I've noticed two kinds of people hate the 2019 Cheiftian. The ones that own a Harley and the ones that own the older Chieftian. I own neither! Without bias I can say the 2019 Chieftain is a nice looking bike.
I owned a 2017 HD Road King, and was looking to upgrade to the Street or Road Glide. After demo riding a 2019 Chieftain Special, I have to say that as far as comfort riding is concerned, Indian surpasses HD by far in my book. All the amenities you pay for on the Harley, are standard for the Indian. It's all personal preference, but it's been my experience that most of the Harley owners (I say most, not all) will stay with their brand. I thought that I would stay also, but I enjoy the look of the Chieftain and also enjoyed the ride.
I own a '17 ROAG GLIDE Special and and an '02 Goldwing. I think the new Chieftan looks great, less bloated and more athletic. I'm partial to motorcycles, not bandwagon. If everyone had to ride or like one kind, it would be a boring sport.
Well here's my take.....I own one Motorcycle.2018 Road King Special,Olive Gold.I absoulelty love and adore the new 2019 Bronze Dark horse Chieftain Limited.O my Lord!😮😲
I like both of these bikes. Not a big fan of the Retro style fairings but I still like it. I know a couple of people that have the old Chieftain good performance and Power. I'll be ready soon.
Trying to make it look close to a street glide, especially with flat bags. Should've kept the turn signals in the fairing which now also looks closer to a street glide. Piss on it, and it's $26,000 price tag hell no.I love my 2012 Vic CC and all it's uniqueness like ROUND saddle bags, forged highway bars, better engine and no sticker shock.
awesome bike, even though i like the old style better - hey anyhow; INDIANS are all looking great - I wish them a lot of success for the 19 model (good video by the way ;)
you probably dont care but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Jeremias Alexzander thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
when just looking at the bikes side by side the 18 looks like the new and improved version. I'm not complaining about the look of the 19 it looks great and the 3 modes are a great addition. But the older fairing has added driving lites, integrated turn signal, color match inner fairing and old school color Speedo and tack. Must classier then the black.
It will be interesting to see what sales do as Indian moves away from traditional styling and points of difference to Harley 😏 Personally, I’ll keep my 2016 for as long as possible…….I bought it ‘because’ it looks like an Indian 😎
xerocookieable I like the fairing with the turn signals in them looks like under eye war paint . I haven’t really heard any issues of any Indian besides the scout the seat sucks and so does the suspension . I found a great deal on a 17 chieftain dark horse but analog gauges and no ride command
Nice bikes but I bought a 16 R K and I'm to old to be losing money by trading it in had other bikes this is my first harley and I'm gonna die owning it
All that's been done is.. Pull back handle bars.. High flow air intake.. After market exhaust.... Must need fuel controller.. For about another 3 grand.. Lol
So Indian made the Chieftain look like a Streetglide "for a more youthful appearance" because we all know how youthful that Baby Boomer generation is that Harley markets towards.
Indians are killing it way better looking bike speaker lines and love the lcd screen Harley is bulky and over priced for what you get and I’m not bias to either but I would buy a Indian all day over a Harley just for the looks and overall product
The 18 had too much going on on fairing, I like the simplicity of the 19, all those saying Indian is copying hd, maybe so, but Indian level of refinement and finish is on another level, HANDS DOWN. Now if they can only make this bike for around $15k exactly as is, what a world it would be ;)
My 2019 Chieftain Classic just arrived last week. Waiting for new wheels and 116 kit install. Chose the Classic because don't like the the Chieftain "Indian-Davidson" look. Switched from Hawgz to Indian in January of 2017 NOT because of any perceived likeness to HAWGZ. Thinking Polaris made new Chieftain to get the attention of Street Glide riders.
I do not know what goes on in the minds of engineers and designers of Indian motorcycles. Instead of keeping Chieftain's identity through his unique design, they want to make lines similar to those of harley davidson. It was horrible!
Cables fall apart, break, no way is it better than a hydraulic clutch as said they went on the cheap and used a cable just more cost cutting but over price the product.
