    I am French. I have been living in English speaking Canada for the last 30 years. I was born and raised in Morocco, in Casa, right after the independence. I heard Darija and some Amazigh all my childhood but was not allowed to learn and speak ithem 😢😢😢. Now is the time for me to reconnect with the languages of my homeland! ❤
    I like your lessons because i dont have to decipher the words, i just need to listen and repeat without reading. I have much more vocabulary than i thought, what a great surprise!

      @@PaletteCece I am also half Marocain, half Egyptian. Thank you that you find my mix beautiful!
      I am not used to people find mix beautiful. I was always kind of made fun of. Marocains did I grew up found my mom disgusting, a golddiger and some even a wh**** for marrying my dad, but they know nothing of my mom. They found it wrong that my mother married someone not from her place, not even a whole other place in marroco, but someone from another country that comes with anothet culture, language and physical appearance.
      Egyptians did I was serounded with, said that it is a shame that I am mixed, but with a marocain than europian and I felt that with somw comments they said that they see marocains as lower class than them.
      I was also bullied that I looked weird and I blamed my mixed ethnicity. No matter how much I improved in the 2 languages, I never felt included because they do not see me as on of them but the other half ethnicity. So marocains see me as Egyptians and Egyptians see me as Marocain.
      I am not saying that every Egyptian and Marocain person is like that btw! But I am just so suprised that someone sees my ethnicity as beautiful, when whole my life I felt that I was seen as in the lower ethnitical class in the world and excluded from my own community.
      I just wabt to note that I am not saying that a lot of them or a majority are like that, but just my experiences and feelings being mixed with the 2 ethnicities
      I just wanted to share with you my experiences. Thank you again from your comment, it made me feel better about myself ❤

    • @PaletteCece
      @PaletteCece 2 месяца назад

      @@VocaloidLover-mo2zr it seems as though you've gone through a lot due to your mix, but yes, I do find it beautiful! The perfect arabian crossover! As a half Asian half arab (Half bengali half moroccan) I completely get what you've been through, however my experience is a bit different. Since your a mixed arab, and have both egyptian arab genes, and moroccan arab genes, it seems as though you've experienced a lot of hate for either being a moroccan arab, or being an Egyptian arab. For me it's a lot different, as you may be aware, in moroccan culture they idolise fair skin, I've always had a tan skin tone due to my bengali genes, so visiting Morocco was always tough for me as I appeared as a foreigner along with my Asian features. I was never taught Darija as a child, only bengali, so meeting me for the first time you'd never be able to guess I'm half moroccan, only bengali. I love moroccan culture and love being moroccan, same with bengali. However it makes me a bit insecure that I've only been seen as a South Asian. On top of that, I was born and live in the UK, and a lot of my far relatives from both my bengali and moroccan side tend to call me "whitewashed" or a "coconut". I love my cultures and am currently trying to learn darija as quick as possible to feel more connected to it, thank you for sharing your experience, my Allah bless you, and I wish you the best 💗🩷

    Lived in Marrakech for over five years and learned Darija…..but after 30 years back home…I have forgotten most of it. Visiting Morocco soon to introduce our youngest daughter to the country of her birth so I found this to start reviewing. It made me instantly happy to hear Darija again. Thank you! I remembered most of the greetings. My husband got into the habit of putting his hand over his heart after shaking hands and he never stopped doing it…even in the US because he thinks it is a special way to greet others.

It is amazing that you once learned and I'm sure you will pick it up fast again. It is a wonderful way to greet people and I'm happy that peice of culture has stuck with him for so long. Can't wait to hear how your trip goes and happy to be having you join our effective Arabic family!

      A week to go…. Enshahallah….cannot wait. Yes, we know Morocco has changed a lot. We lived in Imlil Valley too and after the 1995 flood we heard of that killed many there and wiped out the “garage” area of Imlil, we will not recognize it with a paved road, electricity, cell phones and computers! So many people speak English now which was not the case our first year(1985)! I still regret losing my ability to speak Darija from lack of opportunity. It was hard to return to the US in ‘93. I learned a lot about hospitality and Moroccan cooking during my time there. We try to keep that alive. We recently made Harira, basteeya, beef, prune and almond tagine and couscous for friends. Random phrases in Darija are popping up in my head now. I am hoping Darija returns when we are hearing it all the time. My eldest daughter remembers a few words from her childhood: “ Shabbat” ‘Baraka” “shukran” and “la” (also the Berber equivalent….oh ho).

    I'm from the Philippines and know some basic Arabic since my work base is in Dubai, but when i was sent 2 years ago to Marrakech and Rabat for projects I started to mingle with the locals (which are the friendliest and lovely people btw), they somehow understand me but i can't understand them. It sounds Arabic but with French accent. That's when they told me their language is somewhat different from the standard Arabic. So my Moroccan friends taught me and watching your video kinda refreshes what i have learned and brings back my beautiful memories and experience there. I miss the food, Tajine and Couscous and all my friends there, hope to see them again.

    My Moroccan friend was angry with me over text. We talk in French as usual, but I did not tell him I started these lessons. 😉So when the discussion was heated, I did not know what to say, just texted: mashi muskil to calm things down. I have never told him anything in Arabic before. It worked like magic. He suddenly changed so much. He did not want to argue and he even apologized. Next time I met him, he even mentioned to me again, that I wrote it in Moroccan Arabic.
