Fascinating to see Borg play that well after abscens from top tennis for over ten years. I was raised in the same town as Borg in Sweden (Södertälje). Borg was born on June 6, 1956. By the way same date that Sweden celebrates it's National Day. Very proud of him!
Interesting info about Sweden’s national day. Yeah Borg was amazing! I started playing tennis in 1980 ( I was 13). I remember at our local tennis club was a huge poster of him hitting a forehand shot hanging on the wall. I wish I had that poster. Glad I got to grow up watching Borg and all the others play. Connors, McEnroe and all the others. Was some great and exciting tennis back then.
These guys were still kickin' butt in their 40's but at that point couldn't keep up with the 20 y.o.'s which is just natural. Think about Connors back in the early '70's when he was the "new kid on the block" and who he was kicking around the courts - Rosewall, Nastase, Dent, Zechnik, Tanner .... that's why it's fun to be a tennis fan, because we get to watch the "changing of the guard" every 8-10 years.