I honestly agree that for a luxury high-end motorcycle that they should include a hydraulic clutch or even a Triumph style electronically assisted clutch rather than a basic cable actuated clutch
Have you ever taken an advance motorcycle riding class they teach feathering the clutch and making the clutch ingauge right off the handle bar for more control of the bike. You cannot do this with the hydraulic clutch way more control with the cable check it out. Go to one of the bike rodeo videos and watch how they ride. Have a blessed day
Polaris stole everything that made the victory cross country the perfect bike, stuck it on this thing, raised the price by $10000 and tried to go head to head with the street glide. Polaris you keep ignoring the working people that actually ride motorcycles who don't have deep pockets and it wont be long before you go under. STOP trying to be Harley and give the people what they want ( a $15000 sporty bagger).
That’s exactly my point nobody complained that it was owned by a bowling company and it was still considered a Harley. But everybody wants to talk crap about Polaris. Which by the way and I’ve had both currently have a 2020 road glide special. Indian does make an amazing Motorcycle and I would absolutely get another one, I only have a Harley because I never had one and I wanted to get one so I sold my Indian. Now that I have one I will probably buy another Indian and have both and keep them both but out of the box the Indian in my opinion has some things that are better than Harley and some things that aren’t as good as Harley
That sure is one nice street glide that Indian came up with. From the direct rip off of the front fairing right down to the engine idle management system (shutting off the rear cylinder when the bike comes to a stop) Can't wait till next year for the CVO Indians to come out.. Epic Fail!
I was thinking of upgrading from my 2017 Chieftain Limited to the new 2019 version until I saw the new 2019 Chieftain! My God they ruined this bike !!!! Epic fail Indian
Lots of money for little technology. Where are the linked brakes, traction control, electronic suspension , cornering abs, heated seats, heated grips and satellite radio. Just like Harley, a decade behind.
I much prefer the 2018 Chieftain. I’ll stick with my 2017 Springfield.

They've made the 2019 look more like a Harley Streetglide, which is a shame.
compare the street glide to the chieftain , you get More Options with the Indian
Old style was so much better, all they needed to add was a vent system on the fairing...
I like both of these bikes. Not a big fan of the Retro style fairings but I still like it. I know a couple of people that have the old Chieftain good performance and Power. I'll be ready soon.

The 2018 was the last Chieftan the 2919 is a chief glide!
you probably dont care but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?

@Jayceon Cohen instablaster ;)
@Jeremias Alexzander thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process now.

@Jeremias Alexzander It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out!
@Jayceon Cohen no problem xD
I like them both. Since I’d be spending my money, I’d get the 2019. It’s a cleaner look to me and I like the upgrades.
Love those Indians! They just get better and better!
I will stick with my 2014 Chieftain, new one looks just like a street glide to me.
hi there- whats the difference with the windshield. Does the 2018 have some of the electronic options that you described in the 2019>
Hello, both models (2018 & 2019) have an electronic windshield.
You mean the 2019 Chief Glide!
Hey you guys going to do
2019 v 2020 Indian chieftain comparison soon
when just looking at the bikes side by side the 18 looks like the new and improved version. I'm not complaining about the look of the 19 it looks great and the 3 modes are a great addition. But the older fairing has added driving lites, integrated turn signal, color match inner fairing and old school color Speedo and tack. Must classier then the black.
that's the base model...Steel Gray always is...Look on website for better colors
I love the 2019!
do you sell Victory parts?
It will be interesting to see what sales do as Indian moves away from traditional styling and points of difference to Harley 😏 Personally, I’ll keep my 2016 for as long as possible…….I bought it ‘because’ it looks like an Indian 😎
I got an 09 crossbones,i love nostalgic bikes. I like the big front fender indians but not their wheel choice.
When Polaris adds a nut cooler I'll consider buying this. It's hot where I live.
I own a 15 streetglide special and I like the 19 chieftain. Does it have navigation?
Ron Hamilton - Yes and a 7” screen with touch, pinch and drag etc..
Not the base model but the rest do. Pretty sure you can add it though for about 5-700
I do like the 19 models. But it just doesn’t shout Indian too me.
How hard is it to get the old fairing put on a 19. ? Or to get the ride command put on the 18 ?
They still make old style just call it classic now. Ride command is on 17 and up.
xerocookieable ty . But I just looked at a 17 and it’s all analog gauge and such :/
I got a 15 was going to get a 18 but heard a lot of problems with new bikes im sticking my closed fairing.
xerocookieable I like the fairing with the turn signals in them looks like under eye war paint . I haven’t really heard any issues of any Indian besides the scout the seat sucks and so does the suspension . I found a great deal on a 17 chieftain dark horse but analog gauges and no ride command
Scout just not for me way too small and feel every bump.
