The composer of (je suis malade) is Serge Lama , a song from 1973. The song je suis malade (l'm sick) was inspired by serge Lama's real-life hart break long secret love story
I'm a 72 year old hard rock fan and former musician and this girl touches me like no one else in my life. Tears in my eyes everytime I listen to her. There is just something about her voice that is like no other and it's captivating. Great reaction, and yes the breaths are intentional. Kinda her trademark, and it works pretty damn good. They add so much to her songs.
I'm also 72 and listen to this song for about 10 years on average every month, and every time I'm in tears, which almost never happens with another song.
A little hello from France. No worries about the tears, it's practically systematic for many people who have a heart. Thank you for your honest analysis. Lara is unique and unfortunately unknown to many... In a few seconds you understand that she is with you and you with her... You simply enter a unique moment, closer to a beautiful, sincere and majestic soul. Very few people are able to touch the souls of others so intimately with benevolence... A gentle, intelligent and so fair artist without artifice. I would like her to live forever for what she gives to others around the world. 😉👌👏
There's another concert online where it's only her and the piano. Again, incredible. The acapella part, she sings *without a microphone* ! She is an absolute artist, and still touring and singing just as wonderfully now in 2023 as then.
Who says you need language? That says it all m8, that and the tears rolling down your cheeks, Lara Fabian is another one of those wonderful artists that kidnap your soul🙌 We in the part of the world think we know it all lol This shows us just how little we do know of the wonderful and talented artists throughout the world! The internet has so many pitfalls without a doubt but look at how we can now, hear and discover these wonderful performers from all over the globe! Dimash, Diana, Angelina, So Hyang, we would never had the opportunity to hear. We are so lucky to be blessed with the availability of these wonderful artists. Thank you so much for a truly heartfelt and genuine reaction. Great job Sir! 👏👏👏👍👍👍
Gracias por reaccionar a la gran Lara Fabián, única en su clase... te recomiendo Broken Vow, es hermosa canción. De lo actual, sería Mademoiselle Hyde en un concierto que se dió en Rusia ❤
The lyrics state that it's been two years since the partner has cared at all, the partner leaving and her never knowing where. The lyrics also imply a physical relation when she mentions a time "before your skin".
Lara the Incomparable - every performance a professional singers Master Class. Good call not to interrupt the flow. No-one else does love & loss with the sensitivity & muance of Lara. You are right about the 'theatre'. Lara brings every shred of her outstanding artistry to each performance - she thoroughly embodies the story - with micro-intentionality to every note, every pause & yes; every breath between. Lara is classically trained & can breath imperceptibly when/ where ever she chooses. Here she chooses to insert audible breaths to enhance the emotional delivery. The extent to which she 'inhabits' the piece is revealed in the time it takes for her to pull back to the present at the end. As for whose story this is, because of the intensity of her performance some have concluded that this is her story, and while Lara acknowledges she has had her share of heartbreak, this is not 'her' song. It was written by a friend of hers, a male singer / songwriter who was, at the time, in despair about a long affair he was having with a married lover. To my mind this further underlines the level of her skill. Her 'Caruso' is stunning, { I doubt anyone has -or ever will - do better } but if you need an 'uplift' after this one - you cannot go past her 2001 Paris performance of Je taime. Enjoy. 😊
Thank you! "Micro-Intentionality" is a perfect description. I feel like you can't write a song with this much breadth of emotional anguish without having experienced it first hand. I feel for him having experienced it but I suppose he can take solace in the fact that if spawned such an amazing piece of art.
@@PrymalChaos Allegedly - the couple did eventually get together, but sadly, it didn't last. The old adage of 'Be careful what you wish for'? All too often the romanticised idealised version doesn't 'marry up' to the day to day mundane nuts & bolts of the reality. [ This is where the Victorian Tradition of a minimum of 2 year Engagement makes a lot of common sense! Well and truly past the 12 - 18 month 'Honeymoon Phase'. ] And where the bulk of the attraction resides in the illicit thrill - well.. the outcome's kinda predictable...
Great Reaction!!! She is soul crushing. She crushes us all. Repeatedly. She is a Sorceress Queen, she puts us under a spell and then plays with our emotions at will. We are mesmerized. Spellbound...unable to get out of Lara's world. And when the song is over - we start it over and play it again. We search for and listen to her body of work, we tell our friends, we share her art. And then? We come and watch reactions to her videos trying to recapture the moment it happened to us. For it was so sweet, so sublime, game-changing. Millions can tell you how they feel cheated, sickened, that they did not discover Lara sooner...I am counted in that group. She IS the Sorcerer Queen, long may she reign. My favorite artist...of all time...anywhere...ever.
