Good report. One thing I will mention is that I heard some FWS guys talking about how even though things are down from the last survey in 2019, this year's hatch was better than last year. All that said, Pintails are really struggling and they were speculating that Pintails might be protected (not legal to harvest) next year in the Central Flyway.
Thanks! This year's was certainly much better than last year from what I saw in the few days I was out there. I hope they keep the pintail limit at 1 for now but I wouldn't be surprised if they close the season on them. My understanding is that their decline is mainly due to their propensity to nest in crop fields which then get tilled/planted, causing the loss of lots of nests
I live in Tennessee and they used to do the white neck collars as well as Chicago Illinois at the zoo and Wisconsin does white collars other than that those are the only 3 states that I know have white collars
Yep, I work for DRC Call Co and also do filming gigs on the side when I get the chance. Most my trips are only one state over too, DRC is located in NW Minnesota so it's only an hour drive over to North Dakota
Hey man just met u in Oshkosh wi was a great time meeting u. I bought a goose call if u would like to Try and hunt out here in north east Wisconsin our group would be happy to have u.
Yep I'm always down to answer questions, I haven't got any new ones since my wigeon a few years ago but I should have a couple to pickup when I get back to VA
That’s awesome I’m new to duck hunting and only hunted one season but I loved it so I bought a new 12 guage for the next season which for me started September 15th so I pretty excited Im really interested in ducks and like to mount them myself I have 5 mounts I did by myself and working on getting more can’t wait to get a frame widgeon and a green wing I’ve only got hens of both of them so hopefully I can get a drake my teal decoys just came in today
I don't like breaking dogs at all and it can definitely be a dangerous situation. Mikey was actively trying to stop chopper from breaking using the e-collar and that's why he only made it a couple feet out of his dog blind. The only thing I could do in that situation was to not shoot
@@HokeOutdoors I agree partly however Mikey still rewarded Chopper for breaking by letting his dog complete the retrieve after breaking and then sitting. Good point below on a tether being a safe tool to accompany lots of steadiness training.
I never feel comfortable shooting over a dog and that's why I didn't pull the trigger. Since I've never owned a retriever I struggle with the breaking conversation though, especially when hunting with new people. How is it my place to step in and tell someone they shouldn't shoot when their own dog breaks? Stuff like this is the reason that when I get a dog I will tether it every time when hunting out of layouts, way too many opportunities for accidents or negligence
I love duck hunting but they short clip of the elk was fire
Seeing them was definitely the highlight of my scouting!
Way to make the most of it Thomas! Loved all the B roll of the birds, especially the cans and ruddy ducks.
Thanks buddy! Lots of cans up there this year, didn't see the first one last year so hopefully it'll be a strong flight for them this fall
Great video Thomas even with the lack of birds harvested. Those bulls were massive!
Thanks Titus! They were a surprise to see out there for sure!
Keep the vids coming man. Couple more weeks til honker opener here. Your vids help me stay sane while I wait
Thanks Cody! Got day two from this trip coming out tomorrow. Good luck on the honker opener!
Awesome to get ready for a new season your videos are excellent.
Thanks Lee! More coming soon!

Very interesting, do you see many collars down in TN?
Chicago is 3 prefix and Wisconsin and Tennessee is 4 prefix
Enjoyed it Thomas
Thanks Chuck! I appreciate you watching!
Do you work for a living? How do you get the funding for all these trips and non stop hunts?
Yep, I work for DRC Call Co and also do filming gigs on the side when I get the chance. Most my trips are only one state over too, DRC is located in NW Minnesota so it's only an hour drive over to North Dakota
Hi hoke

It was a pleasure meeting you and I’d definitely be down to come up that way sometime this season! Hope you love the goose call!
It's awesome
I’m from Ga I can’t confirm I’ve ever heard of doing that to coots but it’s inventive lol
Haha it was definitely the first I'd ever heard of it
From Georgia here I live right on the lake yes we do band coots lol
Haha that's awesome! The real question is do they neck collar them though?
@@HokeOutdoors it’s just a really tight neck collar it’s very small. Very hard bird to catch tho sometimes
What do you mean by if the land is posted? Private land that is open for public hunting?
Yep in North Dakota if land isn’t physically or electronically posted then it is open to hunting for the public
Yo we back 🤙🏽
Back in the saddle!
You need to get yourself a Willow Creek honker call and a Willow Creek speck they are fucking amazing they are made by Brad Jones
Luckily no vet bill geeez
I’m not sure if you answer questions or not but if so do you have any new mounts
Yep I'm always down to answer questions, I haven't got any new ones since my wigeon a few years ago but I should have a couple to pickup when I get back to VA
What kind?
@@canadiansweat_0059 I’m getting a dead mount with a black duck, pintail, shoveler, and teal and a standing pintail mount as well

Never heard of it hear in ga
How are things looking down there for this season?
Really want to link you boss

Is there a reason why you just let your dogs break when they want to? Seems dangerous to me. Just checking to see if you know something I don’t.
They’re not his dogs. I reckon he was invited out there by a subscriber or something so not his hunt to control

Dogs break and they learn from there mistakes and all that and the dog competed the retrieve not every dog is gonna not gonna break
Frist
Almost killed that dog.
