  • Six-year-old Julian Worsham received a customized cart to help him get lunch at his school, Bethany Elementary in Beaverton. Julian uses a cart for lunch because he has achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism.
During the first week of school, lunch worker Enedelia Mottram noticed that Julian used a cart made from an upside down milk crate. She talked to her husband James, who is a custom metal builder.
"I thought we could do so much more for him, you know, I wanted to make something cool that he would be happty to push around and be proud of," said James.
After a couple of weeks, James and his team built a cart complete with handlebars and a license plate with Julian's name on it.
"It was heartwarming to do it for him. and everybody at work felt the same way."

James, his wife, and his team are just the best of the best. What a kind thing to do for a little boy most of them don't even know. Now, someone needs to stop cutting onions because my eyes are running.

Loved it. They did a great thing indeed. The school is lucky to have that lunchroom worker. Good job.

My son also has achondroplasia and this is definitely something he could use too. They need to start a business!

Great idea April! I hope they see your comment. It truly does take a village to raise great kids. I hope someone makes one for your son. Many local high-schools will make items in their plastic molding shops. Have you inquired? Wishing you and yours love and happiness.

Another display of how full of awesomeness people are in the Portland OR metro area. Helping out a stranger in need because why not. Imagine how beautiful your town could become with a few simple acts of kindness... I already know that mine is.

Awesome story but the only thing that was a lil wrong to me is calling what someone else did to try and help LAME! But awesome story!!

Omg... That's exactly what I was thinking! Like really?? Her heart was in the right place, but poor choice of words at that time. Actually SOMEONE had his best interest at heart who concocted the first cart for him, and just because they weren't a metal machinist doesn't mean that their work was "lame". That word is just as offensive as calling a little person, midget. I'm sure someone probably mentioned it to her or hopefully she'll read these comments! O_o

WOW!!! just Wow!!! James and Enedelia MOTTRAM, both of you are indeed , REAL WORLD LEADERS. May God Almighty reward both of you for your kindness, care and Love to Julian WORSHAM.
You know, with all the fighting for power and dominance as well as usual negative news , this story made me pause for a second and realize that there are indeed some very good and caring people still left
YOU HAVE DONE MORE FOR THIS YOUNG BOY'S QUALITY OF LIFE AND CONFIDENCE THAT YOU CAN EVER IMAGINE.
Thanks immensely and may your lives be enriched bountifully.

With all the bad stuff on the news about the human race messing each other up it is so heart warming to see something like this and to hope for better from all the millions of bad apples not getting it. Unless everyone acts like this I think the future is pretty bleak for the human race.
