I am loving how dedicated you are to YOUR channel! Happy reading, Ian!
Thank you so much!!!
I already told you Dead Man Walking is amazing. But, you brought out the big guns. Stephen King It is my comfort read. I love it so much!!
You’re going to love “It” by Stephen King. It’s one of my favorites along with The Shinning
My first venture into Stephen King was Misery. I highly highly recommend it. It was amazing and such a quick read.
The first Stephen King book I read was Mr.Mercedes! It blew my socks off😂
Damn, I would love to read this many books in one month. I’m hoping to get through Lonesome Dove this august.
You’ve got this!! I think I’m just insane, so that’s why I overextend myself😂
An ambitious month of reading, but an incredible line up!
I'm excited for you to read Deadhouse Gates! The characters are great, and the ending is so good that it is worth finishing. I'm sure you will love Book 3 Chain of Dogs because it made me love Deadhouse Gates.
Really?? I am actually very excited to read Malazan again!!
Omg I'm so excited that you're going to read IT! Read it this year and absolutely loved it😁
The Pariah!!! Omg omg omg SOOO GOOD I was so excited to see it on your shelf!!!!
I have an entire review for it somewhere on the channel😂excited to get into the other two books!!
Ohh I'm so excited to hear your thoughts on IT, I loved that book even tho it took me a while to get through it. I actually ended doing a tandem read/listen and it was awesome. Hope you enjoy it too!
That’s what I am doing now! With my work schedule and RUclips schedule, there is no way I could only read the physical book! The audiobook experience is so good!!
Quite a lineup! I like the TBR prompt jar idea. I should give that a try.
It definitely makes you stretch!! It also causes me to give myself work than I can manage😂😂
So excited for you to read best served cold. My next one up is heroes. Going to try to get to it this month.
I saw It at the bookstore but when I picked it up and realised how massive it is I was like nah, not happening this summer. If you recommend it after you've read it maybe I'll give it a go at halloween so the horror vibes get me through it.. Happy reading in August :)
Thank you my man!! So far I am really enjoying IT! Hopefully it keeps its momentum!
What a great video! I can’t wait for more reading vlogs!
Thank you so much!!!
This video is so fun! 🎉
What a lineup! I just finished Morning Star and holy guacamole what a wild ride!! It was a total roller coaster. I'm excited to get into the sequel series!
Dude, Morning Star is SO good!! The next series is…BRUTAL! So dark, so fast-paced, so EPIC!!!
@@iangubeli Awesome! I started Iron Gold last night. When I found out what happened to Sevro I was like WHAAAT!
@@nathaneichenberger9332 I KNOW!! That book is so insane!!
Stephen King's IT is my favorite book. Hope you like it!
I love how you just toss out those prompts that did not work for you! So many booktubers tie themselves in knots with prompts they don’t like. Bravo! It is amazing. After that - read Duma Key - my personal King fave!
Thank you!! I just don’t like wasting time (mine or any of you guys’) with prompts I know I don’t want to entertain. And I have never heard of that King book🤔 I love him, so I will definitely be checking that out! Thank you!!
Oh man! I knew you were reading ‘IT’ before this video came out. I feel absolutely PRIVILEGED, I really do. I think I may have to purchase ‘IT’ alongside ‘Jade City’ now lol.
Have an incredible day, Ian!
You as well!! And thank you!! You were the first person know I was reading IT before anyone else knew!!
Stop moving book around, can't get title or author, irrating to say least, won't watch if can't read title, author.
@@carladaniels7910 You’re not rude at all, are you?
I'm glad to be an intimate reading associate
I've will follow you down the Abercrombie rabbithole this month. I just have to finish reading a tome called A dance with dragons first :)
I also purchased The road a few weeks ago, so I might end up reading that one too.
Sounds like a good month!! The Song of Ice & Fire books are so thick, but so worth it!! Excited for you!!
It's so cool that It is on your TBR! I just recently fell down the Stephen King rabbit hole, and I'm enjoying it so much! After reading 11/22/63 (which actually has a lot of references to It), I decided to go through his works in publication order. I finished Carrie earlier this week, and minus a couple of scenes that gave me the ick, I absolutely loved it! 💛
11/22/63 has connections to IT??? What??