I so wanted to give your comment numerous likes as it expresses exactly what happened to me! There is no hope fro me now, and I'm totally caught in Lara's web. Thank you for expressing my thoughts way better than I could.
@@philpiper @PrymalChaos Thanks for responding Prymal and Phil. In 35 years of being an amatuer musician and all around music nut, two personal observations. Only two artists have made me cry, consistently, very nearly just by the sound of their voice. Luciano Pavarotti and Lara Fabian. The first I discovered nearly 40 years ago and still adore. Lara, the Queen, long may she reign, I discovered a little over a year ago and like I said, I am sickened by what I had been missing. My first reaction to her was very very powerful to be sure, but what added to it was this sense of "Why did it take so long for me to find her?" Enjoy Prymal, you will be in life long relationship with Lara, I guarantee it....but I sense you already know that.
the song was composed by Serge Lama he popularised this song. But Lara did a fabulous cover performance of this song. she is a master when it comes to emotions and people relate to those emotions she performs so well.
Thanks for not interrupting the performance at all, Nd, importantly, wTching the upload right to the end, where Lara is still totally absorbed within her delivery and character and almost oblivious to the standing ovation. Never apologise for lack of composure and don't be ashamed to share your tears. Rest assured all of us Lara fans cry through sll theses "reaction" sites. Welcome to the world of Lara, the only singer lowrd to dine at Celine's table,.. and vice versa! Consider me subscribed young man!
if you want to see the whole performance go to the artists channel, on reaction channels they are supposed to pause frequently or else reactors get demonetized
See! I'm really glad to discover cross-over on my channel. I was hoping I could aid in helping metal fans discover new facets of the music scene because viewers of my channel have been so generous in introducing me to new material, But what I quickly realised is that there is already so much crossover with genres among metal fans. Thank you for your insight!
@@PrymalChaos Oh, I'm an eclectic beast lol.. But there's nothing wrong with saying Band Maid, Sokoninaru Lara Fabian and Aurora in the same breath. They are all absolutely incredible and borderline legendary in there own way.
Originally sung by Serge Llama. She is just covering it but boy does she own it. Great things happen once in a lifetime. The music, The Lyrics, The performance, The delivery. When all the stars allign, Magic happens.
@@PrymalChaos . I already subscribed to you. Lara is DIMASH idol. I knew you already reacted to DIMASH. Just want to give you some info about these two singers. BTW, react to the duet between Lara and Johnny Halliday the song “ Requiem pour un fou” . You will see the most passionate performance of these two.
One thing that nobody with Vocal training seems to notice or at least do not point out at all is the fact that Lara may 'interrupt' a note but does not breathe before she sings the next few words. Then, here and there, she breathes quickly between two words, both for musical and technical reasons. Also, in some instances, more obviously at the beginning of the song, the sound of the breath portrays the emotion, is the emotion. Just for this song, for a long show taped for television, she had prepared for countless hours. That is the huge difference between a singer, millions of them, and a performer, an "interprète" (to use the French word). One sings words and notes ; the later brings to life to each syllable and projects each note with a definite intention.
@@PrymalChaos I could have added that she breathes in tempo. That is a characteristic we shall not take for granted. Years ago, I accompanied a female singer twice a week, plus rehearsals, for four months. I forced her to breathe in tempo. She had good rhythm overall but at first, she could not do it. When I also asked her to tap the pulse on the piano and sings at the same time, she could not. I had her sing our rehearsal to the metronome next to her. When she improved, I let her free to move the barline but she had to remain aware of the intrinsic pulse. She became way more expressive and fluid... Eventually, she thanked me. **** To add to what I said above, I used to mention Lara to fellow musicians as one of the few singers who can sing long phrases, like a classical violonist for instance would do, in comparison to most singers - and instrumentalists - who just breathe because they physically need to. By the way, I was compelled to share my thoughts from your observation from 13'10. Between 13'10 - 13'20, she breathes only twice, exceptionally after the word "vie" (je n'ai plus de vie). She stops the notes but does not breathe ; this is quite evocative of an emotion that resonates through time, and technically, she sings in long archs. As we should all do...
@@PrymalChaos As you imagine, you could spend the next few weeks listening to her different periods. Here is the same song : 1. singing such a demanding song with two broken vertebrae (happened four days before) ; she walks on stage after getting an injection of morphine in her back, supported by a metal cast, and in excruciating pain - ruclips.net/video/6i9U9E_jcgM/видео.html ; 2. this version proves that a great song in the hands of a great singer can be given a different and convincing twist - ruclips.net/video/oRnAQwOzKX4/видео.html
What a beautiful reaction to this touching song. It's wonderful when people can admit their feelings and cry. They are big heart people - and you are a big heart person! Thank you so much!🙏💞
