10th Gen aka Erik the same question.
What do you do with all the animals that pass away? Is there a mass cow grave somewhere on the farm? Are there many mass graves? Such as calves that are stillborn or maybe sick or injured cattle that don't make it?
A while back, I was getting a lot of YT suggestions to watch hoof trimmers at work; just curious, do you use a hoof trimmer for regular herd checks or only when there are major problems?
There were weeds in the field. Swathing allows the weeds to dry before threshing. Dry weeds go through the combine better. They were also concerned about the rye shelling, and the grain falling to the ground, before they were able to thresh it.

neat old machine!
Great episode my friend. Thanks for sharing 👍

Glad you got some rain. Even if it put the pea harvest on hold.
Jan what do the Holsteins typically do during the over night hours.
Are they like the typical Hereford, wake up, stand up, and produce fertilizer?
That is really nice view those cows are resting.😃

Great video, Jan. Too bad about the weather.
The old combine shoukld be displayed at the entrance to your main farm entry 🚜 🚜 🚜🐄🐄🐄🐄 🚜 🚜🚜
That would be sick!
I'm no expert but that old combine kinda looks like a 1928 Holt. There are some videos on RUclips of them in operation.

There is always a pecking order.
Hi Jan do you all speak dutch in daily living ore english??? Thank you
Those hailstones out there ?
Do the cows tend to go to the same stalls each days or same area of the barn?

He said they don't own it!
I think that's on someone else's farm that they drive by on the way to their rented fields,
In your spare time (yeah, yeah - I know 🙄), y’all should refurb that old picker and park it in your front yard for decoration!
That would be sweet but it doesn’t belong to us
Hey Jan how are u doing how come u shave off the part of your beard where it connects to your hair
Great job
Cheers.
Can’t wait to see what you get from the hay and peas.
Mooie beelden!
Do you use the same header for the combine and swather?
No, the one that they run on the combine is a flexdraper. The one on the swather is rigid. They're both the same size though. (35')
Dang rain is coming when you need it the least. You guys use everything including the soybean straw.
Jan, if you had all the necessary resource requirements, would you want to change to a rotating circular milking parlor or would you prefer robot milking machines or stay as you are ? Just curious. I asked 10th Gen aka Erik the same question.

10-20 old combines = 1 new combine. How many humans/animals did one old combine replace?
A lot! I wonder what climate nuts do back then???

Noob question; why don't you use that combinehead on the rye?
There were weeds in the field. Swathing allows the weeds to dry before threshing. Dry weeds go through the combine better. They were also concerned about the rye shelling, and the grain falling to the ground, before they were able to thresh it.

They don't offer farm tours, so you probably won't be allowed to visit the farm.