@@iangubeli Yes!! It's really cool 😃 I had to look it up to make sure, and when I found out that there are small connections in other books too, I decided to just go through them all in order!
@@janiethereader I kind do wish I would have done that. I started with his Dark Tower novels (which I don’t regret one bit). They are amazing! But now knowing all of his books tie in together somewhere is the coolest thing!
@iangubeli it's never too late to go through them! It'll probably make you appreciate The Dark Tower even more 😊 Plus - I'm a supporter of falling in love with his writing before jumping into his first works 😁
@@janiethereader now that I have read all the Dark Tower books, I will have a newer perspective for Easter eggs throughout his catalog!!
I love when of you upload 🌟🌟
so excited for you to read the road! it’s such an amazing story, i hope you love it
If you end up liking the road I think you’d enjoy city of thieves by David Benioff!
Thank you for the rec!! I have never heard of that book or author before!
I listen to audio books to and frome work, just finished mistborn book 1 and about to start red rising
Audiobooks are so fun! I bet the person who does it for Sanderson is great!
Omg yes please just watched an Ashlynn vid and now get to see you do a tbr jar vid 🤯. Today was tough I work In tech support and the northern states with their mult storms had reaked havoc and work had been beyond busy this past month…therefore my days have been rough! So thankful and excited to have not just one of y’all’s vids but both of y’all yay it’s my lucky day! Appreciate y’all and your content thank you!
I am sorry to hear that work I stressful. That’s never easy, especially in a fast paced industry such as yours. I am so glad mine and Ash’s content can help you unplug from all of that!! You’re awesome, and I pray today won’t be as demanding on you!!!
No stretching at all The Road is the book Cormac McCarthy won the Pulitzer Prize for.
I’m working on the Stephen King backlist but have not read IT however I saw another follower comment on The Shining and that is one I have read and I loved it. I was really surprised by how much I really liked The Shining.
Oh awesome!! Then I am so glad I picked “The Road.”
There is so much to read from King it’s daunting!! I will definitely pick up “The Shining” and I want to read “The Stand.”
A good tbr jar pick video that is always fun to watch. I just put together a list of prompts and used a wheel of spin to help me pick 2 books for October since my August is already full. Good luck on your reading. ^_^
Thank you so much!! And that’s a great idea for TBR picking 🤔🤔
Dead Man's Walk is excellent.
Excited for it!!
Best served cold by Joe Abercrombie is one of the best of the stand-alones The Hero's is pretty much big battle, Red country is the weakest of the three but still a solid four star book so I'm new to your Channel great video
Hey, thank you and welcome!!! I’m excited to see what the standalones are all about! I loved that first trilogy, so I think pretty much anything by Abercrombie will be stellar!
If you end up loving Dead Man's walk and the wild west setting. Try reading some Zane Grey or go back to the book store and pick up the Sackett series or any other Louis l'amour. Also recommend reading Lonesome Dove before Dead Man's Walk. Better to read then in publication order rather than chronological
Oh really?? All these authors and publishers are throwing me off with their out-of-order-order reading!😂
@@iangubeli haha just supposed to be better reading experience. But whom my to tell you what order to read em
@@Six-Shooter honestly, I appreciate the suggestions!! Because of how amazing Lonesome Dove sounds, I may read all the other books before I read that one, so the others don’t seem dull in comparison!
'It' is such a good summer read! interested to see how you like the lonesome dove series because I've also been thinking about branching out my reading to try it!
IT is like the quintessential summer book in my opinion😂😂 branching out is so nerve-racking!
I finally got around to reading IT last year and it was nothing short of amazing. As much as I liked the mini-series from back in the day and the movies (the first one anyway), the book blows them both away. Not a bad book in the bunch this month, sir.
Thank you!! So far IT is insanely good! Like it has no business being this good! I liked the miniseries better than the movies from the 2010’s, but it seems the movies were a little bit more faithful to the source material🤔
Your videos are so addictive, i love your energy and personality!!!