Believe it or not but this is only a cover. The song is a famous french classic from 1973 by Serge Lama (lyrics and original performer) and Alice Dona (music) But her cover has become the ultimate reference, she made some adjustments that even Serge Lama adopter in her later own interpretations. Lara is a songwriter and has written most of her songs so she knows how to convey emotions and was able to enhance this gem even further.
Yeah. That's why I wasn't sure if she composed it. It did seem like a classic song though. Like possibly Edith Piaff or something. Unfortunately my knowledge of classic French music is pretty limited.
@@PrymalChaos it was a classic in France since 1973 borught to fame by Dalida. it’s Lara that brought it to fame internationally and covers were made after her interpretation by singers from western Europe, eastern Europe, korea (forestella), ….
My friend, many of us have heard this many, many times and, you know what? Most of us started tearing up when you did. What an incredible artist! Can you imagine being in the audience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They stood up in unison even before the song was over because they wanted desperately to let her know what they thought of her performance. I wonder how many artists have watched Lara and have tried to understand how she delivers such emotion while she is telling such a beautiful story. How did she start out? When was she recognized as a "singer?" Well, one day, she was in the backseat of the family car. Her father was driving and all of a sudden Lara burst out in song and papa couldn't believe what he was listening to! How do I know that? Lara told us that story when she was being interviewed. It's on you tube but I have no idea where to find it. Perhaps, Lara Fabian, television interview, might get you there.
You're a sweetheart, a REAL music lover who feels every note, every word, with his deepest soul. Thank you so much Prymal, from Paris, with all my gratitude and love
Great reaction, enjoyed your insight. Looking forward to more and here are 2 more names with endless rabbit holes. Diana Ankudinova and Angelina Jordan
YOUR not alone my friend I was a wreck after the first time I saw this. STUNNING BEAUTIFUL JAW DROPPING not enough superlatives lol Great reaction as always.
That my friends is a master class on evoking emotion! Lara is magnificent in this performance. I have either heard or read somewhere that she is either no longer performing or has severely cut back her performances due to memory issues... But PLEASE don't take my word for it. From the first time I watched this specific performance a year or so back, I have been in love with her talent.
How can you hold back your tears in front of such a masterful work by Lara? I don't come often! And it's not just her song that has this effect on me. She is and will remain as one of the best singers of all time!
This is a true complete artist, not just a performer. Amazing! She owns the songs like she wrote them or it's her life's stories and confessions. She manages to emote while controlling her voice so perfectly. She's like playing...effortlessly...
The song was composed by French singer Serge Lama for himself in 1973. However, Lara Fabian sings it wonderfully well. I think she sings it after going through a painful heartbreak.
@@PrymalChaos Absolutely. And she is such a beautiful, classy, strong lady. Everything about Lara is so pure, and she gives all of that to us through her voice and music.
THE performance to rule them all. Always come back to it. Not composed for Lara. The lyrics by Serge Lama truly are hauntingly beautiful. Same goes for Caruso and Perdere L'amore from the same 'From Lara with Love' concert. Also, try watching Adagio from that concert by yourself. Worlds apart (pun intended) from the World awards performance.
Posting again the information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert. But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA is now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these) Out of my mind I can list: • Adagio, • Mademoiselle Hyde, • Know, • Love of tired swans, She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ». She covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva) And they performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina. This is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy who came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs: • Floor Jansen (Adagio) • Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime) • Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie) • Morissette Amon (Broken Vow) • Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace) • Cakra Khan (Broken Vow) • Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow) • Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade) • .... Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara. If you explore more of her songs, you will soon be hooked, I'm sure.
Exelente reaccion! Obra maestra impresionante de Lara Fabian, unica y casi perfecta! La mejor cantante e interprete del mundo entero, la voz de cristal, mas belleza y perfecta que existe!Gracias!Reaccione a Caruso, Perdere l'amore, I guess I love you, Angels pass away, Gottingen, Tout, Lou, Lebedy! Lara. Best female singer in the world. Dimash. Best male singer in the world. I can see why you don’t read captions whilst reacting to music but in Lara’s case you should. Her lyrics always have so much meaning and intensity. ❤️

