I think Senior Pastors need to listen to this. Some Pastor allow anybody in the Choir because it looks good when a lot of people stand in the Choir stand on Sunday. However, I agree with you. The good thing is that singing can be taught. On the other hand, it is like teaching a new language. Imagine a group of dancers dancing and that one person dancing off beat. That is how it sounds when choir leaders give in to allow someone who can't sing to lead a song. Mainwhile, their are also churches where that Choir Leaders themselves are in competion with the lead singer because Pastor keeps requesting a perticular person to lead.🤦 This confusion must stop in Jesus Name!🙌
God bless you for this Pastors most times are the reason while there are problems in music Department...I keep telling them not anyone who has a good voice must be in the choir
Thank you for this Ccioma. Can we please get tutorials that maybe we can share with our teams. Tutorials for the Ear training you mentioned, mic control, voice control etc
So much truth packed in this 12-minute video. You’ve touched sensitive areas on both the side of the leader and the team members. The struggle is real sometimes but insight from clips like this are invaluable. Thanks for sharing🙌🏻🙏🏻.
I am so glad that I literally stumbled up on your videos. It has really blessed me and been very informative on things I need to know as a Worship Leader and as an Gospel Artist.
There was something you said that touched me,I am a choir leader so I thought I will be leading most times but unfortunately our pastor always gives one particular girl to lead,I know nothing is ever happening between them, but it makes me wonder why am a choir leader and yet doesn't really lead ,that thought stresses me out and is now making me see my friend as an opponent.
If as the leader you're feeling like this, I can only imagine how other members would feel. I suggest you have a conversation with your pastor to see from/hear his own perspective as to why he prefer that one sister most time and also try to iron out the issue. I think it'll bring more relief and clarity to the group. Also if this sister knows somethings others don't, you can organise a coaching session for everyone and let the sister teach your guys. Music is involves growing, learning and rehearsing once you stops, you begin to depreciate in your output.
Hello, good day to you ma'am. I loved the honesty and sincerity in your comment, and that's why I just had to reply. I've been a choir member for as long as I can remember, and in all my years of being in a choir set up, I've had so many challenges, it took a while for my choir to hear my voice or take my opinions seriously, and back then it used to infuriate me a lot, we're all human beings and of course we want to feel useful and feel like we are doing that which God called us to do. So when people I felt I was better than got picked ahead of me, I would always feel bad, when I would get picked for tasks I felt were beneath me, I would always feel bad, and it continued like this for a while, there were times I walked away from the choir, but God always had a way of bringing me back. And I like to thing I've grown. But the last year has been one of the most challenging year of my being a choir member, because now I'm the music director and everything I thought I knew when I wasn't, God is teaching me again. I also thought, as music director since I would have Vito power, I would be leading a lot. But what God has shown me is leadership isn't all about leading from the altar, God has had to take away that part of me that used to think I was the only one good enough, or I was the one who should be leading. I one day discovered that I even got to lead more songs as just a choir member than as the MD 😅. But I've never been more content as a choir member than I am right now. But this is my story, it's unique to me. I don't know your whole story, or know the circumstances surrounding it, but one thing I do know is when I remove me and put God, I get clarity and clearness of thought, sometimes it's easy to get carried away with worshipping to an audience that we forget the main goal is worshipping to the audience of one. It's great and all to worship to and with an audience don't get me wrong, the feeling is incredible, but how you worship when you aren't leading is just as important as how you worship when you are leading. Your heart means well ma'am, and I know your time will come, but while you're waiting, don't let the devil still your joy, rather Rejoice in the fullness of God, and keep getting ready and stronger for when your opportunity presents itself 🙏🏽
I perfectly agree with you but what do you do as MD when you are chosen to lead the 'i was here before you came' and 'young but ancient mindset' that are not teachable? Let learn this songs, NO, ok Bring your own song NO.
I will endeavor to do a teaching video answering this question. If I attempt to answer it as a text, it will be extremely long. But while I get round to doing that video, trust The Holy Spirit to give you wisdom on how to navigate the situation. And let love be the driving force of your decisions, not frustration
Learnt a lot from this piece ma'am Followed and love your Music 💞 Is the Igbo fills for me This is indeed a crucial matter I hope it can get to all MDs 🎶
In my case sister Ayo has the voice but she is not consistent. She disappears when you needs her the most or when you want to give her a chance to lead a song
hmm! please how do you handle people who are not teachable atall. not interested in development, church is growing new people whom are ready to work are joining... and people who believe Holy spirit will take control of their none practice....

How do you deal with choir members that insist on singing a lead song but they don’t have the gift of singing lead?