I too have been wanting to read It! I have it (😂) on the shelf.
So far it’s really freaking good!!
Good luck with the tbr! That's a lot of pages!
can`t wait to hear your opinion on book "it" . I will tell you mine after you read it because I don`t want to risk ruining your reading experience . I have read other books by him.
I am a good way in to IT, so we will have a conversation soon!!
@iangubeli already doing better than i did. It took me months!
@@SuperSweetfrog well, I’m filming a special video for it, so I am trying to read it in a short amount of time to be able to upload it on schedule!!
Hahaha good luck 🍀
I want to try the Road before the end of the year too!
Although I love the First Law series, I severely disliked Best Served Cold 😂 Buuuut I am in the minority here. I loved The Heroes and Red Country, and in any case you're in for a treat reading the standalones and then the Age of Madness trilogy.
Deadhouse Gates is a great book! I paused Malazan but think I'd need to continue before I forget the important things that happened in the first three books and need to start from zero.
Good luck!
Thank you!! I wish you luck as well with Malazan, it’s a beast😂
This is exciting it is a great booking read it took me 1 month to read you'll love it, tfs happy reading you guys rock your both my favorite u tubers ❤❤
Thank you so much!!!!!!
King is great. I read The institute and Fairy tale (his two most recent books last week). Both were great but the Institute was incredible! 5 stars, i could not put it down, and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. I think you would really like it Ian, its right up your alley.
Oooo, thank you! I have loved everything I have read from him so far! Thank you for the recs!!
Happy reading month🎉 I just purchased The Road because of your book shopping video as I wanted to try a post apocalyptic story🤞🏻
Hey!!! That’s awesome, I love to hear what you think after you finish!!
You have to add the unforgettable summer by nikki lamers, the home duet by nikki lamers, job bragg (nosre mythology) by kenney meyrs (I think that's how you spell his name), no proof and beyond the widow's peak by ashley mcconnell, the fisherman's promise by olivia snow.
Thank you for the recommendations!!
@@iangubeli welcome :)
Enjoy all of the Abercrombie
Love your content! Would you consider doing a Joe Abercrombie reading vlog??? I would absolutely love that kind of content. ❤️❤️
Absolutely!! I might try to do a video where I read all three of the stand-alones in one week!🤔
That would be absolutely awesome, thank you!
I just found you and I am loving your channel! You are amazing and I hope your channel blows up, as it should! I recommend Michael J Sullivan’s works, especially the Lends of First Empyre, and it may be in my top three fantasy series of all time.
Oooo thank you for the recommendations!! And thank you!!!!!
@@iangubeli that’s supposed to be LEGENDS not Lends. I blame long work days.
@@joalgustas6498 hey I get that! Happens to me everyday!
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Road! It sounds interesting and if you recommend I’m gonna add it to my BTB collection. I think there’s a movie on it 🤔
You got this! I tried reading IT before as a teenager, but chickened out LOL
Thank you!! IT so far is absolutely amazing! I’m excited to try out The Road. Hopefully it live up to all the praise!!
Your bookshelf looks so good!!!
I’m reading lonesome dove this month!
The Road indeed won the Pulitzer Prize in 2007. So it totally counts and I'm so excited to hear what you think about it!! Also if you ever need another fantasy rec with great magic, I really liked the Grave of Empires trilogy by Sam Sykes. Really cool powers that come with brutal costs (and the main character is a riot!)
Oooo thank you for the rec!! I am all about new fantasy reads!
I am so bad at not putting other books from the same series into my tbr for the same month....I may or may not be in the middle of over 30 series 🥺. I used to binge series, I guess no more!!
I used to binge series as well. I kind of like breaking them up, now!! I’m with you on reading multiple series at once😂 sometimes I look at my shelf and go: “Dang I need to finish that”😂
@@iangubeli me too 😅. I have a running list in my reading journal of all the series I'm in the middle of, it's like 5-6 pages now. I'm going to have to reorganize it. But I did sit down the other day and got rid of a few I'm no longer interested in finishing. That felt really good!
@@paperbacksandponytails I bet that felt good! It’s funny how our reading interests change in the middle of things sometimes!