Caruso makes me cry like this one. Dimash also uses air and taking in a breath musical. It's nuts...it's clearly an artistic choices, so effective on the emotions, i guess it's sort of coming from Lara. then. It is an older song. I listened to the original version too just out of curiousity. It was very good, yet Lara is just so special. Please do more Dimash. For example Qaragym ai. It is a beautiful emotional song about he's teacher who passed away. Much love.
@@PrymalChaos The funny thing is I’m huge, beardy dude, but every time this woman sings, I just can’t help it))) Check out her cover to “Caruso” from this concert. It’s just magical. Cheers!
Lara Fabian's breath is the essence of music. There is not now, nor has there ever been anyone like her. What you have witnessed here, is a masterclass in performance art by the greatest female vocalist of our time.
Great reaction and this one song that needs a complete listen through first for the whole emotion, then back for a second pass. She really knows how to use the signs and breath to convey the anguish and almost hopelessness of the song.
i did see so much reactions to this song, but thank you so much for this one! what a great honest reactionvideo! again, thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Incredible reaction from you...bravo for showing the feelings. This song will always get you because it's a master class in how to word paint. Lara is an inspiration to Dimash and what an inspiration.
Something to keep in mind is that the lyrics of this song were originally written by a man (Serge Lama) who was truly living through this story at that time (1972). That explains a bit, especially the verse "I pour my blood in your body" which is an allegory for sexual intercourse.
This song was composed by two french people Serge Lama (lyrics) and Alice Dona (music) in 1973. Serge Lama was the one who sang the song in those days. Lara is half belgium and half italian. She lives in Québec now and she add this song to her *répertoire* i think in the mid 1990.
My journey was similar to yours- I've seen her at Music Awards- I remember that I was in a hurry but in passing I've herd her voice and I just stood there and watch the whole performance. Her voice was sweet and powerful and that climax was insane. I stood there thinking- "wow, what a voice, who the f. is she?"". After internet I've seen Je t'aime- live from concert -and it blow me away, I've never seen something so emotional and touching. I instantly recognized her and started to cheek her other work. Hooked since then.
This is a Chanson classic, while her, as a great story-teller, delivering one of the best interpretations ever. Reflecting perfectly how it feels to be in a highly toxic and emotionally abusive relationship - most likely with a narcissist or similar abusive person. The song was written by Serge Lama, a great lyrics talent, back then.
Note that Lama wrote it about an actual love story he had and said that the song was so heartfelt that he wrote the lyrics in half an hour. Fabian's interpretation, though is well above that of Lama, and Lama's version already was nothing to sneeze at.
It seems nobody told you what is the story behind this song, so here it is: Serge Lama (a french Singer - song writer of this song) was in love with a woman. But... both of them were married... One day, he said to her "ok, let's leave our conjoint and let's marry", and she said "yes". But the very next day, she left with her husband in africa (morroco AFAIR). This lead Serge into a complete sadness. He told this story to a woman, and a couple of day after she contact him to say she found a musical for this story, and when Serge heard this music, he cried and wrote straight away the lyrics of the song. So he released the song, and sang it. But... the audience was not that enthusiastic about it... So one day, Dalida (another french singer) sang it and... it was a triumph. The former woman he was in love with heard this song, left her husband and married Serge. And afterward, Lara Sang this song. IMHO, this version is the best one.
Yes, a FABULOUS band. They and the full orchestra she had in this concert really shone. Great reaction. This whole concert will be fun for you. Rock ballads, bubblegum pop songs, classic Italian ballads, saucy Spanish song, etc. 🖖🏽

