Great reaction. Between reaction videos of this performance and just watching the performance itself, I've watched it more than 100 times and it gets me every time. This, in my opinion is the best live performance I have ever seen in my life. There are other great singers out there, but to me, she is on another level from any of them. Look at her face at the end of the song. That is the reason she was put on this planet. To move people. No one does it better.
More information about Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. “Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, but a few months after, Dalida covered it and brought it to fame. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends. Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations. This 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries. The most recent one I am aware of is from the Korean band Forestella.

“Je Suis Malade” song beautifully tells this depressing story. This song is a popular french song composed by Alice Dona and originally written and performed by French singer Serge Lama in 1973. Classical, very little country, some pop and I also enjoy listening to Pentatonix, Home Free and Voctave the last three are cappella groups. I also enjoy barbershop and you would be surprised at how many barbershop people there are in this country and actually around the world. An extremely good men’s quartet is Ringmasters. You should go on their site and check them out especially the video of you’ll never walk alone/climb every Mountain. It is truly spectacular!!!!! This song made me cry because it speaks to me, like to many people... .To detach myself from this sadness, I found a trick!!!!! In French, when we speak, we don't pronounce the "e" of "Je Suis Malade", we just say "Je Suis Malad'". Of course, singing is very different. We articulate in an exaggerated way. In the original version, Serge Lama pronounces the "e", but a real "e" .......Lara Fabian opens her mouth so much, that she says ""Je Suis Maladé".The "e" in French is pronounced like "a" w"o"rld " , or "a" w"o"rd ......Now for English speakers , imagine that she does not sing , I am sick , but I'm seyck, a bit like in "t"e"ll" or "s"e"xy "!!!!! Oh, by the way, Lara didn’t write this. It’s a French song from the 1970s! She does write or co-write most of her songs, but also does covers like this. She has 2 whole album of covers - one in French and one in English - called Every Woman In Me. The English is recorded with just a piano and her solo voice… and it’s beautiful!
Great reaction. Between reaction videos of this performance and just watching the performance itself, I've watched it more than 100 times and it gets me every time. This, in my opinion is the best live performance I have ever seen in my life. There are other great singers out there, but to me, she is on another level from any of them. Look at her face at the end of the song. That is the reason she was put on this planet. To move people. No one does it better.

Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
• she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total
• she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
• she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
• she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship

“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.
This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).
When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.
Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, but a few months after, Dalida covered it and brought it to fame. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.
But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.
At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends.
Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations.
This 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent one I am aware of is from the Korean band Forestella.

“Je suis malade” song is about romantic love that creates illness and deprivation. It’s the kind that’s not healthy for you. It tells a true story. When Serge Lama wrote it, he was madly in love with a married woman who will be his wife later, until his death.
He’s also taking his anger out because of his mother, who make him feel dirty and ugly without her, feels abandoned like a child in an orphanage.
This song had been interpreted by many artists over the years. Perhaps the most famous rendition in the modern era remains Canadian-Belgian singer Lara Fabian’s 1994 version, which became an immense success and a signature song for her, as well.

I'm glad you pronounced her name correctly. As it is Italian and not French as so many seem to think. This, as with all her performances, is a masterclass in performance art ! There is no one like her. Absolutely the greatest female vocalist of our time. I fell in love from the first moment I heard her.

Yes Lara is amazing as a vocalist ( some other songs will expose more of her vocal skills) but mainly as a performer and a storyteller, she has no equivalent there. She draws you in immediately and connects to you magically.
There are great vocalists singing at you, some other great vocalists singing to the crowd, and Lara is different by the fact she is always singing TO YOU.
I recommend you to check other songs from this amazing concert, they became classics and were covered by the greatests (including Dimash as he is an absolute fan since his childhood and she was a total inspiration in his way to sing and perform).

Classical, very little country, some pop and I also enjoy listening to Pentatonix, Home Free and Voctave the last three are cappella groups. I also enjoy barbershop and you would be surprised at how many barbershop people there are in this country and actually around the world. An extremely good men’s quartet is Ringmasters. You should go on their site and check them out especially the video of you’ll never walk alone/climb every Mountain. It is truly spectacular!!!!! They are an international championship quartet which means at one time I believe in 2017 they were gold medal winners which means the best in the world. Please check them out!!!!

In the original version, Serge Lama pronounces the "e", but a real "e" .......Lara Fabian opens her mouth so much, that she says ""Je Suis Maladé".The "e" in French is pronounced like "a" w"o"rld " , or "a" w"o"rd ......Now for English speakers , imagine that she does not sing , I am sick , but I'm seyck, a bit like in "t"e"ll" or "s"e"xy "!!!!!
