I just took this exact flight last week - Montreal to Atlanta on a 717. I was curious about this aircraft because I think this is the first time I've flown in one. No IFE, even in First Class? We did get a "bistro meal" though, which was sufficient for a flight that short. Funny thing, you think of Montreal as being really far away (from Atlanta) yet the flight is somewhat shorter than a flight to Denver which I have made many times.

MD-95 is quite an old plane and I think Delta simply don't want put too much money on these old short haul planes as they are about to be replaced by A220. I'm happy to hear that the service standard is now back to the normal.

Delta is retiring the 717 I think in 2025 as more A220s enter the Delta fleet.

The last relic of McDonnell Douglas (if you don't count ARJ21)

That's actually really strange about them compensating you on flight in economy that doesn't offer meal service. Those flights don't get meals in economy and I'm not sure even in F. It's only a 2.5 flight. You got the service to be expected on such a flight. You got this way wrong somehow. The 717 doesn't even have ovens.

Delta provides a meal for business passengers on flight more than 900mi long. YUL-ATL is somewhere 950mi ish. So, that's why there should be a complimentary meal for this flight.