Cette chanson a été écrite par Serge Lama et la musique composée par Alice Dona. Mais Lara seule a su mettre autant d'émotion...!!!!
She ended the song with a belted note of B4 chest voice while belted toward the end on the same straight belted tone with B4 head voice
Lara was only about 2 years old when this song was written.
It's not the voice, she's singing her own emotions into us, into our souls. Direct soul-to-soul communication, we know you feel it. So do we
Yes..and this is the reason for chills...
I always cry when I hear this song..
It’s fascinating. What makes a song move us like that?! If you could bottle it you’d have more money than coca-cola.
The composer of (je suis malade) is Serge Lama , a song from 1973. The song je suis malade (l'm sick) was inspired by serge Lama's real-life hart break long secret love story

She truly lives the performance. It's simply incredible.
The lyrics state that it's been two years since the partner has cared at all, the partner leaving and her never knowing where. The lyrics also imply a physical relation when she mentions a time "before your skin".
merci
Heart broken devastated
Amazing sincere, honest reaction greatly appreciated.
I am sorry I waited so long to check back in to get catalogue.
Lara is the Queen of our hearts and souls!
Yes.
the song was composed by Serge Lama he popularised this song.
@@itsakittyting Thanks Iris.
Unaware of that.
Still, some uploaders react and pause every ten seconds, which bores the arse out of us.
You have got to respect a man who is not afraid to get emotional and show it over something beautiful. Thank you.
It was hard not to. What a performance. Witnessing greatness always seems to humble me.
Don't feel bad about your feelings. We're all having them. And yes! We feel the brilliance and vulnerability! Superb reaction, thank you.
Thanks Arden! I appreciate you watching!
@@PrymalChaos My pleasure. : )
I'm a j-rock and metal fan.. But Lara, man. She is THE singer I look up to for delivery. nobody, and I mean nobody is more believable than her.
When all the stars allign,
Magic happens.
Amazing reaction!! I agree 100%. Lara is master class and beyond. Thanks.

