      Brads Greenhouse & Gardening I have a venus flytrap(which I almost kill to death because of me being a idiot has no leaves but it does have roots),a cape sundew(which doing very well),and 2 pitcher plants. One is either a lady luck nepenthes or a suki Asian pitcher plant and the other one idk what it's call. Setting Venus flytrap and the sundew aside,the one idk what is called I've gotten one leaf to start making a pitcher and it makes leaves slowly. The suki Asian/Lady luck nepenthes is on a hold different level. I can't figure it out. It makes leaves as fast as The Flash just like my sundew but has yet to make any pitchers and it gets the same conditions as the idk one. Please help.

    Brad - That is def quite the Nepenthes collection you have there! I purchased my first one about 5 weeks ago and it is really doing well in my terrarium. The key seems to be good water quality (in my case distilled) and high humidity. Thanks for sharing!

    Well you Nepenthes collection certainly puts mine (and most other people's) to shame. I need to stop spending money on Orchids and re-invest in some more Nepenthes. Thanks for the update.

    I got a pitcher plant recently and think they are pretty cool, but not sure I will be able to keep it alive in the house since homes are so dry all winter. I did hang it outside last week so it can get plenty of summer humidity (and bugs I guess). Any tips you would have for trying to keep it alive during winter in my home would be appreciated.

    Is that sedum sarmentosum or angelina that you're using as ground cover in some of those pots? The sarmentosum is my favorite, sooo durable and easy to work with.

      as long as you have around 13hrs of light, 17-25degrees Celsius heat night-day and 75%+ humidity i dont see why not, dont forget to mist the leaves each day for higher chances of pitchers forming

      I use Osmocote classic pellets sometimes. It is become a fairly safe and tested way to feed a nepenthes pitcher

    About 2 months ago I bought a Nepenthes Ventrata from a local plant store and you don't joke around when you say that they grow quickly. It came in a concrete pot and had two plants in. Within a few weeks I discovered 2 more plants growing under the first two. After that, the four plants in total have about 12 tiny pitchers growing. I do not have it in any kind of green house and it seems to be doing just fine. Do you have any advice for a noob at growing Nepenthes.

    • @purplerain3457
      @purplerain3457 7 лет назад +1

      if they grow huge don't worry about slicing half of the thing off and the cut piece will root if done right you will get a lot of other shoots out of the plant I have a similar situation I have a room to grow all my orchids and CPs so I have a rough idea of what to do .

    i bought a nepenthes ventrata from a local greenhouse. Last month it had tiny pitchers, maybe half inch long. This month it has 2 pitchers that are at least 2 inches long and more on the way. I guess I'm doing something right. How big can these things get? I usually only have venus flytraps, but decided to try my hand at nepenthes. Glad I did.

    • @purplerain3457
      @purplerain3457 7 лет назад +1

      Rachel LeBlanc plant wise infinite they just grow and grow until you stop them but pitcher size biggest I've seen is 12 inches lengthwise and 1 inch at its widest point

    • @AlanMota303

      aidanslife i purchased a ventricosa and it came with for 1 inch pitcher some almost turning red i kept in my terrarium and it seems to be doing bad most of the pitcher are turning or should i say have black spots on them i dont know what to do in my terrarium i keep the light on 24/7

      AlanMota 303 n ventricosa are highland plants so they would be better of on a sunny windowsill with damp compost and sprayed lightly twice a week I don't know that much about them I get a lot of my care stuff from the book THE SAVAGE GARDEN it is a great book for care I have a copy I but I can't find out more I'm using the book to press two four leaf clovers I found