@@iangubeli it did feel good!
Have a successful August, Ian 👍
IAN!!!!!!! my man! back with another banger video as usual. always my favourite part of my day. you know its gonna be a good day when ian or Ashlynn uploads a video. You truly have made my youtube experience so much better. i read books because of people like y'all remember that!

@@iangubeli thanks alot brother! means alot. Morning star is Crazy!!!!!
I’m excited for you to read Dead Man Walks. Have you and Ashlyn ever watched Lonesome Dove? Oh my gosh it is epic. Looks like you have a great TBR this month. Can’t wait to hear what you think about all of them. Loved this. 😉
Thank you!!! I’m unsure about Ash, but I watched Lonesome DoVe YEARS ago. I might watch it to refresh my memory before I pick the book up!
You're description of The Road sounds really interesting. However it reminded me of another book I wanted to read - The Long Walk by Stephen King. So I guess I got 2 book recommendations for one. Thanks.
And you have me one rec!! Thank you!! Anything by Stephen King is going to be on my TBR😂
I’m surprised you don’t have the G.I joe figure crystal ball on your shelf sense that was created by Steven kings son
Can’t wait to see your review on IT! I love the movies :) but not sure about the book, I’ve heard there’s a lot of descriptions (+++) You’ll influence me to read it or not😂😂
There are definitely a lot of gruesome descriptions. There are unfortunately a lot of “smutty” descriptions, too. But just skip that and you’ll be golden!
Look at you , almost to 4k already!
I know, it’s crazy!!
@@iangubeli your videos are entertaining.
@@SuperSweetfrog thank you so much!!
I like doing my tbr jar but I just write down the name of books and put them in there. I tried the other books in the Lonesome Dove books but I really just love Lonesome Dove which is fine 😏
I am so excited to get to Lonesome Dove! It sounds like it going to be one of the best books of the year (for me)!!!
Really loving your videos❤
Oh my gosh...how to make me feel old...say that something published in 1995 was before you born. -.- I was a late sophomore/early junior in 1995. LOL!
I was hoping for you to read a Stephen King book! I haven’t read many books from him but the stories I heard he wrote are amazingly scary lol!! Hope you make videos for spooky season reading vibe!! Awesome video !!
Thank you!! I have read his Dark Tower series…SO good!! If you want to get into King, try that series!!
@@iangubeli oh yeah forgot you read that series from Mr. King. Sorry I watch a lot of booktubers that I sometimes forget who read what. Thanks !
I'll be really surprised if you like The Road. I had high hopes for that because of the praise from everyone. It was not what i expected and not my cup of tea. I sincerely hope you do though!
Wait have you read Lonesome Dove already? Don't read them out of publication order! Lonesome Dove is the best one and I kind of just ignore the other three because they're not nearly as good.
The backs of the all the Lonesome books at the store said the Dead Man’s Walk was the first in the series. I think it said Lonsome Dove is the third book🤔
Lonesome Dove is the first in publication order, not series order. Larry McMurtry wrote Lonesome Dove as a stand-alone and then wrote the other three later because it became so popular. Please, please, for the love of God, start with Lonesome Dove. It was his magnum opus. The other three books are great but not a masterpiece. You can read the books in any order, but Lonesome Dove was written first and was meant to be the only book for years and years before he finally gave in to demand and wrote more. Trust me. Start with Lonesome Dove and then decide if you even want to continue with the series. I’ve read all four. Lonesome Dove isn’t just the best in the series, it is my Favorite Book of All Time, and it is entirely valid to only read that one and to ignore the other three books, which were written afterwards.
@@HarvestLockwood I think you may have convinced me!!
I haven't thought about "It" for a long time, but for some reason when you were talking about Joe Abercrombie my mind started thinking about my copy of "It", and you suddenly pulled out the same book in the same edition that I have. I feel like I predicted it lol
That’s wild😂 great minds think alike, no??
@@iangubeli yes I guess they do 😂 also, just so you know there are a couple of content warnings for that book so if there's anything in particular you're sensitive to, make sure to check first!