@@tompham637 I'm not familiar with that one. Exciting news!
Excellent observation.
@@PrymalChaos
As you imagine, you could spend the next few weeks listening to her different periods.

Believe it or not but this is only a cover.
The song is a famous french classic from 1973 by Serge Lama (lyrics and original performer) and Alice Dona (music)
But her cover has become the ultimate reference, she made some adjustments that even Serge Lama adopter in her later own interpretations.
@@PrymalChaos it was a classic in France since 1973 borught to fame by Dalida. it’s Lara that brought it to fame internationally and covers were made after her interpretation by singers from western Europe, eastern Europe, korea (forestella), ….
la version originale n est pas mal non plus.je vous la recommande également
I heard this song so often - I heard so often reactions on (of? about?) this song; yours is one of the best.
Subscribed - its a pleasure. 👍
I would give anything to have been there.
Thank you my friend, thank you very much... Eyes don't lie, eyes cannot lie, eyes NEVER lie... words, perhaps, but eyes... DON'T! Thank you!

OOOHHH HOW i Agree with everything you say ! having just wiped away the tears !
Best and most interresting reaction to this song 👌
That my friends is a master class on evoking emotion! Lara is magnificent in this performance. I have either heard or read somewhere that she is either no longer performing or has severely cut back her performances due to memory issues... But PLEASE don't take my word for it. From the first time I watched this specific performance a year or so back, I have been in love with her talent.
Dont believe a word of it !! she is performing live in Concert with Hauser the cello master at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 9th 2024
Thanks for the correction... I wish I could see that.
How can you hold back your tears in front of such a masterful work by Lara? I don't come often! And it's not just her song that has this effect on me. She is and will remain as one of the best singers of all time!
It's certainly a moving performance.
Loved your reaction buddy, your tears say it all...you might cry again by listening "Broken vow" ;).
Thank you!
This is a true complete artist, not just a performer. Amazing! She owns the songs like she wrote them or it's her life's stories and confessions. She manages to emote while controlling her voice so perfectly. She's like playing...effortlessly...
more Lara please.
Great reaction. We love Lara, she’s incomparable. React to more of her’s please
Being a vocal wannabe artist myself, your comments are spot on. Whatever she does is on perfect level. I want to kiss her boots.

The song was composed by French singer Serge Lama for himself in 1973. However, Lara Fabian sings it wonderfully well. I think she sings it after going through a painful heartbreak.
This one hits deep... Lara is truly extraordinary.
Phenomenal
@@PrymalChaos Absolutely. And she is such a beautiful, classy, strong lady. Everything about Lara is so pure, and she gives all of that to us through her voice and music.
Thank you so much for reacting to this incredible singer and for listening to the whole performance of Lara Fabian.
I will definitely do that!
Posting again the information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
• she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total
• she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
• she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
• she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia).
She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA is now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these)
Out of my mind I can list:
• Adagio,
• Mademoiselle Hyde,
• Know,
• Love of tired swans,
She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ».
She covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva)
And they performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs:
• Floor Jansen (Adagio)
• Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime)
• Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie)
• Morissette Amon (Broken Vow)
• Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace)
• Cakra Khan (Broken Vow)
• Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow)
• Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade)
• ....
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.
If you explore more of her songs, you will soon be hooked, I'm sure.
One of the best review and, belive-ma I see many, too many.
Thanks Albert! I need to get back to Lara, soon!

Lara. Best female singer in the world. Dimash. Best male singer in the world. I can see why you don’t read captions whilst reacting to music but in Lara’s case you should. Her lyrics always have so much meaning and intensity. ❤️
I had a pretty good idea of the meaning. Also someone sent me a more poetic translation which was lovely.
Great reaction! - LARA (not Laura) with links: Lara Fabian is a Canadian of Belgium birth and Italian/Franco/Flemish cultural heritage. Lara spent a decade in a Brussels Conservatory studying piano, composition, and voice. Lara is a full lyric soprano with a vocal range that spans three octaves (A5, B4, BB4, C3, C5, C#5, D5, E5, EB5, F5, F#5, G5) in live performances. She is multilingual; in fact, she speaks Italian, French, Spanish, and English and has sung in 12. Lara, who describes herself as a songwriter/singer, has sold over 30 million records and plays to sold-out venues worldwide. She lives in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with her husband and daughter. A “50 at 50” - fifty live performances celebrating her 50th birthday had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 but will be rescheduled as “The Best of Lara”.

Something to keep in mind is that the lyrics of this song were originally written by a man (Serge Lama) who was truly living through this story at that time (1972). That explains a bit, especially the verse "I pour my blood in your body" which is an allegory for sexual intercourse.
It’s a beautiful song. Lara is a perfect prism through which to view it.
This song was composed by two french people Serge Lama (lyrics) and Alice Dona (music) in 1973. Serge Lama was the one who sang the song in those days. Lara is half belgium and half italian. She lives in Québec now and she add this song to her *répertoire* i think in the mid 1990.
Thanks. Very good reaction. Lyrics are very poetic too.
I was just shown a far more poetic translation. It's beautiful.
I think that performance introduced Lara to a lot of people!

It makes me want to learn French.
Note that Lama wrote it about an actual love story he had and said that the song was so heartfelt that he wrote the lyrics in half an hour. Fabian's interpretation, though is well above that of Lama, and Lama's version already was nothing to sneeze at.
Great reaction !!! Thank you for sharing ! 😉👍😉

Yes the English is ham fisted, and you made an outstanding decision to not let the words get in the way,
It's a magical performance.
It seems nobody told you what is the story behind this song, so here it is:
Serge Lama (a french Singer - song writer of this song) was in love with a woman. But... both of them were married...
