Vegas native here. You mistakenly lumped in the Sahara Hotel with the defunct properties that shared names with adjacent streets. The Sahara was closed, sold, and renovated by its new owners into the SLS Hotel and Casino. However, the new name only lasted a short time. The property was given back its original name a few years ago, much to the delight of natives and long-time residents. So the Sahara IS indeed still on Sahara Avenue between Las Vegas Blvd and Paradise Rd.
Imagine when Red Foxx lived in the house; first the Las Vegas metro area would have been about 250,000 people, the streets a lot less busy, fewer lanes and less developed. This has always been my view that one should never have a home on a "section road" because sooner or later commercial properties will creep in and take over the residential areas. Always enjoy your bits of trivia during your tours around town.
In 1979 I lived in an apartment on Trop/Topaz. I drove past Redd Foxx’s house daily. He had a car in his driveway with the license plate that said “YDEMOC”. Took me months to realize it was “ COMEDY” backwards. Las Vegas was a great city…inexpensive..easy to get around with very little traffic…safe…incredible cheap restaurants…casinos comped meals without hesitation…a really nice place. Then the population exploded in the late 1980s and prices skyrocketed, traffic turned into Los Angeles Jr, crime went crazy, and casinos decided locals were an annoying group and ended the comps. Don, it’s corporate greed and so much more. For people who have lived there for only 10-20 years, they just don’t know what Las Vegas used to be. The $1.99 buffets, the $20 hotel rooms, the $1 table minimums, quarter craps, nice homes in good neighborhoods for under $100,000, the ability to drive from Frenchman Mtn to Red Rocks in 20 minutes, safe school, and NOT having to pay a fee to visit Lake Mead (back when it actually had water in it). I miss Las Vegas. It will never be what it once was but I guess that’s just time passing and what many people might consider progress.

I remember seeing Redd Foxx at Sam’s Town in early 1991 with 2 VERY attractive asian women Redd had so much cash in his pocket that he didn’t fold it in half went straight into his pocket the long way must have been 50K.
@@Viva_Thailand Ahh, the good life lol. I'd love to have that much cash on me. Thank you so much for sharing this with our community, my friend!
@ the good ole days living in LV dealing craps on swing shift and going out to Alias Smith and Jones every night after work.
@Viva probably some of the cash Redd never declared on his taxes. The feds seized everything-his home, cars, clothes literally the jewelry off his ffing neck as he put it.
Yeah, he was hiding it from the IRS😁
@@jeffreyferguson83F the IRS! 😂😂😂
I was just about to say that's the wrong house but you corrected it also a little further pass Russell is where he is laid to rest along side his mother it has a little red fox on the headstone Tony Curtis is also laid to rest there
Wayne Newtons old home is also down russell going east well the golden horses wer still there outside the white gate
@@callieduval3000 Yeah, I messed up initially lol, but I'm glad I got it right. I'll have to see if I can find and video their gravesites. Thank you so very much for sharing with our community, my friend!
You pointed to the wrong house by the way red foxes house was on your right when you parked the house that you pointed at belong to the Spindel family back in the day he had reds wreck from the TV show he also had the colt 45 car from his commercial and he had a limousine that had red trim with the license plate that says spelled comedy backwards
@@paulseifer5707 Thank you for sharing these details with our community, Paul
I guess my memory is bad, cause I recall his house being brick. 🤷🏽
@@darqueronin3935 I'm not sure. Does anyone else in our community recall this?
Enjoyed the video, but 2 things...
In n out animal fries has grilled onions, not chili. It's their burger sauce, cheese and grilled onions.
Pecos is Paycos, not Peecos. I've never ever heard anyone say Peecos before and I've lived here off and on since the late 70s when my grandparents moved here.
@@tiffanigulbransen5297 Thank you so much, Tiffany! I will get it right in future videos

Awesome content! I was watching your video and thought that you could easily boost your video views by improving your metadata (titles, tags, and descriptions). It’s a simple tweak, but it could help you grow faster! I’d be happy to share some insights with you if you’re interested.

I always thought that's what they put on the animal fries
Sorry, but it drives me nuts when people go straight in the right lane!!!!
I understand. They really need to build more turn lanes here. I'd get over in the middle lane if i knew there was no dedicated turn lane ahead. Thank you for being part of our community!
Kindly delete this driving around nonense. You obviously haven't a faintest cue where Redd Foxx's house is.
