Thanks so much. I'm glad you're enjoying it. My copy of HeroQuest is in a bad way so there are plenty more videos lined up. However, I'll be dropping them in among other types of content too. I have lots to do!
I just finished the Barbarian tonight, painting my first HeroQuest mini. Without HeroQuest, the Space Marine video game and Warmachine I wouldn't have fallen in to the miniature hobby at all so it all comes full circle. I'm gonna try this technique painting the bases the color of the base plastic for the model, so the heroes are gonna have bright red bases, greenskins green, etc. I already have the red color, gonna line in the stone detail tomorrow. Thanks for this vid!
I've always planned on doing a resto/paint up of Heroquest myself. I was almost about to take the plunge a few weeks ago but then Hasbro announced the remake. After much deliberation I decided to back the remake because I'd rather a game I'm not afraid to bust out when my neice and nephew come around. Hopefully my eight year old self will forgive me. I'm glad someone out there is doing Mentor's work anyway.
This series makes me want to find a copy of the original Heroquest, look it over, repair any damages and paint up the models. But first, I am working on Hellboy, Black Seas, Blood and Plunder, a few Reaper Bones here and there, Cthulhu Wars, RelicBlade, Joan of Arc, BlitzBowl, Teramyyd, HATE, DeadZone, Kings of War Vanguard... Ugh. Well. I guess I'll be ready for Heroquest 2021 by the time all that is done? :) (thanks for the video!)
I have seen American sets without the lip. I don't know if it was all sets or just a specific edition. I'm pretty sure the miniatures in the US expansions (Frozen Horror and Mage of the Mirror) DID have the lips, though.
thanks for another great vid! just do yourself a favour: throw away Abaddon Black and get yourself some Vallejo Model Color Black (70.950 ), you'll never look at that citadel paint pot again! :-)
I have two copies of the American version of HeroQuest. This series makes me want to look it over, repair any damages and paint up the models. But first, I am working on Wahammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress. Getting the models ready for painting in the near future. Great series. I like the visual style of the original over the World of Warcraft derived new edition.
Thanks for watching the series. I'm glad it's inspiring you to dust off your copies. I don't dislike the new Hasbro look, and I like how they are making homages to the original art, but for me the original is just too strongly rooted and I will always love it more. I'm very pleased the new edition is coming out for people to enjoy. Blackstone Fortress is a great game, but sadly most of mine is still grey. Seems that whenever I get it out of the box, it's with the intention of playing rather than painting!
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I agree the HeroQuest homage. I understand changes due to connection games Workshop. I do see how this can bring new, younger players in to this classic game. It is nice and simple. Four heroes, six action for them to use, monster move, search, and achieve the objective. As for Blackstone Fortress, I plan to paint all before learning how to play. Got the base game and all the expansions (minus the boxsets of the addition monsters already in the base set and the card packs to up the difficulty). So, over 70 models to work on. Taking before photos as I'm writing this. Keep up the good work.
@@blackraptor311 Yeah, it's a shame it doesn't have the Games Workshop connection anymore, but that was never really going to be on the cards so I think they've done the next best thing in the end. It's a great, simple game. My daughter can't wait to play, and I have to wrestle the skeletons away from my little boy who's only three at the moment. That's a lot of work ahead for Blackstone Fortress but it will be worth it to see such great miniatures all painted. Feel free to share a link in the comments if you have a gallery somewhere.
This is a great series! Keep them coming 😁

Nice idea to colour coded the bases. Good luck with it.
Great technique! Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you liked the video.

Team Mentor for the win. He will forgive you... but he won't forget. It all goes in the book of Loretome.

Thanks for watching. Sounds like you've got your hands full!
I notice that your bases have a second edge and my minis don’t. Is that a European vs. American version thing?

3D paint techniques on the bases? That raises a lot of flags...
10 points.

Ah, I like Abaddon Black. Just as well, because I've got about 11 pots of the stuff. Maybe one day when they've all run out... Thanks for watching.
Always Board Never Boring yeah, I got plenty too. not a very good reason to use a crappy product, though! 😂

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Oh I plan to make a video on the finished product. If I remember, I'll send you a link.
@@blackraptor311 Awesome. Thanks.