Anyone know if the seats are interchangeable?
Blackhawk 247 yes they are...still👍
Ha.... looks more like a Victory Cross Country!
Long live Victory
Nice bikes but I bought a 16 R K and I'm to old to be losing money by trading it in had other bikes this is my first harley and I'm gonna die owning it
Engine guard not standard? Looks to me like the overall look is inspired by the Street Glide
Hello, the engine guards are not standard on the Chieftain.
Spartan Cycle they should be
Only on the base model; standard on the rest
All that's been done is..
Pull back handle bars..
High flow air intake..
After market exhaust....
Must need fuel controller..
For about another 3 grand..
Lol
I love my victory cross country, but I'm really thinking about them chieftain if it fits me like my victory I'll get one..
So Indian made the Chieftain look like a Streetglide "for a more youthful appearance" because we all know how youthful that Baby Boomer generation is that Harley markets towards.
The back ground music sucks on this video; interferes with commentary!
2018 Chieftain vs
2019 ChiefGlide
Nice 👌
Indians are killing it way better looking bike speaker lines and love the lcd screen Harley is bulky and over priced for what you get and I’m not bias to either but I would buy a Indian all day over a Harley just for the looks and overall product
These bikes are so hot it's like riding a wood burning stove which can be purchased at Lowes for a lot less money.
The 18 had too much going on on fairing, I like the simplicity of the 19, all those saying Indian is copying hd, maybe so, but Indian level of refinement and finish is on another level, HANDS DOWN. Now if they can only make this bike for around $15k exactly as is, what a world it would be ;)
And my 2017 chieftain has the headdress on the finder
Very nice
IndianMotorcycle is always looking way better than any HarleyDavidson !
Indian-Davidson. That was epic. LMAO!
Although you're trying to sell the 19 - the 18 is nicer, sorry dopey ...
I like it. Is the bike lighter?
The 2018 Chieftain is 817 lbs wet, while the 2019 Chieftain is 822 lbs wet.
definitely.
Pretty much a street glide
I do not know what goes on in the minds of engineers and designers of Indian motorcycles. Instead of keeping Chieftain's identity through his unique design, they want to make lines similar to those of harley davidson. It was horrible!
Wish the kept 3 lights..just more shit you gotta buy
If you can’t beat em, join em!
Still no hydraulic clutch for that kinda money there is no reason for this.
The clutch is so easy now, why would you need a hydraulic clutch?
Cables fall apart, break, no way is it better than a hydraulic clutch as said they went on the cheap and used a cable just more cost cutting but over price the product.
You don't need a hydraulic clutch on these
I honestly agree that for a luxury high-end motorcycle that they should include a hydraulic clutch or even a Triumph style electronically assisted clutch rather than a basic cable actuated clutch
Have you ever taken an advance motorcycle riding class they teach feathering the clutch and making the clutch ingauge right off the handle bar for more control of the bike. They traded Classic Indian looks for the uglyness of HD!
Welcome 2019 Indian Street glide. We copied everything even the bags open like a Harley Davidson.
Which means they cheapin it up compared to the 2018.
Never after -53!
It’s hilarious to see everyone bitch about the new chieftain. If you like the old one then buy the 2019 chieftain classic.
Wasn’t Harley Davidson owned by Dupont at one point??
@@nicewhip9854 No but harley was owned by bowling machine maker AMF!
That’s exactly my point nobody complained that it was owned by a bowling company and it was still considered a Harley. But everybody wants to talk crap about Polaris. Which by the way and I’ve had both currently have a 2020 road glide special. Hot bikes
2018 chieftain next to an indian street glide.
I hate the new Indian ChiefGlide !!! They ruined that bike !!!!
Not a fan of the 19'...I love my 18'
Just a street glide clone. Way to go Indian. RUINED THE CHIEFTAIN.
um... no... damn thing looks like Hardly...
Polaris priced like a Harley-Davidson 😂
Indian Harley hybrid.🤔
Polaris Chiefglide
The all new Harley, I mean Indian Chieftain.
No thanks I'll stick with my 16 street glide
Streetglide wannabe
Looks like a Street Glide. Nothing special.
They are Native Americans, not an "Indian". It's amazing the improvments in your intellagence over the decades.. Welcome to 2018, pushing 2019.
