Such a gorgeous instrument. I once picked up a violin and it audibly screamed, then jumped out of my hands and exploded in flames. So I can kind of see the mountain of insane skill that must be required to make it look so effortless.

I am so going to try this technique. It sounds great, rich, without any unpleasant phase or chorus FX. I record my own cello parts but it is in no way my main instrument. This will help me not run out of the studio when my soloed parts play back through the monitors. I am going to try it with Eventide Blackhole just for laughs! Really creative and interesting harmonic choices BTW! Thank you for this brilliant demo!

I think of recording tech in relation to art supplies. The audio interface/DAW is your canvas (mega cheese), the source you’re recording is the paintbrush, the mics are your primary colors, and your external preamps and other outboard gear are the color blends and other shades you have at your disposal to sculpt your sounds. I hope that made sense cause thinking about it it can sound kind of confusing

4:33 absolutely! It's too easy to get into the habit of editing instead of doing good takes. Not only is it less efficient but it degrades playing skills. If it takes a couple of sessions it's good practice and next time will be easier. I learnt this lesson the hard way!