@@lindsey1412 I have had to skip some things, for sure😂 I’m not overly sensitive with anything, really, but the sexual thing sin books I skip because I find it unnecessary. The parts in IT…😵 goodness gracious, they were appalling.
@@iangubeli yes absolutely. Like, they're children! It's a great book otherwise but I wish that wasn't in there 😭 idk how much Stephen king you've read but most of his books that I've read do include unnecessary/disturbing sexual things
@@lindsey1412 other than IT, I have only read the Dark Tower books. It’s very mild sexual content compared to what I’ve heard of his other stuff.
I also really want to read The Road, I nearly brought it yesterday when I was at the mall but decided my bank account would not thank me at all
That’s me anytime I walk into a store that sells books!!😂😂
@@iangubeli I was already in there to buy Jade War, The Dragon Republic, Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray. My wallet would have wanted a word with me if I stretched it to another book
I'm currently writing a book similar to the road, but only a romance period piece. Can u give it a review when you have the money & time?
@@redgiant970 I love the struggle of book shopping so much!
Love your videos!!
Thank you so much!!
Question: the faithful and the fallen or red Rising ? I want to start one in the fall but, don’t know which one...
That’s the hardest question I have ever been asked😂 I would say Res Rising, but I know it is extremely popular right now. Depending on if you want to read the physical or listen to it, or what have you, it may not be available. But the freaking Faithful & the Fallen!! It’s an absolute masterpiece! If you can I would say hey both of the first novels of each series😂
😂 thanks , yes just got ebook of Red Rising cause it’s sold out . I’ll buy Malice after.
All of that ON TOP OF the behemoth that is "IT." God speed my friend.
Thank you!!😂 very ambitious month😂
You totally need to find a book with food on the cover. 😅
Haha, I really do! Knowing my genre tastes, it’ll be some weirdo book about killer fruit😂
Do you recommend reading Joe Abercrombe's first trilogy before jumping into the standalones? or can you just read the standalones (in publication order as you have been informed by the comments)
I do recommend reading that first trilogy! It’s what started it all, and I think characters from the first trilogy make appearances in the stabdalones! Plus, that first trilogy is so freaking good!!
Is there a list online of the standalone books you are reading
On my Goodreads, yes!
Isn't dead man's walk the third in the series? I thought Lonesome Dove was the first
For some reason on the back of the book Dead Man’s Walk claims to be the first in the series🤔
@@iangubeli Timeline wise, Dead Man's Walk is the first one. It's about main protagonists and their time as Rangers (don't worry, not a spoiler). Lonesome Dove is way after that. I recommend reading Lonesome Dove first tho.
@@szfo6090 I might have to! So many people have told me the same thing!
Any advice for books you just can't finish? Every time I get to The Two Towers, I just can't with the Ents and I quit halfway through! I know you said audiobooks, but I really need to read these books
So, The Two Towers gets so EPIC!! I got stuck on the Ent part the first few times I tried reading it. Honestly, with Tolkien, if it’s a little dry, I recommend skipping to the next chapter😂 I know some people would find that sacrilegious, but hey, if you’re it enjoying it, just skip it!
I do that with pretty much any book or author I struggle with! If it’s not landing, I just skim until I am out of that section, or move to the next chapter. If I miss something, we’ll then it hopefully will be explained late on😂
@@iangubeli oof ya I could see me not feeling like I've fully completed the challenge of reading the book if I do that. Then again, I could see skipping a chapter, maybe reading a condensed version of it or a break down could be beneficial. Thank you! I'll give it another go soon
@@straya520 Awesome!! It’s worth it! I always skip Tolkien’s poetry and songs. Just kit for me. Really, any part in any book that doesn’t hold the attention very well, I will skim until it’s over.
@@iangubeli it's interesting you say to skip the poetry and music, that's the stuff that kind of keeps me tied in. Kind of like some secret history lore in the music/poetry, or just a break from the same font haha
@@straya520 and that’s totally the point of why Tolkien wrote all of the poetry and the songs. You do learn so much from it all. I think because I have read them so many times, I skip them. I’m the beginning I read every word!
